AMHERST<br />

A town otf six thousand inhabitants, is beautifully loca'ted<br />

in the valley east of the Connecticut River and north<br />

of the Holyoke rang-e of mountains. It is the seat O'f two<br />

noted educational institutions—<strong>Amherst</strong> College and Massachusetts<br />

Agricultural College. Originally part of the town<br />

of <strong>Hadley</strong>.<br />

The Central ^Massachusetts division of the B. & M. R. R.<br />

and New London Northern division of the C. V. Ry. pass<br />

through the town. Connected by the electric railway with<br />

Northampton, Holyoke, Sunderland and Pelham.<br />
