PRESIDENT<br />

At the dawn of the 2008-2009 academic year, the<br />

Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya finds itself in the<br />

midst of implementing strategic plans for its second<br />

decade of activity. We are expanding our English-language<br />

graduate program in the Business School and the School of<br />

Government. Over the past fourteen years, our schools and<br />

research institutes have won international recognition and<br />

our alumni have taken impressive steps toward changing<br />

the face of Israeli society. In the coming years, we will build<br />

upon these accomplishments and expand our academic programs and activities to<br />

exciting new heights. Students who enroll in this new graduate program through the<br />

Raphael Recanati International School will be joining one of the leading academic<br />

institutions in Israel.<br />

IDC Herzliya has led this academic avant-garde movement since its inception. We<br />

combine the study of theory with real-world experience. Our educational method<br />

is based on an interdisciplinary approach, information technology and openness to<br />

the international horizon. Our outlook, which is rooted in the concepts of liberty<br />

and responsibility, emphasizes initiative and leadership alongside community service.<br />

International students not only benefit from this outlook, they also gain an all-<br />

encompassing introduction to the State of Israel which includes exploring its roots,<br />

enjoying the country’s unique scenery and learning of its rich history.<br />

Hugging the Mediterranean coastline six miles north of Tel Aviv, Herzliya has<br />

some of the most magnificent beaches and seaside hotels in the country. This city<br />

of almost 100,000 – along with the neighboring towns of Kfar Shmaryahu and<br />

Ra’anana – also has one of the highest concentrations in Israel of English-speaking<br />

residents, including immigrants from English-speaking countries and members of<br />

the diplomatic community. The English-Speaking Residents Association and the<br />

Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel sponsor a wide range of social and<br />

community events for English speakers living in this area.<br />

Herzliya also is the capital of the flourishing high-tech sector which has earned<br />

Israel the nickname “Silicon Wadi” and attracted the interest of the world’s leading<br />

venture-capital firms. Many of the Israeli software and biotech companies traded<br />

on American stock exchanges are located in the Herzliya area. Bweb, ComSoft<br />

Technologies, eWave, the Formula Group, Hewlett-Packard and HP Scitex, Horizon<br />

Semiconductors, IBM, Jacada, Matrix, Microsoft, Motorola, New Applicom, SAP<br />

Manage, Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems, VCON Telecommunications and<br />

VocalTec Communications are among the many international high-tech companies<br />

that are located near the IDC Herzliya campus.<br />

IDC Herzliya is at the heart of the high-tech education and diplomatic research<br />

that define Herzliya. Many of its faculty members, and an increasing number of its<br />

graduates, are key players in the transformation Israel’s society and economy have<br />

experienced in the past decade – and are still undergoing.<br />

TED ARISON<br />

(1924-1999)<br />

Ted Arison was born and raised in Tel Aviv. He began<br />

studying engineering at the American University in Beirut but<br />

left to enlist in the Jewish Brigade of the British Army during<br />

WWII. Mr. Arison went on to become a lieutenant-colonel in<br />

the Israel Defense Forces.<br />

Mr. Arison and his family moved to the United States in the<br />

early 1950s where he set up the Carnival Cruise Company in<br />

Miami, Florida which ultimately became one of the world’s<br />

preeminent firms in this field. He influenced the cultural life of Miami during the time<br />

he spent there by establishing the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts,<br />

founding the New World Symphony, and purchasing the Miami Heat NBA team.<br />

Mr. Arison founded the Arison Foundation in the U.S. and, in 1991, also established a<br />

foundation in Israel bearing his name. The Israeli foundation supports and contributes<br />

to education, health, research, and art. Mr. Arison and his wife, Lin, returned to Israel<br />

and opened Arison Investments, which today leads the group of partners in control of<br />

Bank Hapoalim. Arison Investments also has interests in real estate, communications,<br />

and high-tech.<br />

Mr. Arison died in October 1999. The Arison School of Business at the IDC was<br />

established in 1995.


RAPHAEL<br />

RECANATI<br />

(1924 – 1999)<br />

Raphael Recanati was a man of vision; more important, he<br />

was a person who delighted in putting vision to work. He<br />

would have been proud of the Raphael Recanati International<br />

School, which is modern Israel in action.<br />

Israel, he knew, could no longer be just the manifestation<br />

of its ancient promise or revolutionary Zionist prophesies. It<br />

must, through competitive achievements, assume a place of<br />

leadership in new global markets and find ways to participate<br />

as a full partner in the creation of Western culture and international political<br />

institutions. Israeli universities, for their part, must help prepare new generations, both<br />

in Israel and from abroad, to thrive in this emerging world.<br />

The Raphael Recanati International School rejects the convention of seeing Israel<br />

as a follower and invites students to come to IDC Herzliya to learn how to become<br />

leaders – as scientists, as entrepreneurs and as custodians of a uniquely human global<br />

Affordable Tuition<br />

Tuition at IDC Herzliya is significantly lower than tuitions of colleges and universities<br />

of a similar stature in the United States. The school’s graduates gain the equivalent<br />

of an education from a distinguished private college at a fraction of the cost.<br />

In addition, a limited number of scholarships are available based on academic<br />

Real-world Experience<br />

IDC Herzliya believes that it is important for students to apply the theories they<br />

learn in the classroom in the real world, with the guidance and support of faculty<br />

internships both on campus – at IDC Herzliya’s research institutes and as research<br />

assistants to faculty members – and off campus – at businesses and government<br />

The modern business world constantly presents managers<br />

with new challenges that require knowledge of a wide range<br />

of topics and an understanding of the international arena.<br />

The Arison School of Business strives to prepare executives<br />

and future business leaders for these challenges. To this<br />

end, we have developed an MBA program that consists of<br />

a high academic level and practical learning. The program<br />

is innovative, and it is continually updated to reflect new<br />

developments in business education and the global arena.<br />

It is created and taught by an internationally regarded faculty who has lectured at<br />

the world’s best universities, such as the Wharton School, University of Michigan,<br />

