A Letter FROM THE TEACHERS Welcome!! Tonight’s fundraiser promises to be a very exciting evening for everyone. It’s always fun to have an opportunity for parents to get together and a chance to visit with friends and alumni. We really appreciate all the hard work you parents do each year to make the school so successful. It is such a pleasure to work in an environment where everyone is committed to making their child’s school such a positive experience. Ann and I are forever impressed with all the countless hours parents put into our school to keep it running smoothly. The idea for SCPC began in 1973 when a group of parents got together to discuss the need for a preschool in the community. The first class was held the following school year and we moved into our present building in 1976. Since that time SCPC has been a mainstay in the community. Our mantra “Learning through Play” is as true today as it was over 40 years ago. While society has changed a lot over the last 40 years, a child’s need to explore their environment and nurture relationships has not. Yet SCPC has always been so much more than just a preschool. By creating a co-operative preschool all those years ago, parents have the opportunity to share in their children’s learning experiences and create friendships of their own. Being a parent of a preschooler is a demanding job. It is amazing what the effect of even a ten minute “adult” conversation during drop-off can have on the rest of your day - or better yet, the chance to work in the classroom and watch your child make new friends. Another amazing thing about SCPC is how many parents leave the school and continue to be very active in the community. Whether it is P.T.A., Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, D.A.A, or any community group, there is usually a SCPC alumni involved. We would also like to give a big thank you to Mandy Watts and all the members of the Events and Fundraising Committee. They have been working since the summer to put together a wonderful night for all of us. We’re anxious to see what they did with all the cassette tapes they’ve been collecting and how they remember the ‘80s! As always, we have enjoyed teaching your children and watching them grow this year. We look forward to their big hugs and smiles each day! Working with young children guarantees that no two days will ever be the same. We hope you all have as much fun at school as we do! We look forward to tonight’s festivities and hope that everyone has a “whale of a time” and as Mr. Campbell always says, “Bid high and bid often!”. Love, Miss Barbara and Miss Ann 4
A NOTE FROM the president Welcome to our 80s’ Night Dinner and Auction! We are thrilled you could join us tonight to celebrate our wonderful school. The South County Pre- Kindergarten Cooperative really is more than just a preschool; it is our community. Our children come to school to play, to learn and to explore all that being a child has to offer. As parents actively participating in class, we have gotten to experience the joys of preschool all over again, this time through our children. The school has also provided the opportunity for both our children and us to make friends and develop a support network. Ms. Barbara and Ms. Ann are two very special people in our lives and the lives of our children! Thank you for instilling in our children a true love of learning. And thank you for the patience it takes to teach our children day in and day out. Thank you to everyone who made tonight possible – without your tireless work and countless hours we could never have such a wonderful evening. Mandy Watts was so dedicated to making this night a success that only the flu managed to slow her down even a little. Beatriz Brown has also been instrumental in organizing the auction, along with Amanda Schneider and the rest of the fundraising committee. Despite being a smaller committee this year, they were able to accomplish so much and create this wonderful night. We all owe you thanks for your tremendous efforts. To our sponsors, program advertisers, item donors, members, volunteers and attendees, we thank you – without you, our Auction would not be a success. We are absolutely grateful for your generosity! Please enjoy all that tonight has to offer, bid on lots of silent auction items, have fun at the prize wheel and ready your paddles for an exciting live auction. Mr. Campbell will not disappoint, so bid high and bid often. All proceeds benefit our wonderful school and beautiful children that we cherish so much!
