THE WHISTLEBLOWERS EFL SECURES MORE AFL TALENT The EFL is pleased to announce that current AFL goal umpire Chelsea Roffey will become the EFL’s goal umpiring ambassador. We have identifi ed that there is huge potential for more young people to become involved in goal umpiring next season and we think Chelsea will be an excellent advocate to help in this area. We also think that gaol umpiring is a great way to get more females involved in umpiring and follow the lead of Chelsea and possibly follow her pathway the to ‘G. in her role Chelsea will assist in the recruitment and coaching of a new wave of goal umpires for season 2012. The EFL currently has 18 goal umpires 21 years of age or under and we would like to increase those numbers signifi cantly next season. Goal umpiring is a fantastic place to watch a game of footy from and also be involved in our great game. There is a lot more involved in goal umpiring than just waving the fl ags and we are confi dent that once these new umpires take up the challenge they will thoroughly enjoy the experience and challenges that goal umpiring presents. “Goal umpiring teaches you skills that hold you in great stead for other aspects of life,” Chelsea says. “You learn to juggle several tasks at once as you read the play, move to the best position to view the ball and focus at the crucial moment. BORONIA: Another three convincing victories sees all three sides showing great form at the pointy end of the season. The Colts were steady all game against fi fth spot Whitehorse and cruised in by seven goals. Conan and Dane both put in four quarters. The reserves are playing very nicely at the minute and they played great team footy. A welcome back to a chubbier Sudsy who booted 7 majors. The seniors blew the game out early and despite only fi nishing with 17 fi t men played out the entire game to eventually win by 120 plus points. Snicko stood out and is back in form. President’s lunch is last home game so get your tickets. I will also be hunting down fi nals helpers over the next two weeks. It’s out to Mitcham this week and its payback time. Good luck lads and go Hawkas! COLDSREAM: The Fortress has very few bricks left in it. The Colts, rollercoaster ride continues. It was a great game, nip and tuck all day. They had plenty of the ball but just couldn’t do a lot of damage early, then things started to go their way and they gradually pegged back the defi cit. It was a grandstand fi nish with the young Cougs getting over the line in the dying seconds. Great effort. The reserves, talk about chocolates to boiled lollies. They, like the Colts, had plenty of the ball, especially round the midfi eld, but just couldn’t get too far past a resolute defence. Once again lack of fi tness and cohesion saw them overrun in the second half and showed that their best can be pretty good, but all too often they are just not able to sustain it for an entire game. The seniors produced probably their worst performance of the season. They were never in it from the outset and played like a dispirited team with not much to play for. But, for a lone effort up forward, there were not a lot of highlights and the opposition were just too good on the day. With a couple of rounds to go, the opportunity is there for a great fi nish to the season and to redeem a bit of pride. Today’s match is against North Ringwood, it’s a tough assignment, but anything is possible. Best of luck to both sides. Don’t forget to your 1-100 draw tickets. See Louie. Colts were up against one of the best teams in the comp and handled themselves well given shortage of numbers once again. Best – Free, Clark, Aaron T-H, Snibson, Contreras & Brown. Reserves took two and a half quarters to shake off a determined Ringwood but eventually wrapped up a fi nals birth after breaking away during the third quarter. Best – Weber, Rossa (9 Goals and improving Average to 5.987), Mutimer, Goodwin, Ghasper & Angeli. The seniors drew away steadily over the course of the game winning each quarter but not by much, still, enough for a solid win in the end. Well done to Dippa and helpers last Sunday on the Race day, sets the foundations for a great annual event. Tonight is the Full Moon Party – everyone welcome. Today is defi nitely last day for raffl e tickets, return to Pat Considine. MITCHAM: Colts down by four points at Coldstream, a great effort by the boys with none on the bench. Gardiner kicked 3. Rudd Chesney & Tsolos in the best. The reserves posted a 13 goal win with Rozyki & Big Ash 4 each, Herdy & the skipper 2 apiece. Rusty Godfrey Didgy Julz & Bolam in the best. It was a 10 goal win to the seniors after losing Fish early in the fi rst. Marro booting 5, 4 to the Duke 3 to JT 2 apiece to Lloydy, Godders & Dave Searl. JT, Jimmy Whitchell & Higgo in the best. Boronia at home this week and a chance to beat a contender twice in one season. For the record: played Boronia 41 times, 26-15 to the Tigers. NORTH RINGWOOD: Today we welcome all from Coldstream and hope for three great contests. We invite all players, members and supporters into the rooms for a social drink after the game. Last week we headed to Porter Street to take on the Dockers, and what an impressive setup they have down there, great new rooms that looked huge. The ground was in really good condition which saw the Colts play some good footy. Best: Matt Payne, Miller and Dan Allwood. The reserves got off to a fl yer kicking holding a four goal lead at quarter time, with senior spots up for grabs, a few continued to put their hands up as we lead at every change to run out comfortable winners by 11 goals. Best: Woody, Joel G and Josh B. Seniors had a few changes, with another on Saturday morning, and were up against a side that gave them a real shake in round seven. After reviewing the Dockers’ possessions game the answer was the pressure the ball carrier, the forward pressure was fantastic which then hurried the Dockers delivery. A great spread of goal kickers again pleased the coaching panel and a good return to senior footy from Big Scotty D after some weeks of with a shoulder. Best: the Sharp Bros, Rory and TB. Congratulations to The Deckers, Dave Tucker, Stu Weston and Mick Sloane on winning Pete's monster raffl e and well done to PG on another great day. GO SAINTS! RINGWOOD: Once again the Colts got our day off to a good start with another solid victory last weekend. Despite a lack lustre fi rst half the boys got their game going in the third term and fi nished full of running to run out comfortable winners. The reserves put up a good display against a top four side and were right in the match at the long break. The game continued to be an even affair until the opposition put on fi ve goals in as many minutes to gain the vital break and despite our boys showing great determination we were unable to bridge the gap and went down fi ghting.
