The Outdoor Photography Experience
The Outdoor Photography Experience in La Herradura, Costa Tropical of Granada in Andalusia.
We offer an unusual combination of vacation, outdoor sport and a professional photography course led by
the Dutch photographer Martin Hogeboom.
During this unique week you will learn various skills and enjoy many experiences. We will take you to high
mountains, beautiful bays, natural reserves and caves. And just around the corner you will find typical white
Spanish villages with everyday life where you can discover a perfect pictures setting on every street corner.
During these adventurous days, you will learn, among many other things, how to add that ‘Wow’-factor to
your images.
You also gain insights into many aspects of your photography, including an efficient work-flow and other
aspects of the profession without forgetting the post-production side such as the image editing of your
daily activities, landscape, portrait or cave photographs. In short, we offer a unique opportunity for both
photographers and outdoor enthusiasts to combine the best of these worlds.

About Martin Hogeboom:
Martin works as a commercial photographer in the
Netherlands, shooting for advertising agencies,
publishers plus small and large companies.
He has been a full-time professional photographer
since 2001 and specializes in portraits, reports and
outdoor photography.
Martin shoots all over the world and his
assignments range from small quick location
portraits to big international photo shoots.
In his pictures he likes to play with light, sharpness,
colours and position.
He regularly teaches workshops and he has
released two photo books ‘Everyday People’ and
‘Whisky Rocks’. Besides this, he is an official
ambassador of Fuji X-cameras.
Martin’s enthusiasm for the subject and his
experience in the field of outdoor photography
make him the ideal person to lead the Outdoor
Photography Experience Week.

Who’s behind the Outdoor Photography Experience?
The Experience is a collaboration between Activ8You
and Costamundo, two companies of Dutch and Swedish
adventure seekers that have migrated to Spain and are
joining forces using this concept.
Activ8You has been organizing In & Outdoor sports,
Active and Cultural Tourism, Summer Camps, tailor-made
all-inclusive vacations and seminar weeks on the Costa
Tropical for almost 10 years.
Costamundo is a production company of a filmmaker
that has worked with a camera in more than 60 countries
worldwide and is now based in Spain, filming, shooting
photos and organising related projects.
The photographer Martin Hogeboom is in charge of
presenting the photography course and guides the
participants throughout the week.
MAIN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
MOUNTAIN BIKE: We will take you to the natural park of ‘Sierra de Tejada &
Cliffs of Cerro Gordo - Maro’, some magnificent places to photograph a sport in an
unspoiled natural environment. It is one of the most beautiful coastlines of southern
Spain, with spectacular views, in which image and sport merge into one.
COASTEERING: Photo shoots under challenging and wet conditions can be
quite tricky. The coasteering brings together all these difficult elements, combining
the action and emotions of all the people who are involved. A fantastic occasion to
capture it in unique images.

The COURSE
Actually anyone who loves photography
and outdoor activities can attend. The only
criteria are that you have a basic knowledge
of photography, good photographic equipment
and a laptop for photo editing. It is also useful if
you have a reasonable level of fitness.
You level of enthusiasm is more important then
your skills.
The week is designed to be flexible so that
everyone has the opportunity to express
themselves in photography in their own way.
The Outdoor Photo Shooting
The programme will include lots of activities,
such as visiting impressive Caves, Kayaking,
Stand-up paddle, Mountain biking, Horseback
riding, Trekking, Coasteering, a Rugby match
shooting on the field like the real pro’s, Street
shots in typical Andalusia white villages, as
well as the People, Portraits and Landscapes,
Cultural visits and Flamenco.
Everyone chooses their 5 best photos from
the set of trophies made during the day. We
review them all-together with Martin, who will
show what improvements could be made during
the photo shooting itself, and how the image
editing should be done to get the most out of
the picture.
KAYAK & PADDLE SURF: You will marvel at our cliffs, caves,
beaches, coves, rocky areas and corners of extraordinary beauty & why not
try some snorkeling or cliff jumping in crystal clear waters.
TREKKING: Partake in the benefit of exercise and photo shooting in the
astonishing environment of mountains, cliffs and sea-view in the natural park
“Sierra de Tejada”, a real charm to discover.
CAVE PICTURES: In the evening, after closing time, the Caves of Nerja
will reopen its doors just for us, entering the mystery of the underworld to
enjoy the magnificence and beauty of the cave, and discover its secrets. It’s
a unique opportunity to photograph in an amazing environment with very little
light.

“The Outdoor Photo” Week
You stay in a comfortable hotel where you will enjoy your
breakfasts, short theoretical briefings and workshops. From
this base camp we will take you to beaches, caves, kayaking,
hiking, horseback riding, coasteering and mountain-biking.
All activities are customized for the photography course. It’s
up to you if you would like to participate in the activities
or not. You can simply choose to focus only on shooting
pictures of other participants in action.
After each adventurous day there is time to select and
retouch the best images and share them with the others.
Each evening we will enjoy dinner in a different restaurant
where we exchange experiences of the day and see the
beautiful results!
Obviously the planned schedule for each day may change
depending on weather conditions.
