year. A lot of my free time is spent
helping Sammy with all her activities
and spending time with family and
friends. We have two dogs (a Golden
Retriever and a Poodle), one cat, and
one firebelly toad. It’s always busy at
my house, and it seems that the days fly
by. I love to walk and hike (I walk
everyday). I also enjoy reading and
being outdoors, as we have many nice
days here. I would love to hear from
friends at Wayland. I know that many
members of my class have been
involved with Wayland through the
years, and I wanted to update you on
my whereabouts and activities.”
Sue Braden `74 is living in Vieques,
Puerto Rico, a beautiful island in the
Caribbean. She has established a nonprofit,
Vieques Chef’s Association
(VCA), dedicated to benefitting the
island youth who are plagued with teen
pregnancy and drug addiction. The
VCA raises funds through membership,
grant writing, and corporate
sponsorship to support existing sports
and arts programs and to create new
ones. Sue writes, “My personal goals for
this fledgling association are to see Pasa
Fino polo played on the fields in front
of Sun Bay and A Midsummer Night’s
Dream performed on the plaza with 30
local children in the local French
influenced Spanish dialect. This is just
in my spare time. I would love to revisit
Wayland, especially the likes of Bev
Dohmann. I have yet to complete my
first lap: God bless you, Sol. Please do
not hesitate to contact me.”
Mr. John Grummel `76 writes, “I am a
self-employed comic book trader. I spend
winters in Boca Raton, Florida. I have
three daughters — Angel (29), Christina
(26), and Melissa (22). I also have two
grandchildren, Brooklyn (19 months)
and Ryder (one week old today).”
Nancy Parent `76 writes, “I’m
writing to tell you of news, sad and
happy. The sad news first — my
husband, Pete, died last November of
cancer at 51. Rhiannon, our daughter,
and I miss him and mourn his loss.
I’ve decided to stay in Gunnison,
Colorado, where I teach music at the
local elementary school, and Rhiannon
will be in 5th grade in the fall. She
dreams of going to Wayland, and we
shall see! The happy news is that
Gunnison is a wonderful, loving
community and we’ve been enveloped
in a tapestry of love here. To add to
this tapestry, my mother, Polly Parent,
93, is moving to Gunnison to live with
us this summer. There are lots of
changes in our lives, and we’re all
taking it step-by-step. I wish all the
Wayland community my best,
especially those who have experienced
loss recently. If you would like to
contact me, please do so at
npmusic@mindspring.com.”
Dr. Mark T. Duffy `79 is still
dedicated to his philanthropy at
Aravind Eye Hospital in India. He
writes, “I have made frequent charity
trips to work there and send my
monetary donations as well.” You can
learn more about this organization at
www.friendsofAravind.org, specifically
their “ring of hope.”
1980s
Samer Nashashibi `80 writes, “I
currently live in Bahrain, and I’m
married to Naima Kuodous from
Morocco. We have one son, Wahib
(15), and two daughters Amira (13)
and Salina (11).”
Scott M. Posnanski `86 would love to
hear from any and everyone! He
exhorts, “Have a great 2009!”
South Korea on business for two years.
Dr. Dominik Scheruhn `94 writes,
“Hey folks, I moved to Switzerland a
couple of weeks ago, to Lucerne, which
is an awesome place. So, if anyone
should be around, let me know. I will
stay here until December; then I will
be moving to Munich for the last year
of my residency.”
Kate Bartizal Kimmons `90 was
married February 14 at the Union
League Club in Chicago to James A.
Kimmons. They are residing in Claredon
Hills, Illinois.
Ms. Brooke Conley `98 writes, “I am
currently living and working in Park
Slope in Brooklyn. I would love to see
Wayland friends when you are in town.”
Heather L. Niles `99 writes, “After a
long struggle with FOP (ifopa.org) and
my health, I am slowly working on
finishing my social work degree with a
minor in art therapy. I currently live at
a small community-based residence
facility in Madison and have no plans
on moving anytime soon.”
Alicia C. Kelly `99 writes, “I
completed my master’s degree in
health law from Loyola University
Chicago School of Law on May 16,
2009. I miss everyone and say hello to
all my Wayland friends.”
