Katherine Victoria Gott
Kate’s years at South County Pre-K Co-Op helped her learn the most important things in life: how to share,
how to be flexible and how to be a friend. She believes that learning through play is the best way to start
a child’s journey of learning. Miss Barb and Miss Ann taught her so many things all while having fun. She
and her friends were free to be little kids and do all the things little children should do -- paint, build with
blocks, sing songs, play games, run outdoors, and much more! Kate feels that all of this helped shape the
person that she is today.
Kate has many memories from SCPC, when she was little she wanted to be an Astronaut. For Christmas
one year she asked for a telescope and a globe. She also remembers playing in the housekeeping area
with her best friend, Lyndsay Brooks. And her fondest memory at SCPC was being Star Of The Day!
The SCPC helped Kate in getting straight A’s in school, earning a spot in the Maryland Junior and Senior
All State Chorus, landing a lead role in her high school’s musical this year, performing at Carnegie Hall with
All Children’s Chorus of Annapolis and earning the Girl Scout’s Bronze and Silver awards.
Her best friend Lyndsay and Kate chose to makeover the playhouse
at SCPC for their Sliver Award in highschool. They loved playing in the
housekeeping area when at SCPC, it was their favorite activity at school.
They added wallpaper, curtains, and flowers, put shingles on the roof,
painted a washing machine on one of the cabinets, purchased dishes and
added new dress-up clothes as well as organized the toys in the house.
Kate remembers, “It was a lot of fun and a way to give back to our favorite
teachers and the school we love!”
In her free time Kate enjoys spending time with her close friends, playing the
ukulele, singing, performing in school dramas and musicals, and anything
to do with fashion.
Kate hopes future generations at
SCPC will always remember the
time they spent there with fondness.
She hopes those students and their
parents never underestimate the
power of learning through play.
