Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel messe are the most expensive footba l player in
the world… WRONG! Footba l Leaks claim to have found out that Gareth Bale,
who is supposed to transfer from To tenham to Real Madrid for a 100 mi lion Euro,
is now supposedly the most expensive player in the world. Three times World
Footba ler of the Year Ronaldo wi l probably be quite hurt, as he is known to be
quite vain… uhm, I mean honourable, because it should be obvious, that he who
is the most expensive, is also the best… or is it?
The most expensive Cocktail
When a former jeweller turns to barkeeping, the term “cocktail mixing” can be taken literally: Pete
Gugni offers a drink called “Ruby Red” at his Chicago Club called “Reserve”. It contains pomegranate
liqueur, orange juice, vodka and a dash of Dom Perignon Champagne. The price tag is quite high at $950,
due to the small ruby that floats at the bottom of the glass, which makes the Ruby Red the most expensive
drink of all times, according to Gungi… which is not a 100% true. In New York a Martini with a diamond in
it is served, it supposedly costs $10,000 – cheers!
Zeiten macht… was nicht ganz stimmt.
10.000 Dollar kosten… Prost!
haben tolle Arbeit geleistet. In vielen Punkten
Entscheidung?
A Hard Decision?
Summer is here! The first half of the year has gone by
and we can already look back on an eventful first half
of 2016. The first round of spring events is over and we
can say that the organisers of the evens have done a
great job. In many ways one can determine time and
again how important and necessary the B2B events are
for business and collective success. The possibility of
meeting and maintaining contacts, to get to know one
another in person and to get a good impression of potential
partners, all these are decisive factors, which
often have an impact on the future.
Our WEBMASTERMEETUP.COM event illustrates this
quite clearly and is a great success! Webmasters were
able to mingle in a cosy and “undisturbed” atmosphere
at this “webmasters only” event, and were able to
spend a fantastic day together, which was all about
Adult Webmaster Networking. Therefore I am very
happy to announce the date for the next
event in this issue.
The next WEBMASTERMEETUP 2016
starts on Friday, September 9th in Berlin,
directly in front of XBIZBerlin.com!
A perfect opportunity to combine two important
events with a stay in the great capital
metropolis of Berlin!
The SGM crew already rocked the first two sunny summer events of the year, EWT Mallorca and
XBIZ Miami! The Miami XBiz had joined forces with Camcon for the first time, and as a result, there
were many new faces among the visitors, and I am sure the event was a big success for live cam
companies. Apart from the mankini and bikini contests, the visitors also crowned a Miss Wet T-Shirt.
The big topics that are still dominating the market are: mobile, dating, traffic brokering, and live cams.
On the whole, it was a great event, and the visitors had tons of fun, also at the Whiteparty and the
Neonparty. On Mallorca, we met old friends and business partners. As always, the catamaran cruise
party was a blast, and the new location also proved an excellent choice.
Our focus at the two events was on the promotion of SGMPro. Next, we will travel to Mexico and Tel
Aviv, among other places, always looking for more great partners.
Greetings from the SGM Crew
zwei sonnigen Events gerockt!
A New Take On CSS:
Animate With CSS
Keyframes
The @keyframe allows you to define
animations in CSS without JavaScript. This
way, the CSS style changes along an individually
defined timeline, from one style to
the next, gradated any way you like. The
keyframe rule is generally compatible with
all new, relevant browsers.
Anatomy of a keyframe
A keyframe has a certain structure and consists of various
components that are necessary for the implementation
of the keyframe.
First, we use the command @keyframe to get to the
keyframe rule set, then we define the rules. This definition
will be important later on when we get to the
animations, etc.
Next up: the selector. Put it in front of the CSS style definition
and pick the keyframe phase during which it should be executed.
There are several ways to fine-tune it, and in our example,
we are going to use percentages, from 0% to 100%.
Once you are done with the selector, the styles can be
defined at any given point in the implementation cycle.
Tutorial
CSS neu gedacht:
Animieren mit CSS Keyframes
Mit der @keyframe-Regel lassen sich
in CSS und ganz ohne Javascript Animationen
definieren. Hierbei verändert sich
der CSS-Stil in einer individuell definierten
Timeline von einem Stil in beliebiger Abstufung
zu einem anderen. Die Key -
frame-Regel ist grundsätzlich mit allen
neueren, relevanten Browsern kompatibel.