Columbia University, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, NYU, Cornell<br />

and others. They bring the best and latest in international education and a strong<br />

commitment to quality teaching. Since the initiation of our MBA program in 2001,<br />

it has been considered one of the leading academic programs in Israel.<br />

The Global MBA <strong>Program</strong>s are a new addition to our school and offer international<br />

students high-level MBA courses and the opportunity to study in Israel. There are<br />

two <strong>Program</strong>s which will be taught in English: Global Management MBA <strong>Program</strong><br />

(GMBA) and Global Entrepreneurship MBA <strong>Program</strong> (GEMBA) and the emphasis is<br />

THE<br />

STRUCTURE<br />

OF THE MBA<br />

PROGRAM<br />

The MBA <strong>Program</strong> will begin on October 26, 2008. The <strong>Program</strong> consists of six-week<br />

mini-semesters. Students will take three courses each mini-semester. Each of the<br />

courses offered during a mini-semester is worth one semester credit (one semester<br />

credit equals two academic credits). Each course will meet twice a week for eighty<br />

minutes or once a week for 160 minutes.<br />

Most classes will be held on Sunday afternoons and evenings and on Friday<br />

mornings. All students must participate in a Cross Cultural Course throughout the<br />

entire program. The course will be held once a month on a weeknight.<br />

Prior to the first mini-semester preparatory courses will be offered in statistics,<br />

economics and mathematics. The preparatory courses will be held in the evening.<br />

At the same time, a concentrated workshop will be given on management and<br />

leadership skills.<br />

Since the <strong>Program</strong> includes courses taught by guest lecturers who teach at leading<br />

universities around the world, some concentrated courses may include classes on<br />

other nights of the week.<br />

At the end of each mini-semester, there will be a vacation that is at least thirteen<br />

days long. Exams will be given during the vacation. There is not a second (make-up)<br />

exam period in the MBA <strong>Program</strong>.<br />

The Israeli Council for Higher Education has accredited IDC Herzliya to grant MBA<br />

degrees at its Arison School of Business.<br />

Opening Ceremony<br />

The <strong>Program</strong>’s opening ceremony will take place on Friday, October 24,2008 at<br />

10:00 a.m. Students will meet their fellow classmates and the <strong>Program</strong>’s academic<br />

and administrative staff this morning. Participating in the opening ceremony is vital<br />

to successfully integrating into the <strong>Program</strong>.<br />

This distinctive curriculum combines MBA studies with a specialization in Global<br />

Management. It includes the classic components of MBA studies with an international<br />

orientation and an emphasis on unique content that is relevant to conducting business<br />

in the global arena.<br />

The <strong>Program</strong> is designed for executives from Israel and abroad who operate in the<br />

international business arena, executives of multinational companies, exporters,<br />

importers, entrepreneurs, investment managers, and international real estate<br />

entrepreneurs and investors, among others. It was established to provide students<br />

with the tools needed to conduct business in the global arena.<br />

Throughout the course of studies students will examine the international arena from<br />

the perspective of different disciplines relevant to management such as marketing,<br />

finance, law and culture. Topics such as: cross cultural management (companies that<br />

operate in different countries), international strategic alliances, managing people in<br />

global markets and international law will be considered.<br />

The faculty consists of the best lecturers from the world’s leading business schools.<br />

They are involved in the business arenas of various countries and share their<br />

experience in the classroom. The <strong>Program</strong> operates under the academic guidance of<br />

Prof. Oded Shenkar, an expert on global management who has extensive experience<br />

conducting business in the Chinese arena. Prof. Shenkar has served as a consultant<br />

to many multinational companies, governments and international organizations, as<br />

well as having been a guest lecturer at many universities in China.<br />

A study trip to China is part of the curriculum and includes visiting international<br />

companies and meeting executives and businesspeople.<br />

The goal of the Global Entrepreneurship MBA <strong>Program</strong> is to encourage business<br />

leadership and to develop students’ entrepreneurial abilities via an innovative platform<br />

for entrepreneurship studies – learning through doing – which was developed by the<br />

Entrepreneurship Center at IDC Herzliya. The curriculum addresses entrepreneurship<br />

in all its aspects and allows students to gain practical experience by establishing a<br />

commercial or social venture. The <strong>Program</strong> builds on Israel’s status as a center of high-<br />

tech entrepreneurship and depends on IDC Herzliya’s reputation and resources as a<br />

leader in interdisciplinary education.<br />

The <strong>Program</strong> is an opportunity for students from a variety of cultural backgrounds<br />

from all parts of the world to interact and learn from one another. Students will<br />

create a unique international network of businesspeople with a shared vision and the<br />

potential to become leaders in the professional world.<br />

The <strong>Program</strong> is taught in English and is designed for students from Israel and abroad<br />

who have demonstrated entrepreneurial, business or leadership skills. The <strong>Program</strong> is<br />

challenging and intense and therefore is suitable for students interested in devoting<br />

most of their time and energy to developing their own ventures; that is, for true<br />

entrepreneurs.<br />

The Entrepreneurship <strong>Program</strong> endows students with wide-ranging theoretical<br />

knowledge and practical tools vital to entrepreneurship, while focusing on three<br />

dimensions:<br />

Entrepreneurship Studies: Specifically crafted courses in entrepreneurship<br />

studies. Courses include Entrepreneurial Finance, Strategic Innovation Management,<br />

Intellectual Property Rights, Intercultural Negotiations and Entrepreneurship in the<br />

Internet Era. These courses offer a rigorous curriculum with assignments that are<br />

tailored, whenever possible, to the businesses that students develop during the<br />

<strong>Program</strong>.<br />

Bringing Business to Life: This part of the <strong>Program</strong> provides a platform for creating<br />

new business and social enterprises during the <strong>Program</strong> itself. The platform to<br />

create a new business is the central component of the <strong>Program</strong>. It enables teams<br />

of students to develop a new business during their studies, from the conception<br />

of an idea to its fruition as a company producing value. The course core faculty<br />

and a mentor from the industry, who specializes in an area relevant to the team’s<br />

business, guide the teams through the process. Each team presents the business it is<br />

developing to panels of representatives of venture capital funds, entrepreneurs and<br />

businesspeople. The teams also have access to a variety of advisors who work with<br />

the Entrepreneurship Center at IDC Herzliya. Students enjoy the opportunity to learn<br />

from the experience of successful entrepreneurs and leading businesspeople.<br />

