U10 BOYS - EG TALONS
2010 AYSC CAN-AM CHAMPIONS
CONGRATULATIONS to the Under 10 Boys Rep
East Gwillimbury Talons who earned the title
CAN-AM CHAMPIONS on July 11, 2010 at the
Aurora Youth Soccer Club Weekend Tournament.
Friday night brought their only loss of the tournament,
gracing the host team, the Aurora Stingers T1 with a
2-0 win over our Talons. Saturday’s games really got
the ball rolling securing two wins: a 7-1 victory over
the Lake Simcoe Fury and a 4-1 win over the Wexford
Stingers. The boys completed their preliminary round
placing second in their division and advanced to the
semi-finals Sunday morning.
The first placed Division 2 team, the Richmond Hill
Raiders were hungry to advance, but the Talons had
different plans and eliminated them with a 4-3 victory
– a satisfying win as it was the Raiders that eliminated
our Talons in semi-finals during a tournament earlier
this season. The parallel semi-final game went into
overtime between Oshawa & Aurora. Oshawa came out
on top which meant an upset in both semi-final games
with the first placed teams eliminated from
competition while the second placed teams advanced
to the Tournament Finals.
Talons Head Coach, Jeff Grasby led the boys through a
very intense game against the Oshawa Turals in the
Tournament Finals. Our Talons scored early and never
let go of their lead. The last three minutes of the game
seemed as though they would never end for the fans on
the sidelines, but the Talons successfully defended their
net (our goalie, Michael Aloise ROCKS!) and when the
referee blew his whistle – the final score was 3-2 for
our EG Talons!!
A special thank you goes out to all our AMAZING
parents, grandparents, siblings & friends that came out
to support our U10 Talons at the Can-Am Tournament
and throughout our 2010 season! They earned their
own photo with the Can-Am Cup!!
