The invention relates to a method for producing a bearing ring (2) for a rolling bearing (5), said bearing ring (2) comprising a raceway<br />

(4a) for a rolling member (S) as well as at least one lateral rim (6) for axially guiding the rolling member (5). In one step <strong>of</strong> said<br />

method, a notch (7) is introduced into a running surface (4a, 6a) <strong>of</strong> the bearing ring which faces the rolling member (S). According to<br />

the invention, the final contour <strong>of</strong> the bearing ring (2) is created by means <strong>of</strong> a hard turning process.<br />