Anatomie eines Keyframes
Ein Keyframe besitzt einen bestimmten Aufbau,
bestehend aus verschiedenen Komponenten, welche für
die Ausführung des Keyframes benötigt werden.

@keyframes Animationsbezeichnung {
keyframes-selector {css-styles;}
}
In this example, we have three gradation levels to
choose from when defining the keyframe. They concern
the color and range from white to black. You could also
have five or just two shades, and they can be defined individually,
any way you like.
@keyframes Meineanimation {
0% {color:white}
50% {color:grey}
100% {color:black}
}
Assigning the keyframe to an element
Once the keyframe is defined, it can be assigned to an
HTML element. That process will look something like
this:
div {
animation-name: example;
animation-duration: 5s;
animation-timing-function: linear;
animation-delay: 2s;
animation-iteration-count: infinite;
animation-direction: alternate;
}
Die Werte haben hierbei folgende Bedeutungen:
animation-name:
ab.
The definition of the individual elements is as follows:
animation-name:
This is where we access the keyframe by entering the
keyframe designation.
10 AWM pro
02|2016
Tutorial
animation-duration:
benötigt, legt also die Animations-Geschwindigkeit
fest.
animation-duration:
This is used to determine the duration of one
animation cycle, i.e. this is where you set the
animation speed.
animation-timing-function:
Definiert den Verlauf einer Animation während eines
Ausführungs-Zyklus.
animation-timing-function:
This element defines the course of the animation
throughout the execution cycle.
animation-delay:
animation-delay:
Here, we determine when we want the animation to
start. This is important for the definition of a delayed
animation start.
animation-iteration-count:
animation-direction:
Gibt an, in welche Richtung eine Animation abgespielt
werden soll. So kann eine Animation z.B. unter
Angabe des Wertes "reverse" auch rückwärts
abgespielt werden.
Kurzschreibweise
Unter Einhaltung der im Beispiel angegebenen Reihenfolge
kann dies auch in einer kürzeren Schreibweise
Ladezeiten der Seite auswirkt und diese somit
effizienter macht.
animation-iteration-count:
This is where we set the repetition rate of our animation.
If you set the value to 1, the animation is only
executed once and then remains in its end state.
If you set the value to 5, the animation will be
repeated five times. And if you set the count on
infinite, the animation will be displayed in a
continuous loop.
animation-direction:
This determines which way the animation is
presented, i.e, you could also play it backwards by
choosing the corresponding option.
Short form
As long as you heed all the steps listed above, you
can also use an abbreviated form. Defining the animation
that way, you get shorter, clearer code and it
also reduces the file size, which in turn reduces
loading times and makes for greater efficiency.
Mit CSS-Keyframes ist es möglich, auch aufwändigere
Animationen ohne den Einsatz von JavaScript
zu erstellen. Die Einsatzmöglichkeiten sind hierbei
vielfältig. Es lassen sich Elemente aus dem Layout
einer Seite hervorheben, Hover-Effekte erstellen und
sogar aufwändige Startanimationen sind möglich.
Schlussendlich sei noch gesagt, dass die Funktionalität
einer Seite nicht essentiell mit der Funktionalität
einer CSS-Animation verknüpft sein sollte.
So unterstützen z.B.
CSS keyframes allow you to create sophisticated
animation without having to use JavaScript. There
are many possible applications: You could use it
to have certain elements on the page stick out
from the rest of the layout, you could create hover
effects, and you could even welcome the user
with lavish start animations.
Lastly, I’d like to add that the functionality of a CSS
animation should not have a real impact on the
functionality of a site. Browsers such as Internet
Explorer 10 and 11 don’t support keyframes if
they are placed in media queries. If you want an
animation to be an integral part of a site, i.e. if the
way the page works hinges on this animation, I recommend
you stick to JavaScript for the time
being.
Dein Fetisch -
Deine Nische!
Your Fetish -
Your Niche!
Niche content – what is that exactly? Occasionally I get asked by clients
whether I would have some packages with cheap niche content. To me this is
like going to the butcher and ask “Do you have a bag of cheap meat?”
Nobody would go to the butcher and just ask for cheap “meat” (unless you
need food for your dog) – so why do this when you need to invest into your
business and expect to earn money?
eigentlich bedeutet.
Marktes“.
profitabel?