Entrepreneurs’ Tales: A significant part of the <strong>Program</strong>, this class consists of regular<br />

meetings with entrepreneurs, professionals and senior members of the business<br />

community to discuss a variety of topics related to entrepreneurship in an informal<br />

atmosphere. The union of the many experiences shared by the guest speakers with<br />

Prof. Amir Barnea<br />

PhD, Cornell University<br />

Prof. Barnea is the founding dean and a faculty member of the Arison School of<br />

Business. He was a professor of finance at Tel Aviv University and at Rice University<br />

in Houston, Texas and served as a visiting professor at leading American universities.<br />

His main areas of specialization are assessing financial assets and arbitration for<br />

corporate finance. Prof. Barnea has published many articles in top journals of<br />

finance and the book Agency Problems and Financial Contracting. He has served on<br />

numerous public committees and runs Barnea Financial Consulting.<br />

Prof. Elazar Berkovitch<br />

PhD, Northwestern University<br />

Prof. Berkovitch is the dean of the Arison School of Business and the director of its<br />

MBA <strong>Program</strong>. He has been a professor at Michigan University and at the School of<br />

Business Administration at Tel Aviv University. He also has taught at Northwestern<br />

University and the Technion. The primary focus of Prof. Berkovitch’s research is<br />

corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy, reorganization of firms,<br />

executive compensation and incentives. He has published many articles on finance in<br />

international journals. Prof. Berkovitch served as a member of the editorial board of<br />

the Review of Financial Studies and the European Financial Review.<br />

Prof. Jacob Boudoukh<br />

PhD, Stanford University<br />

Prof. Boudoukh is the academic director of the Caesarea Edmond Benjamin de<br />

Rothschild Center for Capital Markets and Risk Management at IDC Herzliya. He<br />

is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research in Boston and<br />

a faculty member of the Arison School of Business. From 1990 until 2004 he was<br />

a faculty member at the Stern School of Business, NYU. Prof. Boudoukh’s areas<br />

of expertise include asset pricing, global macro-investment management and risk<br />

management.<br />

Prof. Eyal Byalogorsky<br />

PhD, Duke University<br />

Dr. Biyalogorsky is a professor of Marketing at the Arison School of Business.<br />

Prior to coming to IDC Herzliya he taught at the University of California, Davis.<br />

His main areas of research include pricing, product and brand management, internet<br />

marketing, and managerial decision making. Dr. Biyalogorsky serves on the editorial<br />

board of Marketing Science, and has published articles in leading marketing journals<br />

such as Marketing Science and Journal of Marketing.<br />

Dr. Wayne Cascio<br />

PhD, University of Rochester<br />

Dr. Cascio is U.S. Bank Term Professor of Management at the University of Colorado<br />

Denver. He has published twenty-one books, and more than 135 articles and book<br />

chapters. His publications include: Investing in People; Managing Human Resources:<br />

Productivity, Quality of Work Life, Profits; Applied Psychology in Human Resource<br />

Management; Costing Human Resources: The Financial Impact of Behavior in<br />

Organizations; and, Responsible Restructuring: Creative and Profitable Alternatives<br />

to Layoffs. A former president of the Society for Industrial and Organizational<br />

Psychology and member of the Academy of Management’s Board of Governors,<br />

Dr. Cascio is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources,<br />

the Academy of Management, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational<br />

Psychology. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Geneva in<br />

2004, and has consulted to more than 150 organizations.<br />

Prof. Gilad Chen<br />

PhD, George Mason University<br />

Dr. Chen is an associate professor of Management & Organization at the University of<br />

Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Prior to joining the Smith School, he<br />

was on the faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University,<br />

and a visiting scholar at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,<br />

Technion, and Tel Aviv University. Dr. Chen teaches courses on organizational<br />

behavior, human resource management, and methodological topics and his research<br />

focuses on work motivation, teams and leadership, and research methodology<br />

with particular interests in gaining better understanding of leading and motivating<br />

employees working in teams, and examining multilevel organizational phenomena.<br />

He currently serves as associate editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology, and as an<br />

editorial board member of the Academy of Management Journal.<br />

Prof. Rafi Eldor<br />

PhD, Harvard University<br />

Prof. Eldor is the academic director of the Rich Center for the Study of Trading<br />

and Financial Markets at IDC Herzliya and the coordinator of the Finance Major<br />

at the Arison School of Business. He has taught at Tel Aviv, Boston, Columbia and<br />

Bar-Ilan Universities. He has served as chairman of the board of a publicly traded<br />

company, general manager of a money management firm and as a consultant on<br />

futures and options. Prof. Eldor has published articles in professional journals such<br />

as the International Economic Review, the Journal of Futures Markets, the Journal of<br />

International Economics, the Review of Economics, and the Journal of Finance and<br />

Statistics, as well as a book on futures and options.<br />

Prof. Jehoshua Eliashberg<br />

PhD, Indiana University<br />

Prof. Eliashberg is the Sebastian S. Kresge Professor of Marketing and Professor of<br />

Operations and Information Management at the Wharton School of the University of<br />

Pennsylvania. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of IDC Herzliya. Prof.<br />

Eliashberg has published many articles in leading marketing journals and serves as a<br />

senior consultant in the fields of marketing research and new product development<br />

in the entertainment, communication, and the pharmaceutical industries. His main<br />

research interests are: marketing, operations, R&D; marketing research; global<br />

marketing; new product planning and forecasting models; and, business issues in the<br />

entertainment and pharmaceutical industries.<br />

Dr. Dan Elnathan<br />

PhD, University of Pennsylvania<br />

Dr. Elnathan is on the faculty of the School of Business, College of Management,<br />

Rishon LeZion, Israel. His areas of interest include international financial reporting,<br />

management accounting, costing and control. Dr. Elnathan has been a faculty member<br />

at Tel Aviv University, the University of Southern California and a visiting professor at<br />

the University of Michigan, the Vlerick School of Business Administration in Belgium,<br />

and at Bar-Ilan University. He has lectured at numerous executive training programs in<br />

Israel, the USA, Europe and Asia and has served as a consultant to the Israel Securities<br />

Authority, the Israel Electric Company, and companies in the fields of electronics and<br />

security.<br />

Dr. Shachar Hadar<br />

SJD, Harvard Law School<br />

Dr. Hadar is a partner in the U.S. Group at Gross, Kleinhendler, Hodak, Berkman &<br />

