The Red House Records Staff
OUR FOUNDER BOB SAID IT BEST:
”Red House artists are players, singers and songwriters that make a difference
in people’s lives–important musicians with a living dream and vision from
which we all can learn. Our philosophy as a label is to provide a home
and environment in which creative artists can make albums in total freedom–
without interference from mogul types just looking for the next hit single.
In support of these same artists, we are also working to build their audience,
one community at a time all over the globe. Simply put, we make records
we love, knowing that there are people out there who will feel the same
way when they hear our music or see the artists in concert. So whether
you’re an old friend or just meeting us for the first time, keep in touch. We
love hearing from you and are always glad to pass your comments on to
the artists. Thanks again for your support!”
“the troubadour laureate of modern city folk”
- BOSTON GLOBE
Lucy Kaplansky returns with the exciting album her
fans have been waiting for. Roots-infused, alt-country
tinged–each song tells its own unique story and
connects us to our common humanity through scenes
of family, origins, loss and discovery. “This album
is largely about reunions with family and deepening
social connections with friends and audiences through
my music,” Lucy says. “I find myself clearer about
my priorities, my purpose, my politics and my faith.”
Interwoven with Lucy’s poignant originals are unique
covers of Woody Guthrie/Slaid Cleaves, Eliza Gilkyson
and The Beatles, and together they create a tapestry
that is at turns deeply moving, joyful, meditative and
This terrific new album avaiLaBLE in Both Cd and vinyL LP makes manifest that
this great indie folk band has a sound all their own and songcraft that stands apart on
the indie music landscape. Frontmen Benson ramsey & david huckfelt and company
meaning and resonance. From the haunting opening track “Cry, Cry, Crow” onward they
conjure up rural specters and ghosts from vanishing Midwestern farms,
exploring the tension between city and small town and the
loneliness that can exist in both. Sometimes rocking out,
sometimes drifting dreamily through poetic ballads and
THE SUN SESSIONS • RHR 248 CD
“the savior of country music”
“I am Dale’s biggest fan.” - WILLIE NELSON
DALE WATSON is a Texas legend, a frequent performer
on the Grand Ole Opry and a member of the Austin Music
an era–he revives it to the point that it seems it never faded.
Blending the sound of early Cash, Elvis and Carl Perkins
with his signature Texas juke joint cool, Dale channels the
heart and soul of the Hillbilly/Rockabilly/Rock ’n’ Roll
universe. Recorded at fabled Sun Studios in Memphis,
A NOD TO BOB
OUR ACCLAIMED ARTISTS’ BIRTHDAY
TRIBUTES TO BOB DYLAN!
“More than a birthday toast...forever young
and eternally relevant.” ★★★★ - USA TODAY
No songwriter of the 20th century has cast a longer
shadow than BOB DYLAN and it would be safe to say
many (if not all) Red House artists have been influenced
by him in some way. So in honor of Bob’s recent 70th
birthday, we created a sequel to 2001’s A Nod to Bob,
the best selling title in our history. On both projects we
asked our artists to record a Dylan song–one about which
they were passionate–and the results were superb. The
artists represent every era of Dylan admirer: colleagues
and cronies, artists that Bob himself has admired, and
his scions from the succeeding generations. Essential
for any lover of truly great songwriting and performances!