But okay, why somebody would invest thousands into
domains, hosting, programming and so on and then only has
like 500 € left for content is something we will discuss some
other time.
Let’s get to our topic at hand “Niche” and what that actually
means.
Looking at the definition of “Niche” it says “a special but
profitable share of the market”.
But what makes a niche special? Is “Anal” already special
or does it have to be something like “Black Midget BDSM”?
I think at this point we could say that everything apart from
regular boy/girl hardcore is a niche in porn. How special and
how profitable is something totally different though.
Let’s say that every niche has its audience, admittedly some
have more, some less.
For the individual webmaster this may not even be relevant
though, for him it only matters how traffic he can generate
for the niche he pushes.
If we stick to our example mentioned above: For most
webmasters “Black Midget BDSM” will not be relevant
due to the lack of traffic. But for the owner of
www.blackmidgetbdsm.com it could become a very
profitable niche in case he manages to find matching content
and sell it to his visitors that found his site through search
engines or similar. In short: A niche can be very special and
have overall only a limited audience, on the other hand there
are probably also only a very few webmasters pushing it and
at the end I might have much less competition and more potential
users than if I was pushing “Anal” just like a million
other webmasters.
But what makes my chosen niche profitable for me?
In general my site is profitable once I earn more than I spent.
So I can be happy if I find a content provider that sells me
a package with pictures and videos of short black people
in rubber and leather clothes for my
www.blackmidgetbdsm.com for 500 € and after a year I
made 1000 € back.
Now some hosting for 9,95 € a month and then 100 or 200
sites like this and that’s also a way to earn money.
Ich könnte mich also
man:
But: With this approach you will never experience the value
of true fans of a niche – when it comes to their loyalty but
also from a financial point of view.
My personal opinion is that you should only promote a niche
if:
1. you can comprehend/feel a niche (or ideally have the same
fetish) and…
2. you have the matching content for your users.
And to be able to judge 2., you have to understand 1.
From my own experience as a producer I know today that I
won’t touch a niche that I cannot understand or that even
disgusts me.
Because every true admirer of a certain niche will
immediately identify content that only pretends to cater his
fetish instead of truly serving it. Which will massively affect
signup and retention ratios.
For example: A true admirer of nylon stockings knows that
you never combine hold up stockings with a garter belt –
somebody who just takes some pics of a girls in stockings
doesn’t know that.
The result: In the latter case the true enthusiast will turn to
Was dann natürlich
Detail.
other providers and I will lose him forever as a user.
Because I disobeyed his fetish.
But once I honor his wishes I might have found a client for
the next 5 to 10 years. This makes the difference between a
single 24,95 € and potentially 1000 or 2000 € over the
course of his membership. Just due to this tiny little detail.
Hence my advice: If you promote a niche do it with all
seriousness and all consequences. In this
case even today it can be very much
worth it. Or don’t even start.
I wish you much success!
Deswegen
mein Rat: Wer sich Nischen
zuwendet, sollte das mit aller Ernsthaftigkeit
und allen Konsequenzen tun. Dann
sind die potenziellen Erträge auch heute
noch den Aufwand absolut wert.
Oder man lässt es gleich sein.
In diesem Sinne – viel Erfolg!
In diesem kurzen Artikel will ich einige Techniken vorstellen,
Der erste Schritt ist also, herauszufinden, was
dieses Irgendwas ist.
The quality of your traffic or leads is usually defined by
the ability to convert. This statement can be confusing for affiliates
who deem their traffic as quality but find it very
difficult to monetize it on a CPL or CPA basis, often resorting
to flat deals or selling through different networks. In this brief,
article I will explain some techniques that will allow you to
improve the quality of your traffic or leads and hopefully increase
your overall revenues.
Let’s start by looking back at the previous statement about
converting. The most important factor when considering the
value of traffic is it’s ability to convert. Traffic that has an inability
to convert on any product has little to no value from a
product perspective. However, the laws of economics and
advertising dictate that your traffic, unless it’s falsified, will
convert on something out there. So the first step is finding
out what.
A common mistake is thinking that your traffic must convert
as a whole on one product or through one network. As many
Optimiere Deine
Rates deswegen sinken? Werden meine Produkte neben ähnlichen oder konkurrierenden
Angeboten beworben?