Co. law firm (GKH&BW). Prior to joining GKH&BW in 2006, he was an associate<br />

in the Business Law Department at Goodwin Procter in Boston, Massachusetts,<br />

where he worked on a wide variety of corporate and securities matters. Dr. Hadar<br />

serves as ongoing corporate and securities counsel for both publicly traded and<br />

private companies in a variety of industries and his experience in corporate finance<br />

transactions includes representing issuers and underwriters in transactions such as<br />

IPO’s, follow-on offerings, 144A offerings and universal shelf offerings. Dr. Hadar is<br />

also an adjunct lecturer at Tel Aviv University and a member of both the Israel Bar<br />

Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.<br />

Prof. Ronen Israel<br />

PhD, Northwestern University<br />

Prof. Israel is a finance professor at the Arison School of Business, the director of<br />

the Entrepreneurship Center at IDC Herzliya, a visiting professor at the University of<br />

Chicago Graduate School of Business, and adjunct Professor at Columbia Business<br />

School. Prof. Israel has served as a finance professor both at Michigan University<br />

Business School and Carnegie Mellon University and taught in the MBA programs<br />

at the Kellog School of Management at Northwestern University, Duke University,<br />

the London Business School, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in Italy and the<br />

Technion. He has published many articles in leading economic journals on corporate<br />

finance. His main research interests are the capital allocation process, organizational<br />

design, capital structure and bankruptcy. Prof. Israel’s current research focuses on<br />

entrepreneurial finance, the capital allocation process and managerial compensation.<br />

Dr. Varda Liberman<br />

PhD, Tel Aviv University<br />

Dr. Liberman is the vice dean of the Arison School of Business and the director of<br />

Mathematical and Statistical Studies at the IDC. She served as an associate researcher<br />

at the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University and at Stanford<br />

University where she continues to serve as a visiting researcher every summer. Her<br />

research interest deals with probabilistic judgments and decision making in which Dr.<br />

Liberman co-authored the book Critical Thinking with the late Amos Tversky. As an<br />

expert on decision making, Dr. Liberman gives lectures and executive training courses<br />

for Israeli organizations such as banks, investment companies and the Israel Defense<br />

Forces.


Prof. Sarit Markovitch<br />

PhD, Tel Aviv University<br />

Dr. Markovitch is an assistant professor of Management & Strategy at IDC Herzliya.<br />

Prior to joining the IDC faculty, she was a professor of strategy at Kellogg School of<br />

Management at Northwestern University and the Recanati Business School at Tel Aviv<br />

University. Dr. Marcovitch’s current research and teaching interests include dynamic<br />

models of oligopolies, and applied microeconomics with particular focus on firms’<br />

strategic behavior in markets with network effects, advertising dynamics, bundling<br />

activities, as well as patents.<br />

Prof. Rafi Melnick<br />

PhD, University of California, Berkeley<br />

Prof. Melnick joined the IDC in 1998. Prior to that he held teaching positions at the<br />

Hebrew University of Jerusalem and visiting positions at Boston University and the<br />

University of California, Davis. Prof. Melnick served as deputy director of research<br />

at the Bank of Israel. He has published a variety of articles in professional journals<br />

in the areas of monetary economics, inflation, the Israeli economy and applied<br />

econometrics. Prof. Melnick developed the State of the Economy Index for the Israeli<br />

economy which is published by the IDC on a monthly basis. His professional activities<br />

include serving as chairman of the investment committee of Migdal Insurance<br />

Company. In the past he was chairman of the investment committee at Hamagen<br />

Insurance Company, economic consultant to Bank Leumi, member of the board of<br />

directors of Ofek Securities and Investment Ltd. and research associate at the Center<br />

for Social Policy Studies in Israel.<br />

Prof. Roni Michaely<br />

PhD, New York University<br />

Prof. Michaely is the Rudd Family Professor of Management at Cornell University and<br />

a finance lecturer at the Arison School of Business. His research focuses on corporate<br />

finance, particularly raising capital and IPO policies, and he has published articles on<br />

finance in leading international journals including the Review of Financial Studies.<br />

A study published in the Journal of Finance Literature ranked Prof. Michaely number<br />

thirty-four, out of 332 researchers, based on the number of articles that they had<br />

published in the world’s top seven finance journals over the past fifty years. In 2006,<br />

the readers of the Journal of Financial Economics selected an article of his as the best<br />

one in the corporate and organizational finance category. Prof. Michaely has served<br />

on the board of the Israel Securities Authority.<br />

Dr. Talia Rymon<br />

PhD, University of Pennsylvania<br />

Dr. Rymon is the deputy dean of the Arison School of Business and heads the<br />

marketing programs at IDC Herzliya. She was a member of the Marketing Faculty<br />

at Carnegie Mellon University from 1993 to 1996 and then joined the IDC Herzliya.<br />

Dr. Rymon’s research interests include marketing strategy, competitive signaling,<br />

behavioral game theory and services marketing. She serves as a judge in leading<br />

marketing competitions in Israel, such as the Effie Awards and the ‘Product of the<br />

Year’ competition.<br />

Prof. Oded Sarig<br />

PhD, University of California, at Berkeley<br />

Prof. Sarig is the Shrem, Fudim, Kelner Professor of Finance at the Arison School of<br />

Business where he was a former dean. He has taught at Columbia University, Tel Aviv<br />

University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His research<br />

focuses on theoretical and empirical dilemmas in corporate finance. Prof. Sarig has<br />

published articles in leading academic journals and co-authored two books, Corporate<br />

Finance: A Valuation Approach and Dividend Policy: Its Impact on Firm Value.<br />

Prof. Shimon Schocken<br />

PhD, University of Pennsylvania<br />

Prof. Schocken is the founding dean of the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science<br />

at IDC Herzliya and the IDB Professor of Information Technology. He was the<br />

recipient of the ICIS Best Doctoral Dissertation in Information Technologies Award.<br />

