DIVISION 3 CLUB NOTES margin did not refl ect the closeness of the game and many of our players displayed good form. The seniors started well and had the better of Doncaster in the fi rst term however missed opportunities in front of goal proved costly. In a low scoring fi rst half we were close enough at half time but the opposition slowly got on top in the third term and despite our best efforts were unable to get back into the game. With two matches remaining we are very keen for all three teams to fi nish the season off on a winning note and we hope to celebrate three victories tonight after our last match for the year on home turf. Next Saturday night in the social rooms we are holding our last match after party commencing from 7.30pm and hope to see everyone attend and enjoy what should be a great night. The following day Sunday August 14 is our vote count day for all three teams, whilst our presentation night has been booked for Friday September 9 at the Ringwood RSL. To purchase your ticket and for further details please refer to the posters on the social notice board. Today we host Whitehorse Pioneers at Jubilee Park and invite their players and supporters to join us for after match drinks in the social rooms. TEMPLESTOWE: Last week we hosted Nth Ringwood at home and were comprehensively beaten in all three games. They showed us why they are undefeated in all three grades of football. The Colts match was one where we held our opponents in the second quarter but after half time it was all one way traffi c. We ended up with just one goalkicker, Nathan Marks, against an opposition who were simply too good. Better players were Bibby, Ruggeri and Waters. In the Reserves game we were jumped in the fi rst quarter and despite a mini revival in the third quarter we were well beaten at the end of the game. Better players were Jones, Francis, Miosku and Cherbakof. The Senior match was a closely fought contest for two and a half quarters. Whilst we were never in front, we were never far behind. A fi ve minute lapse before the main break saw us 14 points down at half time. We recovered to a four point defi cit early in the third quarter but were never in it after that. At the fi nal siren, we ended up 55 points in arrears. Jones ended up with four goals in a best on ground display for us. Eccles kicked 3 and Ryan Bain contributed with 2 goals. Better players were Jones, Flemming, Sahinidis and Flemming. This week we have three big games against Chirnside Park and hopefully we can get back on the winners list in all three grades. Our Sportman’s lunch with Rod Hogg yesterday was extremely well supported. Thanks to all those who were in attendance. The last Club 250 luncheon is on Aug 13th when we play Doncaster at home. See Greg Tremewen for bookings. Go Dockers. WARRANDYTE: The Colts had a solid victory on Saturday against Chirnside Park to make that two big wins in three weeks, which is a good end to their tough season. Sam Beasley, Matty CV, Thorpe and Gaff continued their fantastic seasons and have shown they will be in the mix to play senior footy for the Bloods in years to come. The reserves played out a dramatic draw against Chirnside Park In an enthralling contest with an unexpected fi nish. Throughout the day the margin between the two teams was never bigger than the eight point Warrandyte quarter time lead. In the fi nal seconds, with the clock ticking and the siren imminent a Chirnside Park player marked thirty metres out from their goal, directly in front. Needing any score to take the lead, he played on and handballed to a teammate running past and into the open goal. In a stroke of luck for the Bloods the siren sounded just as the Chirnside Park player went to kick the winning goal, and the Umpire blew his whistle with the game locked in a draw. The standouts for the day included Leon Holewa, Jimmy Bowen and Tim Dunn. The seniors were looking forward to their clash against Chirnside Park after some tough matches in recent weeks. For the young Warrandyte side it was about learning how to string four consistent quarters together and regaining their early season confi dence. It was a tight and low scoring contest from the outset and as the game went on, momentum began to swing back and forth which each team playing patchy football. The true test however, was whether the young Warrandyte side could manage to run out the game and fi nish strong unlike previous weeks. With the game going down to the wire, it was Chirnside who eventually came out on top by a narrow four points. In a close contest, the back six were superb all day alongside Tom Naughtin and Tom Appleby through the middle. WHITEHORSE: A tough day on Saturday as we ventured out to Boronia. The Colts showed plenty of character as they battled to take the game up to a top four side, but a couple of lapses late in quarter proved costly and despite having plenty of the play, we were unable to convert on the scoreboard. The reserves were undermanned and battled hard but simply outclassed. The seniors tried hard to provide a contest, but turnovers proved costly in the fi rst term and we failed to make the most of our opportunities in front of goals and in the end a disappointing result as we were overrun.
