Community Announcements AMESBURY - Pete McDade is a local poet who has been characterized as “the best reader in Eastern Massachusetts” will be the feature at Amesbury Public Library on March 28th. His tenor voice and focus on Community Connections the words he is speaking transfix his audiences. Pete McDade’s first collection of poetry is entitled, Columbia Thunderbolt. “Pete is an amazing man who writes powerful & thoughtful poetry. His book is wonderful!” - Kathy Kelleher. He is a member of the Ipswich Poetry Group. The library hosts a monthly poetry series with an open mic, 6 – 7:30PM Each month Business there is a featured poet followed Spotlight by a discussion, an open mic and light refreshments. Temporary Food Events are enjoyable community events for all. The Ipswich Public Health Department wants to help organizations planning these events understand Massachusetts food regulations, the permit application process and safe food handling. This training is designed for event coordinators, event volunteers and food establishment operators that may participate in temporary food events. Temporary food events present special challenges since they may operate either indoors or outdoors and often have limited physical and sanitary facilities available. Join use and learn about your role in having a safe and successful temporary food event. The registration fee is $15.00 for spayed/neutered dogs and $20.00 for intact dogs. After March 31st non registered dogs are subject to a late fee of $10.00 for each month or part thereof said license is issued after March 31st (Ipswich Town By-laws Ch. XV, Sec 5). This coming season (2017) there is a 13 yr old division and 14/15A and 14/15B divisions in the Intertown Baseball League. Registration for 13 year old players will end on March 1 and 14/15 year old players on April 1. Player age is determined by age as of July 31, 2017. Players must live in or attend school in Newburyport. The 13 yr old division will begin late April and finish around July 4. The two 14/15 division will begin after the Freshman team is done around Memorial Day and finish in Late July. Her unbound visions from childhood have since grown into mature works of abstract art. Patty’s unique compositions and color combinations aim to make the viewers look closer and look again, as she hopes they might discover a little more each time. She often creates her artworks in pairs and families using a combination of paint, pastel, and ink with unconventional mediums such as carbon paper, blue print paper, vellum, drafting film, ammonia, and her typewriter. Her work will be on display through March at the Rowley Public Library, 141 Main Street in Rowley.
