Adjacent to the Expo,
exhibitor Killerspin
sponsored a huge
table tennis event,
the HardBat Classic.
The televised event
featured the largest
purse ever for the
sport, a sport that,
incidentally, works
quite nicely in the
gameroom, garage,
or backyard!
More
Less
Same
– most blamed the show itself. “We were hoping
for more new products,” said one dealer. Others
claimed they did the entire show in less than two
days. “There could have been more vendors.”
But that savings, say retailers, will be
used towards fall buys, based mostly on
literature they took home from the show.
Those who spent more typically also spent
more time. “Need to go back to 10-6 Thursday
and Friday and 10-4 Saturday, too short.”
Veteran buyers agree. “I know a lot people
at the show so there is never enough time.”
But buyers agreed 100 percent that they’ll
be spending more in the next few months
on items they saw at the show. They all
brought home price lists and literature,
and all expect to make purchases.
“We bring home everything, then we’re
ready to shop when we get a better handle
on fall inventory needs,” said one buyer.
