AERIAL ACROBATS:
WOODCOCKS AND MORE!
The American woodcock, with its
remarkable physical adaptations and
its spectacular courtship behavior,
is always a treat to observe. With
the first hints of spring, these small
birds appear on their breeding fields.
The resulting courtship display is not
to be missed! After a series of nasal
peent calls, the male springs into
to the ground like a falling leaf, often
landing at almost the exact point of
takeoff. During this program, we
expect to observe this impressive
display and discuss the many unique
adaptations of this unlikely shorebird.
We will also search for other earlyspring
migrants that are active in the
evening. Thu, Mar 16, 2017 6:30
pm - 9:00 pm. Meet at Joppa Flats
Education Center, One Plum Island
Homelessness is not only an issue
for younger adults and families but
this problem is well known to older
citizens, as recently evidenced in local
news. All welcome, time for coffee
old organization dedicated to helping
seniors find their voice and work to
improve lifestyle and well-being for