2. Welcher Teil meines Traffics konvertiert wirklich? Und wie kann ich den Traffic, der
of the more successful among you are aware segmentation
is the key to profitability in traffic. Try and create
different segments of your traffic to find out what converts
where and then optimize to increase your overall CPM. The
basics of segmentation for the traffic buyers and sellers of
the internet are often platform and positioning. A single
adzone at the top or bottom of the page on a mobile device
can be much more appealing than a shared adzone at the
bottom of a desktop page, we like to think about usability and
the “flow” of the user’s experience. But segmentation goes
far beyond this. Using other tools beyond your typical affiliate
platforms can help you determine demographics, billing methods,
repeat users, similar interests and a slew of other information
that allows you to position your traffic to it’s
optimal offer. In fact, even within your basic affiliate tools a
bit of creativity can go a long way. Monitoring conversions by
time periods, or split testing landing pages, creatives or even
sources (email, mobile, desktop, chat, etc.) will allow you to
see the bigger picture and move traffic to where it’s needed.
Cause after all what we are really doing is bringing people to
products that appeal to them and demand their attention,
that’s the name of the game.
Beyond segmentation another factor to ensuring that your
traffic maintains it’s quality is saturation. Ask yourself
questions like: I’m running to many of the same type of offer?
Have my users or leads been shown the same product or similar
products repeatedly? Have my conversion ratios been
dipping as a result? Is my offer running in placements or verticals
next to other similar or competing products? To
maintain a healthy traffic source, DIVERSIFY, mix it up both
in what products you are promoting and where and when
you are promoting them. Going back to my earlier point segmentation
can go along way for this. Much like a farmer rotates
his crops on a field to keep that field fertile, think about
rotating your offers or even letting your sources rest for short
periods before sending them products again. Bonus points
for all those who saw that analogy coming.
At the end of the day keeping your traffic flow profitable and
kommen.
Was mich persönlich angeht: Ich liebe Berlin!
Many of you know that I started out in Hamburg, Germany,
, bringing it to international markets and then
have moved on to help developing an international Payment
Processing company, Webbilling.com and have then moved
to the United States. I think I know “both worlds” at least a
little bit
A few months ago in Barcelona, I had a “memory lane” conversation
with Andreas Bischoff, where his thoughts were
very much aligned with my own and we spoke about a “back
in the day” panel named: “Building bridges between the US
and Europe”.
I believe this was 13 years ago. A lot has changed and improved
over all these years, many bridges have been built
but are we done with this?
I don’t really think so! For sure, we started learning about
geo-targeting, selling and buying international traffic both
ways, implementing alternative payment methods and
everyone started attending international Adult Industry
Shows, made friends and started great business partnerships.
But do we really understand these different markets? Do
we really understand all these different cultures – in B2C
as much as in B2B? Again, I don’t think so!
XBiz Berlin will provide everyone with unlimited opportunities,
focusing on all kind of aspects of international
business. We will not only provide panels, but also very
interesting workshops for Webmasters from all
around the world. There are many more stones to be
set out and bridges to be build.
And trust me, fun will also be a big part of this show.
On a very personal note: I love Berlin! It is so full of hi-
For those who don’t know a lot about it’s history, let me give
you a short roundup:
Berlin, Germany’s capital and cultural center, dates to the
13th century.
It has been divided during the Cold War into different sectors
and I believe that this is very unique up to today. Even before
Worldwar II, Berlin was known as a world city duer its leadership
roles in science, the humanities, music, museums,
higher education, government, diplomacy and military affairs.
During this war it has been very much destroyed by bombing,
artillery and ferocious street fighting.
At the end of the war Greater Berlin was divided into four
sectors by the Allies under the London Protocol of 1944 into
the American, British, French and Soviet sectors.
In 1961, the communist East German government started to
build “ The Wall” which is probably known by everyone in
the world. It has caused more deaths and pain to humans
than anyone can only imagine.
Today it's known for its art scene, nightlife and modern architecture.
Reminders of the city's turbulent 20th-century history
include its Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall's
graffitied remains. Its 18th-century Brandenburg Gate has
become an iconic symbol of reunification.
You love music? Well, this is the place to go! With tons of live
music places of every genre, but especially house and rock,
you will not be disappointed!
Piwik –
Open Analytics Platform
Piwik is an open-source program for traffic analysis. It is very comprehensive and a
perfect alternative if you’re tired of Google Analytics.
The advantage over Google Analytics is that the analytic data stays on the server and cannot be
accessed by third parties.
