“TAU International” is a new framework<br />

for TAU’s growing offerings for<br />

overseas students. Alongside the diverse<br />

international programs already being<br />

run, TAU is offering five new programs<br />

<strong>this</strong> year and three <strong>more</strong> for 2012-13,<br />

including two full bachelor degrees.<br />

International MA in Jewish<br />

Studies<br />

This interdisciplinary program<br />

provides students with knowledge on<br />

Jewish culture, civilization and history<br />

through a wide range of periods.<br />

Topics include biblical theology and<br />

exegisis, the history of the Hebrew language,<br />

comparative study of rabbinic<br />

and Christian texts, readings in the<br />

Talmud, Jewish mysticism and magic<br />

and modern Jewish philosophy and<br />

Kabala. An advanced summer school in<br />

rabbinic literature is planned for 2012.<br />

International MA in<br />

Archaeology and the History<br />

of the Land of the Bible<br />

Taught by some of the biggest names<br />

in the field of biblical archaeology, <strong>this</strong><br />

program offers a unique window into the<br />

Land of Israel’s perplexing and complex<br />

past, while introducing students to issues<br />

of theory and methodology, and<br />

giving them fieldwork experience in the<br />

most important excavations conducted<br />

in Israel by TAU scholars. The program<br />

provides the most up-to-date scientific<br />

context for archaeological, historical and<br />

biblical studies. Program head is Prof.<br />

Oded Lipschits.<br />

Environmental Studies<br />

Drawing on the Porter School for<br />

Environmental Studies’ standing as<br />

one of Israel’s leading centers for environmental<br />

teaching and research, the<br />

program imparts multidisciplinary geographical,<br />

social and political perspectives<br />

on environmental challenges that<br />

are affecting countries the world over,<br />

such as water policy, marine conservation,<br />

and trans-boundary environmental<br />

Management (EMPH)<br />

Some 22 professionals from around<br />

the world are currently enrolled in the<br />

new International Master’s Program in<br />

Emergency & Disaster Management<br />

(EMPH) offered by the Sackler School<br />

of <strong>Medicine</strong>. A master’s degree in public<br />

health, the program is imparting Israel’s<br />

unique insight on emergency management<br />

– gained over decades of firs<strong>than</strong>d<br />

experience of security crises. Head of<br />

the Program is Prof. Kobi Peleg.<br />
