The two-beat feel<br />

The two-beat feel came to the blues from Dixieland and big-band jazz and<br />

from novelty tunes. The lively pace of this style makes you want to jump,<br />

unlike the more sedate blues grooves. The two-beat feel, also called cut time<br />

or cut shuffle, is characterized by a pronounced boom-chick, boom-chick feel,<br />

where the booms are bass notes (usually alternating between the root and<br />

the fifth of the chord), and the chicks are the chords, shown in Figure 5-16.<br />
