Outside, the streets were abuzz with the jubilant sounds of <strong>Purim</strong>. Music was blaring;<br />
children were parading the streets in their costumes and dancing to the rhythm.<br />
Inside, lay Binyomin in his room, propped up on two pillows. He looked frail and thin, like a<br />
little star in the midnight sky.<br />
He remembered last year when he too was part of the excitement. But now he lay in bed,<br />
feeling ill and receiving the necessary painful treatments his life depended on.<br />
Binyomin wished he could wear a mask! He was so broken; so sad. What upset him most was that<br />
the treatments caused him to lose his hair and peyos. How could he go out without peyos? He was<br />
a Yiddishe Bochur. The thought alone frightened him.<br />
His parents had enough money for things that the family needed. He got a new suit before each Yom<br />
Tov and there was always enough food to eat. He even got an occasional treat on Rosh Chodesh.<br />
But fake peyos made of custom hair would cost over a thousand dollars! Surely his parents couldn’t<br />
a˜word that, so he didn’t even venture to ask. He hoped that a mask would conceal him so he wouldn’t<br />
have to face his family and friends with the shame of not having peyos.<br />
And so <strong>Purim</strong> day wore on.<br />
Some of his relatives came to visit with Mishloach Manos.<br />
He was too nauseous to eat. Some of his friends came dancing and singing. He was too weak to join.<br />
All the while he donned his mask, secure in the knowledge that he was hiding his shame. When the<br />
day was over Binyomin couldn’t help but feel despondent. Although his prognosis was good, it would<br />
take awhile for his hair to grow back. He couldn’t bear the thought of going through another zman<br />
without peyos-his badge of honor!<br />
That night, when the house was ÿnally quiet and the last of the nosh was sorted and packed away, he<br />
heard the phone ring incessantly. The conversation went on for a few long moments until Binyomin<br />
heard his mother hang up the phone and break down in tears.<br />
It was Mrs. Ziegler from Zichron Shlome Refuah Fund. She told his<br />
mother where she could get him a pair of human hair peyos-paid in full!<br />
These were not tears of despair; they were tears of joy! And his smile<br />
was brighter than any star in the sky.<br />

We will try our best to get you the prize you<br />
wish, however, the ones who reserved in<br />
advance get theirs first.<br />

Does the money have to be collected ON<br />

Not necessarily! Start early and you can beat<br />