Prof. Schocken served as an associate professor and director of the undergraduate<br />

program in information systems at New York University for a decade. In 2005<br />

he was a visiting professor at Harvard University. Prof. Schocken has published<br />

books and articles on artificial intelligence, decision theory and computer science<br />

fundamentals. He recently developed an innovative course on building digital<br />

systems that led to a book published by MIT Press and an IBM Eclipse Scholar Award<br />

in software engineering.<br />

Dr. Mark Schwartz<br />

PhD, York University<br />

Dr. Mark Schwartz is associate professor of Governance, Law and Ethics at York<br />

University, Toronto and sessional lecturer in the Legal Studies and Business Ethics<br />

Department of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He has published in a<br />

number of academic journals including the Journal of Business Ethics, Business Ethics<br />

Quarterly, and Business & Society. He is a co-author of the textbook Business Ethics:<br />

Readings and Cases in Corporate Morality and is a research fellow of the Business<br />

Ethics Center of Jerusalem. Dr. Schwartz has consulted with a number of business<br />

firms and governments around the world on topics related to business ethics.<br />

Dr. Dan Segal<br />

PhD, New York University<br />

Dr. Segal is a faculty member at the Arison School of Business. He has degrees in<br />

business administration, economics and accounting. His primary research interests<br />

include financial accounting issues such as the effects of accounting information on<br />

economic decisions, earnings management, the conservatism principle and company<br />

valuation. Dr. Segal has published research papers in leading accounting and finance<br />

journals such as the Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting Research and<br />

Review of Financial Studies.<br />

Prof. Oded Shenkar<br />

PhD, Columbia University<br />

Prof. Shenkar is the academic advisor of the Global Management <strong>Program</strong> (GMBA) at<br />

IDC Herzliya. His academic training is in business administration, East Asian (Chinese)<br />

studies and sociology. He specializes in Chinese management systems, cross-border<br />

alliances and mergers, and the management of multinational companies. Prof.<br />

Shenkar holds the Ford Motor Company Chair of Global Business Management and is<br />

a professor of Management and Human Resources at the Fisher College of Business,<br />

Ohio State University. He was a senior visiting fellow at Cambridge University and<br />

has taught at leading universities around the world. He also serves as a consultant to<br />

multinational enterprises, governments, international institutions and universities. Prof.<br />

Shenkar is vice president of the Academy of International Business. He has published<br />

numerous articles in major journals and is the author of many books, most recently<br />

The Chinese Century.<br />

Dr. Etay Shilony<br />

PhD, Boston University<br />

Dr. Shilony has held faculty appointments at Boston University, Harvard University<br />

Medical School and Tel Aviv University. Dr. Shilony’s interest and experience in<br />

management dates back to the early 1990s when he served as general director of<br />

a chain of clinics in Boston. He established and directed the Miriam and Sheldon<br />

Adelson Clinic at the Sorasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv. He is the founder and CEO of<br />

S2R – Strategy to Results management consulting firm which brings together his vast<br />

managerial experience combined with in depth academic and practical understanding<br />

of leadership, management, organizational behavior, group behavior, and system’s<br />

functioning. For the past seven years Dr. Shilony was been teaching Management<br />

Psychology, Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship Management at<br />

IDC’s MBA <strong>Program</strong>.<br />

Dr. Neil Wilkof<br />

JD, University of Chicago; PhD, University of Illinois<br />

Dr. Wilkof is a partner and head of the Intellectual Property and Information<br />

Technology Department of the law firm of Herzog Fox & Neeman, Tel Aviv. Dr.Wilkof<br />

has served as an adjunct lecturer at Bar-Ilan University, the University of Haifa and the<br />

ITT Chicago-Kent School of Law and as a consultant to the Global Entrepreneurship<br />

MBA <strong>Program</strong> (GMBA). Dr. Wilkof is the author of the first edition and is co-author<br />

with Daniel Burkitt of the second edition of Trade Mark Licensing and is a co-editor of<br />

Intellectual Property in the Global Marketplace. He is a member of the editorial board<br />

of the European Trade Mark Reports, European Copyright and Design Reports and the<br />

Oxford Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice.<br />

Prof. Yoram (Jerry) Wind<br />

PhD, Stanford University<br />

Prof. Wind is the chairman of the Higher Academic Committee and International<br />

Advisory Board of IDC Herzliya. He is a marketing professor at the Wharton School<br />

of the University of Pennsylvania where he is also the director of the SEI Center for<br />

Advanced Studies in Management. Prof. Wind is the founding director of the Joseph<br />

H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies. He serves as a senior<br />

marketing consultant to American, European and multinational companies.


Dr. Orly Yeheskel<br />

PhD, Tel Aviv University<br />

Dr. Yeheskel heads IDC Herzliya’s Executive Education Unit and is on the faculty of<br />

the Arison School of Business. Her PhD dissertation dealt with researching the factors<br />

that influence the success and failure of joint international ventures. She teaches and<br />

conducts research on: relations between organizations and the business environment<br />

(with an emphasis on high-tech start-ups), organizational structure and adapting<br />

it to the demands and characteristics of the environment, organizational change,<br />

organizational effectiveness, international management, and managing strategic<br />

international alliances. Dr. Yeheskel has taught in the MBA <strong>Program</strong> at Tel Aviv<br />

University and in various executive education programs at the University of Reading<br />

in the U.K.<br />

Dr. Lior Zemer<br />

PhD, York University<br />

Dr. Zemer is a lecturer at the Radzyner School of Law the IDC Herzliya, a visiting<br />

associate professor at Boston University School of Law, a visiting professor at Bar-<br />

Ilan University and a research fellow at the International and European Research<br />

Centre at Ghent University, Belgium. He previously taught at the faculties of law in<br />

Leicester and Birmingham, UK, and York University, Toronto. Prior to joining legal<br />

academia he served as the assistant lawyer to Judge J.D. Cooke at the European<br />

Court of First Instance and Judge S. von Bahr at the European Court of Justice in<br />

Luxembourg. Dr. Zemer’s research interests include intellectual property law and<br />

policy, jurisprudence, international and European law and he has recently published<br />

the book The Idea of Authorship in Copyright.<br />

Application Period<br />

Application period for the academic year 2008/9, which begins November 2008,<br />

is January 1, 2008 – April 30, 2008. Late application period is May 1, 2008 –<br />

July 1, 2008.<br />

In order to be considered applicants during a specific application period, interested<br />

parties must submit all information, grades and official documents required to<br />

evaluate their applications by the last date of the relevant application period.<br />

