The ZiggerZagger
Beware the ZiggerZagger
He’ll eat you in one piece
He’ll claw out both your eyes
It happened to my niece
He doesn’t make friends
So all of you watch out
For he has only me
I am his only, no doubt
We laugh, we giggle, and we joke,
We have fun every day
The only time we have to stop
Is when someone else has come our way
Mihikaa Naik
He has bad breath and an ugly face
And all the children let him know
So they make mean jokes
And on their way they go
Now he hates them all
And he has only me
I like him for who he is
And for who he’ll always be
No one seems to look beyond
What their eyes will see
And they will never realize
How nice the ZiggerZagger can be.
The Pink Elephant
At the foot of my bed it gawks at me, and I
gawk back. Given to me by my beloved auntie
when I was only two, I cherish C.J., my pink
elephant. Its smooth, fluffy pink exterior is soft
and elegant, despite its blue eyes conjoined at
the middle, and its green feet with yellow toe-
nails. I confide in C.J., and he listens with open
ears. We indulge in conversations of all types,
even though he himself is quite inaudible.
I still love and admire him, because he is the
memory of my auntie. And even though she is
no longer living, I will keep C.J. and pass him
down from generation to generation so my kids,
and their kids will be obliged to share the same
compassion, love, and respect for him, as I , too,
always will.
