We’ve Got “it”
BY STEPHEN CHRISANTHUS
{
At the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce you’ll find an
enthusiastic community eager to help you succeed. They have reinvented an
all-American institution and created a modern, eclectic hub where business,
education, job growth, tourism, government affairs, entrepreneurship,
technology, healthcare, arts and culture intersect and thrive. There’s simply
no other organization like it. So what is “it”? “it” is different for everyone.
The 55th Delray Affair features over
500 exhibitors including artists, crafters,
and food vendors from Delray Beach
and all over the country. The event spans
across 10 city blocks in downtown Delray
Beach on Atlantic Ave.This is an important
event for the community. Let’s hear
how “it” affects some of our local businesses.
Jeff Kozan
Vatican Tattoo Studio Delray, Owner/Artist
Being a 100% art based business, and
being located centrally downtown, the
Delray Affair is a must for us. The exposure
our studio gets, and the good time
we get to have with everyone in the community
is second to none.
Howard Ellingsworth
Delray Beach Historical Society, President
Originating as the “Booster’s Club” in
1912, and transitioning to the Chamber
of Commerce in 1925, the Chamber has
served to support our town’s growth. My
hope as a business owner and president
of our town’s historical society, is that the
Chamber can continue on a path to promote
and improve the business environment,
stimulate a vibrant local economy
and produce a cooperative effort to enhance
the overall quality of life here in
Delray Beach. The connection between
the Chamber and the Delray Affair is particularly
poignant for me personally, as
my late father Kenneth Ellingsworth was
the Executive Director of the Greater Delray
Beach Chamber of Commerce beginning
in 1959. He held this position for the
Jeff Kozan ,Howard Ellingsworth, Judi Alweil, Rebecca Loveless
next 33 years until his retirement and in
this capacity was a founding member of
the Delray Affair.
Judi Alweil
Stitches by the Sea, Partner
Our customers come from all over and
we encourage them to dine and shop in
Delray. We make sure to have enough
people working on Saturday so that we
can take turns seeing all of the wonderful
exhibits.
Rebecca Loveless
Tradition Tattoo, Owner/Artist
This event has allowed me to share an
entire world to my collectors, not as a tattooer
but as a painter. Keeping alive this
passion inspires others. Art is vital to the
spirit of Delray.
