Now that Delray Beach is a rising star in the art, culture and social
scene, it might seem a little difficult to find affordable activities, shops
or restaurants. I am here to prove you wrong. Delray Beach offers a mix
of high-end boutiques with laid-back restaurants, and events for the
whole family or nightclubs for night owls. Here is what you can do in
Delray Beach in April for $50 or less.
It’s that time of the year again when
your straw hat gets as much love as
your bike, sandals and bathing suit.
April is Straw Hat Month so grab your
sunny-day staple because you’ve got an
art show to attend. The Delray Affair is
back again – for the 55th year, incredibly
– and is your one-stop-shop for all of
the arts and crafts you didn’t know you
needed. The Delray Affair is the largest
arts and crafts festival in the Southeast
United States and about 600 vendors
are sprinkled along the Avenue from the
Intracoastal to N.W. Second Avenue. The
art festival has earned numerous awards
for the eclectic mixture of fine art, great
crafts and funky products from around
the world and there is no shortage to
the unique and creative arts and crafts
you’ll find. The event is held April 7 and
8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and April 9 from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free so it
leaves you plenty of green to score some
sweet crafts. There’s even a family fun
zone if you want to let the kids go wild so
you can kick back and enjoy the sun and

to keep them clean! April is
Keep America Beautiful Month
and the perfect time to put in a little
sweat equity in our own backyard. Spodak
Dental Group has teamed up with
Delivery Dudes, the Downtowner, Saltwater
Brewery, Woo Creative and more
local businesses to host the Seventh Annual
SDG Beach Cleanup. You are invited
to join your local neighbors and walk the
beach to remove all of the garbage that
has unfortunately collected from lazy
beach-goers. The event is held Sunday,
April 9 from 8 to 10 a.m. and all supplies
will be provided. There will be a brief
yoga sesh to start the day and then it’s
time to hit the sand and head south
or north. Make sure you bring your
bathing suits so you can hang out
at the beach afterward and enjoy
the fruits of your labor. As a double
bonus, prizes will be awarded to the
three people who collect the most garbage
based on weight so it’s a win, win
