Key findings:<br />
• Interviewees and survey respondents <strong>report</strong> motivation/personal initiative, openness<br />
to ideas, self-efficacy/confidence, original problem solving and strategic thinking as<br />
key employee characteristics that contribute towards innovative working.<br />
• Attracting and investing in innovative employees was also noted as important with<br />
‘investment in talent for <strong>innovation</strong>’ ranked as one of the top catalysts for innovative<br />
working.<br />
• Despite recognising the importance of including <strong>innovation</strong> within selection and<br />
recruitment material, only 29 per cent of surveyed organisations currently act upon this.<br />
Implications:<br />
• Organisations can do more in their HR practices to actively identify and develop employee<br />
attributes and potential for innovative working.