The disadvantage compared to Google Analytics is that you host Piwik yourself, and it will be eating
into your resources. However, if you have a decent server, that should not be a big problem.
Piwik - Open Analytics Plattform
Was ist Piwik?
Installation: Step by step!
Schritt 1:
Herunterladen der aktuellen Version von Piwik unter
https://piwik.org/download/
Step 1:
Download the latest version of Piwik at
https://piwik.org/download/.
Schritt 2:
Entzippe die heruntergeladene Datei auf Deiner
Festplatte. Dieser Vorgang erstellt einen Ordner namens
„Piwik“.
Step 2:
Unzip the file on your hard drive. This process
automatically creates a folder named “Piwik.”
The folder contains the program data and subfolders.
Schritt 3:
Öffne Deinen FTP-Client und lade die Piwik Dateien im
„Binär-Modus“ auf Deinen Server in deinem
gewünschten Unterordner hoch.
Die Dateien können z. B. in dem Unterordner „analytics“
in Deinem öffentlichen Ordner „www“ hochgeladen
laufen lassen, z. B. http://analytics.example.org
Step 3:
Pick a sub-folder, open the FTP Client, and load the Piwik files
onto your server in binary mode.
For instance, the files can be uploaded in the “analytics”
sub-folder in the public “www” folder, e.g. http://
yourdomain.com/analytics/
Of course, you can also have Piwik run on a sub-domain, e.g.
http://analytics.example.org
Schritt 4:
Step 4:
Open your web browser and go to the URL you want Piwik
uploaded to. If you’ve followed the previous steps, you should
see the welcome screen of the Piwik installation program
now.
Klicke auf dem Willkommens-Bildschirm auf „Next“.
Three Common Misconceptions
About Phishing
At Return Path, we talk to all kinds of people about email fraud—from
marketing managers to Chief Information Security Officers. Often, we confront
some of the same misconceptions.
So, we thought it might be useful to our audience if we debunk three of the most
common misconceptions about phishing attacks here on our blog:
Author:
www.returnpath.com
Drei häufige Irrtümer
beim Thema Phishing
(Falls Du
1. People should be the first line of defense against
phishing attacks.
Companies around the world invest millions in employee and
customer email security education. But despite this investment,
email fraud is on the rise. In the first quarter of 2016,
the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) observed more
phishing attacks than at any other time in history
Why? Because most people—97 percent, according to
Intel—cannot identify a sophisticated phishing attack. And
nearly 50 percent of recipients open phishing emails and
click on malicious links within the first hour.
Your first line of defense should always be technology, not
people. Email authentication is the best way to protect your
customers, employees, and bottom line from email fraud.
2. Implementing a DMARC “reject” policy protects the
email channel from all phishing attacks.
Luckily, many of our prospects and clients already
understand the critical need for email authentication. They
look to us for help implementing a DMARC (Domain-based
Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance)
“reject” policy on all of their owned domains. (For a refresher
on what DMARC is and how it works, read this post.)
But once a “reject” policy is in place, your company is not
fully protected from email fraud. Cybercriminals will find other
ways to spoof your brand—by manipulating the Display
Name, using “look-alike” domains, spoofing your brand in
the subject line, and much more. To identify and mitigate the
impact of phishing attacks beyond the reach of DMARC, you
must leverage email threat intelligence.
3. Email security is the responsibility of the IT and
security teams alone.
The impact of email fraud permeates the entire business. It
destroys brand trust, drains capital, and reduces the performance
and ROI of legitimate email campaigns.
After a phishing campaign, both users and mailbox providers
don’t know what to trust and often flag legitimate emails as
spam. Return Path found that one in five phishing attacks negatively
impacts the deliverability of a brand’s marketing
48 AWM pro
02|2016
emails and one in three phishing attacks results in reduced
subscriber engagement.
The solution to such a universal problem cannot be achieved
in a silo.
Executives from teams across the business must unite to
create and implement a common email security defense
„97 percent, according to Intel -
cannot identify a sophisticated
phishing attack. And nearly 50 percent
of recipients open phishing emails
strategy founded on the latest advancements in technology
should be at the helm of this collaboration, guiding the group
to:
• Identify the customer and security risks involved in the
email channel
• Outline solutions to these risks
• Invest in an email defense strategy that protects the
customer, the brand, and the bottom line from
email fraud
Media buying follows its own rules. Whenever I peek over media buyers’
shoulders, they’re usually all about buying lots and lots of traffic, having banners
that create many clicks, sending users to a fire and forget landing page, and
above all, it’s about pay per lead ROI. They hardly concern themselves with
revshare deals. And I’ve always wondered: why?
