INTEGRATION WITH SAP BUSINESS WAREHOUSE<br />
You may be using the SAP Business Warehouse<br />
(SAP BW) application or SAP BW powered by<br />
SAP HANA for your warehousing needs. If so,<br />
you can use the expert interface to connect<br />
SAP Predictive Analytics directly to SAP BW<br />
or SAP BW on SAP HANA using a native BI<br />
consumer services (BICS) connection. By<br />
connecting to info providers of SAP BW and executing<br />
SAP Business Explorer® (SAP BEx) tools<br />
queries, you can download data sets for offline<br />
model training (see Figure 6). You can even<br />
eliminate the need to manually export data to<br />
a file for predictive analysis.<br />

CLIENT-SERVER PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS<br />
You can deploy SAP Predictive Analytics in a<br />
client-server configuration to create and process<br />
models remotely and publish them to a central<br />
repository for sharing with other users. The addition<br />
of a predictive analytics server in the environment<br />
enables you to move from executing<br />
a single model interactively to automating the<br />
creation, execution, and validation of thousands<br />
of models. And you can do this without needing<br />
to be in front of your desktop.<br />
The user component of this server is model<br />
manager, a thin-client, Web-based application<br />
that allows all users to automate as much of the<br />
predictive lifecycle as possible, such as:<br />

Retraining a model<br />
••<br />
Applying a model to a new data set<br />
••<br />
Detecting model deviations<br />
••<br />
Detecting deviation of a data set<br />
In a database environment that is not using<br />
SAP HANA, the predictive analytics server<br />
extracts data from the source database and<br />
computes the models locally in the same manner<br />
as the desktop to perform its functions.<br />
Note: When using a license for SAP Predictive<br />
Analytics software for use with databases other<br />
than SAP HANA, you cannot use the software<br />
with SAP HANA without obtaining the corresponding<br />
license. In addition, you cannot use<br />
the desktop of SAP Predictive Analytics with<br />
SAP HANA–specific features such as the predictive<br />
analysis library or integration to an external<br />
R server.<br />