IDC Herzliya reserves the right to impose stricter criteria upon applicants during<br />

the late application period or upon applicants who submit material late. A smaller<br />

number of applicants will be admitted during the later period. Preference will be<br />

given to applicants who submit all required material during the earlier period.<br />

Application Fee<br />

Application fee: $80. U.S.<br />

The application fee covers part of the expense of processing and evaluating an<br />

application to study at IDC Herzliya. It will not be refunded in any case, even if an<br />

applicant decides to withdraw his or her application.<br />

Applicant Status<br />

1. Applicants who do not submit all required information and documents with their<br />

application forms, but intend to do so at a later point, should note this at the<br />

appropriate place on the application form.<br />

2. Applicants must submit all information and documents to the Admissions<br />

Department by July 1, 2008, in all cases.<br />

3. Applicants who begin the application process during the regular application<br />

period and complete it during the late application period will be considered to<br />

have applied during the late application period, with all that this entails.<br />

Applicants who submit unofficial copies of documents will be evaluated based<br />

on the documents they submit. If they are accepted, they must submit an official<br />

copy of the document within seven days of receiving a letter of acceptance.<br />

Applicants who do not do so risk having the offer of acceptance withdrawn<br />

and/or having their application reevaluated during a later stage of the application<br />

process.<br />

4. The Admissions Department will notify applicants upon receiving their<br />

applications. The notification will indicate whether the entire application was<br />

received or only parts of it. In the latter case, it will list what the applicant must<br />

submit to complete the application process.<br />

5. Applicants who do not submit official copies of the missing documents during<br />

the requisite period will be considered as having withdrawn their applications to<br />

study at IDC Herzliya.<br />

6. Applicants who complete their applications after the late application period ends<br />

and who meet the admission criteria will be admitted if space remains in the<br />

program.


Official Documents to Submit<br />

1. Official transcripts of previous academic studies (undergraduate or graduate<br />

degrees), including a final grade point average (GPA).<br />

2. Official results of the GMAT exam.* Applicants can ask the testing agency to send<br />

the results directly to IDC Herzliya.<br />

3. Documents verifying applicants’ professional experience since completing their<br />

undergraduate education.<br />

4. Two letters of recommendation. It is recommended to submit one letter from a<br />

source who can comment on the applicant’s academic abilities and one source<br />

who can comment on the applicant’s professional experience.<br />

Official documents should be submitted in one of the following manners:<br />

A. Official document bearing the stamp of the institution which issued it.<br />

B. Notarized photocopy of the official document.<br />

C. A photocopy of the document may be submitted if the original is shown to the<br />

Admissions Department.<br />

If requested, IDC Herzliya will return documents which are submitted via<br />

registered mail to applicants. Otherwise, documents will be returned via regular mail.<br />

Applicants with Degrees from Abroad<br />

The application procedures apply – with the necessary changes – to candidates with<br />

degrees earned in countries other than Israel. Their degrees will be considered and a<br />

decision on their candidacy will be made by a special admissions committee.<br />

* Candidates with extensive professional experience and/or outstanding achievements in their previous<br />

academic studies may submit a detailed request for an exemption from the GMAT to the admissions<br />

committee. However, applicants to the business consulting major may not request an exemption from<br />

the GMAT.<br />

Application Process<br />

1. The application process consists of two stages:<br />

Stage A: Evaluation of the information the applicants submit; grades from<br />

previous academic studies; GMAT results; and evidence of professional<br />

experience.<br />

Stage B: Applicants who successfully pass Stage A will be invited to an interview,<br />

at the discretion of the admissions committee.<br />

2. The MBA program is designed for individuals who can demonstrate that they<br />

have three or more years of professional experience. Individuals with outstanding<br />

executive experience will receive preference in admissions decisions.<br />

3. The admission requirements for the Entrepreneurship <strong>Program</strong> (GEMBA) include<br />

an undergraduate degree, GMAT results and a special evaluation process that<br />

involves interviews during which the applicant must demonstrate business<br />

entrepreneurship or leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.<br />

4. Applicants to the Global MBA <strong>Program</strong>s must demonstrate proficiency in<br />

English by meeting one of the following criteria:<br />

A. A score of 35 or above on the verbal section of the GMAT.<br />

B. A score of 250 or above on the computerized TOEFL or of 550 on the<br />

written TOEFL.<br />

C. Completing at least one year of study at a high school or university at which<br />

the main language of instruction is English.<br />

5. IDC Herzliya has an equal opportunity admissions policy and does not<br />

discriminate between candidates based on race, gender, religion or nationality.<br />

6. The admissions committee will evaluate and reach decisions (accepted, waitlisted<br />

or rejected) within 45 days of the deadlines for the regular and late application<br />

periods.<br />

7. In cases in which decisions are delayed, applicants will receive letters explaining<br />

the reasons for this.<br />

8. Applicants who are accepted must complete the application process by paying a<br />

tuition deposit. Paying the deposit is a commitment to study at IDC Herzliya in the<br />

coming academic year and to comply with the tuition regulations.<br />

9. Applicants who are accepted but do not pay the deposit described above in clause<br />

8 will be considered to have withdrawn their candidacy to study at IDC Herzliya<br />

and their place in the class will be given to the next person on the waiting list.<br />

MBA <strong>Program</strong> Tuition<br />

1. The entire tuition for the Global Management (GMBA), which begins in<br />

November 2008, is $25,000. U.S. (if paid in cash).<br />

2. The entire tuition for the Global Entrepreneurship (GEMBA), which begins in<br />

November 2008, is $27,000. U.S. (if paid in cash).<br />

This amount must be paid in cash by October 25, 2008.<br />

A deposit of $2,500. U.S. must be paid by the date stamped on the payment<br />

voucher.<br />

3. Prior to the academic year, all students will receive forms which will allow them to<br />

arrange to pay their tuition in one of the following four manners:<br />

A. Cash payment by November 1, 2008.<br />

B. 12 payments via bank order.<br />

C. 12 payments via payment vouchers.<br />

D. Payment via credit card (cash or credit)<br />

Students who select options B, C and D will incur interest and handling<br />

charges.<br />

4. The tuition of $25,000. U.S. listed above in clause 1 does not include the cost of<br />

the study trip abroad.<br />

5. The cost of most of the textbooks required for the program is included in the<br />

tuition.<br />

6. Tuition will not be reduced for students who receive an exemption from courses<br />

in English or courses they took during their previous studies.<br />

7. Students who cease their studies or do not begin them after being accepted and<br />

paying the deposit will be charged according to the Regulations for the Cessation<br />

of Studies.<br />

8. Preparatory course tuition is $450. U.S. per course. Tuition must be paid by the<br />

date stamped on the payment voucher.