R
Media Buying gehorcht seinen ganz eigenen Regeln.
So this January, I started a little experiment that went
No pay per lead and no banners on positions 1 - 5.
verwenden.
Into the Blue
Januar 2016.
Monat 1 bedeutete für mich also zunächst
Herumprobieren.
1k visitors for 1$”.
sah, was er schon vom Banner her kannte.
Mixed Marketing
My goal was to use media buying as fuel for social media
and SEO. Therefore, I did not want a landing page. Instead, I
used a Datingpartner.com PHP portal and created my own
template that ended up being very similar to Reifefrauen.com
– after all, I wanted the best-possible rate of conversion from
free user to premium user. Also I placed links to the site’s Facebook
page. For the website itself, I used on-page SEO, but
I didn’t’ bother with link building.
Into the Blue
January 2016. Now I had a site to advertise, but what I didn’t
have was any idea of how to buy traffic. The first month was
filled with trial and error. The budget I had for testing the various
advertising tools was €400. It’s important to know that
you won’t get this money back. It’s the fee for learning the
ropes, so to speak. But you always have to make an investment
if you really want to learn something!
I tested pretty much everything from skimmed TGPs to popups
and pop-unders to “buy 1k visitors for $1.” And if there
was one thing I got en masse, it was traffic! However, this
traffic doesn’t do you any good if it doesn’t even convert with
black and white lists. Staggering bounce rates and low PPV
are not really conducive to SEO. Ultimately, the best results I
got when it came to user interaction and sign-ups came from
cost per click, the most expensive form of traffic.
Optimization
February – The second month, my budget: €200. Using what
I had learned from my “shot in the dark” approach, I now
had a reliable baseline. So the next step was optimizing it.
But where do you begin? First, I took care of the banner. The
one I had used thus far addressed the “MILF” theme I was
going for, but it had no similarities whatsoever with the target
site. Fixing the banner brought the bounce rate down a peg
Banners. Durch diese Optimierung konnte ich nun 25%
der Ausgaben einsparen, bekam insgesamt etwas weniger,
dafür aber qualitativ hochwertigeren Traffic. Durch
die Middlelandingpage wurde die Bouncerate der Webseite
auf unter 28% gesenkt, die Pageviews per Visitor
auf 14+ erhöht und eine durchschnittliche Haltezeit von
10 bis 12 Minuten erreicht.
or two because now the user got what he expected when clicking the banner. The users
checked out the site, resulting in solid dwell times and lots of page impressions. What’s
more, I got the first likes on the Facebook page. That told me that I was on the right track,
however, I was not really satisfied with the results yet. I decided to use a middle landing
page to be presented to the user after he had clicked the banner – of course, the design of
this page was the same as the actual site and banner – with three “pseudo” rules the user
had to agree to. And lo and behold, the interaction, the dwell time, and the sign-ups
improved by a factor of 4!
Fine-tuning
I had been about to break even at the end of the second month, so I knew that the third
month would bring profits thanks to the revshare subscription model. But there was still a
lot of potential to unearth, for instance optimizing the price for clicks or ad banner positions.
This adjustment helped me save 25% of my expenses, and while the amount of traffic went
down a bit, it’s quality certainly improved. The middle landing page had already pushed the
bounce rate of the website below 28%, the page views per visitor were up to +14, and the
average dwell time was 10 to 12 minutes.
As expected, I finished the third month in the black, and it turned out to be a great result.
One of the reasons for this success was the extraordinary free to premium rate of 1:11 at
Datingpartner that month. The active users had continuously expanded the reach of the Facebook
page, and with just one posting, I now reached a thousand users. By that point, I
also got search engine traffic. Given the great user stats, the site didn’t even require
additional SEO work to get good SERP positions for all
relevant keywords right away, and its position has done nothing
but improve until today. Now, it gets top rankings for several
of its keywords. And thanks to the revshare subscription
model, the site continues to create greater and greater profits
without requiring greater investments.
Summary
Over the course of a three-month trial run, I wanted to find
out it was possible to successfully utilize purchased traffic
without having previous experience in this field. Today – half
a year later – I can say that, yes, it is possible! And my definition
of “successfully utilize” is not limited to sign-ups, but
I am also talking about a positive, long-term effect on my site.
