Deep Within the Forest
“Wake up, wake up, Star.
The sun is shining and the birds singing.
Come, come now.
Walk with your horn high.”
“We unicorns are proud,
So let’s go, time’s a wastin’”.
“But Sky, I don’t want to,
I don’t want to save the Majesty’s son.”
Sky was aghast at what her friend had just said.
Her Majesty’s son was captured by the werewolves,
And a reward was being offered:
Marriage to whoever brought back her son.
Sky was a persuasive talker,
So soon Star was following her like an obedient dog.
Through the forest they trotted,
Until the werewolf was spotted.
“Oh my!” said Star.
“Good Golly!” said Sky.
Before their eyes was the werewolf.
Its bulging eyes staring back at them.
What did we get ourselves into? murmured Sky,
Who was having second thoughts.
But then she looked into the eyes of the captive.
They were so hopeful, how could she not help him?
She told Star to stand back.
With a swish of her mane,
And a ferocious buck,
She summoned all the power inside of her.
A sudden scream pierced through the dense forest
growth.
Before Sky’s eyes was the werewolf,
Its breaths becoming shallower by the minute.
Up arose the son, who galloped to Sky’s side.
Then they leisurely walked back toward the palace.
Her Majesty greeted them with a grateful whinny.
A big feast soon followed for Star and Sky.
And the next day, Sky and the son were married.
