Socio-economic variables and also some of the variables that drive climate may change in the future in many different ways, being impossible to predict which will be the actual one. Future climate scenarios are to be constructed according to certain hypothesis about future human activities that alter the composition of the atmosphere and as a consequence the global climate. This chapter describes the different available methodologies for preparing future climate scenarios; in particular, the advantages and disadvantages of global climate models are introduced.
