2. I am currently using GSI Suite V1.0 with my GSI 61. What do I need to order to updgrade to the
new GSI Suite V1.1?
a. Contact your local GSI Distributor and order part number 1010-9600 GSI Suite V1.1.
3. I am currently using GSI Suite V1.0 with a single GSI 61. What do I need to order to add a GSI
TympStar to the same PC in my office/clinic?
a. Contact your local GSI Distributor and order part number 1010-9686 to order GSI Suite
V1.1 along with the Serial to USB adapter and USB extension cables.
b. Be sure that your PC has a USB port available to accommodate the GSI TympStar USB
cable.
c. Note: the maximum length USB extension cable that is recommended by the PC industry
is 4.8 m (16 feet). Only one extension cable should be used to ensure proper data
transfer.
d. All prior patient records will be viewable in this new GSI Suite V1.1.
e. See the diagram below for a sample single PC arrangement.
4. I currently have a GSI 61 with GSI Suite V1.0 running in a standalone arrangement but I now
wish to add a GSI TympStar so that the audiometry and tympanometry results can be combined
into a single report. However, the GSI TympStar isn’t located near the PC which is attached to
the GSI 61. What do I need to do?
a. This is an example of a “networking” situation. In this case, you will need to utilize
OtoAccess as part of the solution, do the following:
i. Contact your local GSI Distributor and order part number 1010-9687 to order
the GSI Suite V1.1 kit which includes the upgrade CD for GSI Suite V1.1, the
Serial to USB adapter and USB extension cables needed for the GSI TympStar
and OtoAccess. OtoAccess provides the necessary software to set up this
networking situation.
ii. At least 2 PCs will be needed: A PC for the GSI 61 and a different PC for the GSI
TympStar. One of these PCs can act as the Network Server (i.e., OtoAccess
database server) or a 3 rd PC can be used for the Network Server. Make sure each
PC meets the requirements called out in the GSI Suite and OtoAccess manuals.
iii. Installation Notes:
1. Back up the GSI Suite V1.0 patient records, follow the steps called out in
the GSI Suite User Manual.
2. Uninstall the GSI Suite V1.0.
3. Install OtoAccess (see the OtoAccess User Manual for instructions)
4. Install GSI Suite V1.1.
5. Going forward only the patient records added from this new install date
will be accessible via when launching GSI Suite via OtoAccess. To review
the GSI Suite V1.0 records, open GSI Suite from the Windows Start
menu (i.e., not from within OtoAccess).
b. See the diagram below for a sample networking arrangement.
5. I currently have GSI Suite V1.0 and OtoAccess running in the clinic with multiple GSI 61s. I now
wish to add my GSI TympStars to OtoAccess/GSI Suite V1.1. What is needed to accomplish this
upgrade?
a. Contact your local GSI Distributor and order part number 1010-9686 to order the GSI
Suite V1.1 along with a single set of cables for the TympStar. If multiple GSI TympStars
will be added to this network situation, additional kits will be needed per TympStar.
b. Be sure to back up the patient records from the OtoAccess/GSI Suite V1.0 database
before upgrading from GSI Suite V1.0 to GSI Suite V1.1 on the PC which acts as the
Server for OtoAccess. See the OtoAccess User Manual for these steps
c. Uninstall GSI Suite V1.0 from each PC.
d. Install GSI Suite V1.1 on each PC.
e. You will be able to view all of the prior data collected when running GSI Suite V1.0, from
within GSI Suite V1.1.
6. In a network set up, what happens if two users at different PCs try to edit the same patient
record at the same time?
a. The last edits saved will be stored.
7. Is it possible to connect either 2 each GSI 61s or 2 each GSI TympStars to a single PC which has
GSI Suite V1.1 installed?
a. Both GSI Suite V1.0 and V1.1 can only recognize one instrument type per PC (i.e.
maximum of one GSI 61 and one GSI TympStar per). If two GSI 61s are attached to the
same PC, it will only find, communicate, and accept data from the first GSI 61 that it
finds. This is also true for the GSI TympStar.