Regulation for Cessation of Studies<br />

A student who has enrolled at the IDC and has paid the down payment will be<br />

considered an IDC student in every respect. In the event that personal circumstances<br />

arise that prevent a student from fulfilling his/her commitment to study at the IDC,<br />

the student may cancel his/her enrollment by formally notifying the administration<br />

office and the tuition dept. The IDC will charge the student for the relative tuition<br />

fee according to the date of the cancellation notification.<br />

Please read the paragraph below (procedure for cancellation) in order to prevent any<br />

misunderstandings in the future.<br />

Procedure for Cancellation/Cessation of Studies<br />

A student who has paid the tuition down payment for the academic year, and has<br />

decided to cancel his/her enrollment, must notify the administration office in writing.<br />

The student must submit the letter in person, send it by registered mail or fax it and<br />

confirm its receipt by the department. In addition, the student must bring the receipts<br />

of all tuition/rent payments and all of the documents he/she had received from the<br />

IDC (including a student handbook and student card) to the administration office.<br />

Only after all of the instructions above are completed and all tuition payments are<br />

settled in accordance with the below mentioned schedule, will the student’s account<br />

be closed.<br />

In order to avoid any misunderstanding, a telephone conversation will not be<br />

considered official notice of cessation of studies; only a formal notice in writing from<br />

the student, submitted to the student administration office will be considered valid<br />

in this matter.<br />

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION<br />

IDC Herzliya’s first graduates and administration together founded the Alumni<br />

Association in 1998. It has grown to have some 6,000 members. Alumni from various<br />

schools and years volunteer to serve on the Alumni Association Board, planning its<br />

activities with the director, Adv. Adi Olmert, who is an IDC Herzliya alumna herself.<br />

The Alumni Association seeks to foster relationships between alumni, as well as<br />

between alumni and IDC Herzliya, and to encourage graduates to help one another<br />

advance common goals. The Alumni Association’s goals include establishing a<br />

dynamic network of alumni in order to help alumni further their professional careers<br />

Debating, Volunteering and Leading<br />

IDC Herzliya’s Berman-Lippa Family Foundation Debating Club is the largest debating<br />

club in Israel and one of the most popular activities at IDC Herzliya. The club has<br />

represented IDC Herzliya in competitions in Israel and abroad, winning first prize at the<br />

European University Debating Championship in the “English as a Second Language”<br />

category. Another anchor of extracurricular activities is the IDC Entrepreneurship<br />

Club, which facilitates the exchange of information and views among students with<br />

entrepreneurial interests and ideas, faculty members and successful entrepreneurs.<br />

Social responsibility is woven into student life as well. Reflecting IDC Herzliya’s<br />

philosophy that campuses should be an integral part of their communities, many<br />

student activities focus on serving the public. Some extracurricular activities allow<br />

students to use their newly acquired knowledge to contribute to the community. For<br />

example, business administration students mentor budding entrepreneurs at local<br />

middle schools through the Young Entrepreneurs Israel <strong>Program</strong>.<br />

Students can earn academic credit for participating in selected activities.<br />

Setting the Agenda<br />

IDC Herzliya is renowned for establishing the annual forum that has become a<br />

cornerstone of public debate in Israel – the Herzliya Conference on the Balance of<br />

Israel’s National Strength and Security. Israel’s prime ministers have chosen to use the<br />

Herzliya Conference as a platform for delivering the “State of the Nation Address”<br />

and presenting major policy decisions to the public. This year, Israel’s President<br />

Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Defense<br />

Minister Ehud Barak, Binyamin Netanyahu, IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, and<br />

Ambassador Dan Gillerman were joined by guests from overseas, Ambassador John<br />

R. Bolton and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt.<br />

Guest speakers from Israel and abroad who are renowned for their experience and<br />

knowledge in a variety of fields come to the campus throughout the year to lecture<br />

to classes and participate in major conferences on topics ranging from reinventing<br />

Israeli government to the Six Day War Revisited to the media’s impact during<br />

the Second Lebanon War. They have included Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Robert<br />

Aumann; Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer; author Amos Oz; and Jewish<br />

Agency for Israel Chairman Zeev Bielski. Guest speakers from abroad have included<br />

former French prime minister Laurent Fabius, former Spanish prime minister Jose<br />

Mariaץ Aznar and Prof. Alan Dershowitz of Harvard University, who will be teaching<br />

at IDC Herzliya in the upcoming academic year.<br />

Student Union<br />

The Student Union is an apolitical organization that strives to enhance student life in<br />

Israel and assist both IDC Herzliya students and the community. Representatives from<br />

each class are elected to the Student Union. It publishes a student-run magazine,<br />

Moed Bet, in English and Hebrew. The magazine serves both as a news organ and<br />

a forum for discussion of relevant issues. Useful information on academic and other<br />

matters, such as renting an apartment, is available at the Student Union’s office.<br />

In addition to organizing cultural and social events, such as the annual Student Day<br />

festival, the Student Union sponsors peer-based assistance programs to help students<br />

cope with academic or economic difficulties and address special needs.<br />

The Student Union also encourages students to become involved in the community<br />

by sponsoring a variety of volunteer activities, including tutoring Herzliya<br />

schoolchildren and holiday visits to the children’s wards at hospitals.<br />

As part of the IDC Herzliya community, the international students are encouraged to<br />

take part in Student Union activities.<br />

Career Development Center<br />

The IDC Herzliya Career Development Center serves as a bridge between the<br />

educational and the professional periods in the lives of IDC Herzliya students and<br />

graduates. The Center strives to prepare students to enter the workplace and to assist<br />

them in locating suitable employment opportunities. The Center provides a variety of<br />

counseling, placement and informational services tailored to meet the specific needs<br />

of the students and graduates. These services include personal career counseling<br />

and assistance as well as lectures and workshops on job-seeking strategies, career<br />

management and other relevant topics. In addition, the Center presents companies<br />

and creates recruitment and networking opportunities. The Center also maintains a<br />

frequently updated listing of job openings in Israel for students and graduates and a<br />

resource center with information about organizations and companies.<br />

Hillel<br />

The IDC Herzliya Hillel House serves as a hub for Jewish activities on campus and a<br />

platform that enables a variety of student initiatives. It aims to enrich students’ lives<br />

with meaningful Jewish experiences. The IDC Herzliya Hillel House strives to meet the<br />

specific needs of international, veteran Israeli and new immigrant students through<br />

activities that celebrate the broad spectrum of languages and cultures in Israel.<br />

Activities include Friday night dinners, trips around Israel, weekend seminars and<br />

celebrations of Jewish and Israeli holidays.<br />

Psychological Services<br />

The IDC Herzliya Psychological Counseling Service is designed to promote the health<br />

and well-being of students. A resident psychologist provides professional individualized<br />

counseling in both scholastic and personal matters. All counseling is kept strictly<br />

confidential. The Psychological Counseling Service also sponsors workshops on topics<br />

such as coping with anxiety in testing situations and overcoming learning disabilities.<br />

THE CAMPUS:<br />

AN ACADEMIC VILLAGE<br />

IDC Herzliya’s campus is located close to an urban area with one of the highest<br />

concentrations of high-tech firms in Israel, yet the campus itself has a pastoral<br />

character. The campus is an academic village designed to create a stimulating learning<br />

and research environment. It serves some 3,400 students and is designed to ultimately<br />

serve as many as 5,500. Visitors find it hard to believe that it was built on the<br />

foundations of a dilapidated military training base.<br />

The elegant, modern buildings housing the Arison School of Business, the Lauder<br />

School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy and the Marc Rich Library all were<br />

awarded the prestigious Zeev and Yacov Rechter Prize in Architecture in 2005. Like<br />

the new buildings for the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science and the Sammy Ofer<br />

School of Communications, they are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure<br />

designed to enhance the learning experience through digital presentations, studio<br />

learning and video conferencing. Podiums in lecture halls are equipped with<br />

multimedia computer links to the campus network, the internet, cable TV and<br />

videoconferencing facilities. A wireless internet network provides internet access<br />

from selected spots on campus.<br />

Lawns, gardens and flowerbeds connect the lecture halls, library, faculty offices<br />

and computer labs to recreational areas, such as student and faculty lounges, the<br />

cafeteria and the campus bookstore. Archaeological treasures and works by local and<br />

international artists – on loan or donated by IDC Herzliya friends – adorn the walls of<br />

meeting rooms and halls around the campus. Two interesting spots on campus are<br />

the sculpture garden and the exhibition on “Business and Government in the Land of<br />

Israel in Ancient Times.”<br />

FEELING AT HOME<br />

Beyond the Classroom<br />

Studying in an academic institution in Israel is a fantastic way for students to become<br />

acquainted with contemporary Israel and its priorities and trends, as well as with the<br />

long, rich history of the Jewish People. The staff of the Raphael Recanati International<br />

School feels a responsibility to take students beyond the boundaries of the IDC<br />

Herzliya campus and expose them to all that Israel has to offer, from the Golan<br />

Heights in the north to the Red Sea in the south. This is done through a variety of<br />

extracurricular activities. They include fieldtrips, seminars and events in uniquely Israeli<br />

locations, such as Masada and Jerusalem; hiking trips in the Galilee and the Negev;<br />

and becoming better acquainted with Israeli society by volunteering in the Herzliya<br />

community. The municipality of Herzliya invites the school’s students to the cultural<br />

events and performances it organizes free of charge. The school also organizes events<br />

on campus, such as a theater club and the Ambassadors Club, which teaches Israel<br />

advocacy and diplomacy. In addition, a wide range of social events – from barbeques<br />

to beach parties to formal receptions – bring together international and Israeli<br />

students. These activities are intended for undergraduate students but are certainly<br />

open to graduate students if their schedules permit.<br />

Visa and Status Assistance<br />

Students are responsible for clarifying and establishing their status in Israel and can<br />

turn to the Raphael Recanati International School staff for advice and assistance.<br />

Before commencing studies, all students must clarify their status and eligibility for<br />

a visa or Israeli citizenship with the Israeli embassy or consulate in their county<br />

of origin. International students who are children of Israeli parents must settle all<br />

matters, such as deferment of military service, with the nearest Israeli embassy or<br />

Health Insurance<br />

All IDC Herzliya students are required to have comprehensive health insurance<br />

coverage throughout their studies. Israeli citizens, including new immigrants, receive<br />

health insurance for a low monthly fee in accordance with the country’s health<br />

insurance legislation. An Israeli health fund provides a special insurance plan for<br />

international students at IDC Herzliya. The plan provides comprehensive health<br />

coverage and high-level primary and secondary medical care for $500. This includes<br />

hospitalization, a 24-hour English-language hotline, house calls and subsidized<br />

medication. Students can sign up for health insurance through the Raphael Recanati<br />

International School after enrolling at the school by using the form in the school’s<br />

confirmation booklet or by requesting a health insurance form from the school’s office.<br />

Prices are subject to change due to fluctuations in market prices and currency exchange rates.


SCHOLARSHIPS<br />

Various scholarship opportunities are available to students at the Raphael Recanati<br />

International School. The scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence.<br />

Masa Scholarships<br />

The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office cosponsor the<br />

Masa project to encourage young Jews who are not Israeli citizens to study in Israel.<br />

Students up to the age of 30 can receive a grant from Masa to go towards tuition at<br />

the Raphael Recanati International School. Students will receive an initial grant based<br />

on their country of origin and can apply for additional funding of up to $10,000.<br />

which is awarded based on financial need.<br />

Application forms for Masa must be submitted to the Raphael Recanati International<br />

School, which will stamp the application and forward it to Masa. Masa will not accept<br />

applications without an RRIS stamp. Please note, Masa is an independent initiative and<br />

therefore its criteria for evaluating scholarship requests may differ from those used to<br />

evaluate requests for the Raphael Recanati International School Scholarships.<br />