So you can consider this proof that in the long run, there is
more money to be made – and to be made more safely –
with rev share than with the leads that are so popular in
media buying. Plus, if there’s one thing I love, it’s rebills!
medium, was Marketing und Traffic-Ausbau angeht.
Was wir
This technological evolution couldn’t have come at a
better time, as changes in the adult entertainment
marketplace have motivated a shift to self-promotion for
performers, who find an easy avenue by using a medium
they already know — Twitter — and it is not the only opportunity
among a growing number of social media platforms,
which include Instagram, Tumblr, various “adults only”
networks and more.
XBIZ World recently asked a pair of the industry’s top social
media gurus, Lauren MacEwen of 7Veils and Porn Star
Tweet’s Pete Housley, for their take on social media and its
impact on today’s live cam arena. Here’s what they had
to say:
XBIZ: How big a role does social media play in empowering
live cam performers today?
Lauren MacEwen: It can be a central part of their entire
marketing strategy. It is a way for them to build up quality
relationships with their customers and to drive those customers
to their website with more frequency, as well as meet
new customers. It also allows them to network with other
models for future projects. For many [cam performers] it is
the primary source of marketing and traffic driving.
Pete Housley: As a live cam performer, social media is likely
one of the most important tools for creating a fan base. In the
early days of live cams, consumers would hit the cam
website and see who was online and watch their show.
While that practice remains, tools such as Twitter, Tumblr and
even Facebook allow cam performers to have more
“personal” relationships with their customers. Many cam
networks have also introduced social media style features to
engage with existing and potential customers, even when the
model is offline.
XBIZ: Why should performers bother with self-promotion,
isn’t that the cam company’s job?
Housley: In my opinion, gone are the days when an unknown
model can simply log on to a network and expect the website
to do all the promotion. In fact, there are a number of
platforms, such as SkyPrivate, that don’t drive any real traffic,
sparen sie sich auf diesem Wege. Produkte wie Model-
Centro bieten Cam-Models zudem eine End-to-End-
Lösung, einschließlich leicht zu erstellender Webseite
und dazu Live-Cam- und Telefon-Optionen.
MacEwen: Das ist ein weitverbreiteter Irrtum. Aufgabe
they simply provide a platform for billing through Skype. What
we find more and more is cam performers building a
following on the bigger networks, then converting some of
their fans to doing private shows through Skype or similar
tools, avoiding the cam networks altogether.
We also see more performers utilizing the offline capabilities
of platforms such as Clips4Sale, YouKandy and ManyVids,
because they allow the performer to sell clips to their fan
base without having to mess around with developing a site,
getting processing and dealing with all the headaches.
Products such as ModelCentro offer an end to end solution
for cam models to have a website in a box, along with a live
cam and phone option.
MacEwen: That is a common misconception. It is the cam
company’s job to promote the cam company not the model
herself. The most empowering things about cam’s are the
ability to directly influence your ability to make money. Girls
that put effort into their self-promotion tend to do significantly
better than the ones that do not.
MacEwen: Twitter is the best for brand building, traffic
driving and customer engagement. Instagram is great for
building audience; and Tumblr is a great alternative for
previewing content popularity, prior to having your own site.
Reddit can be a great source if used properly, but can have
a difficult audience; while Snapchat is being used as way for
cam girls to make more money by selling access to their
profile, though this is technically a violation of the company’s
Terms of Service.
Facebook is the least friendly, since they won’t allow you to
share links to adult sites, or adult content. Though Instagram
is the same, IG does not have the same issues with the
newsfeed algorithm that Facebook does.
Housley: It’s pretty much always Twitter leading the charge
here for adult friendly social media, however Tumblr and even
Reddit have strong followings. Instragram and Facebook can
also be awesome if you can behave yourself and play inside
MacEwen: Man sollte so etwas niemals
automatisieren.
Netzwerk erhalten. Außerdem lassen sich auf diese
Weise neue Models rekrutieren.
many others. Of course we recommend every cam model
register with our site CamGirlTweet.com for hands-free
promotion, which they can do by tweeting us
@CamGirlTweet or by emailing verify@pornstartweet.com.
XBIZ: Are there any popular tools for automating the
process?
Housley: Automating this task for performers is a little
difficult given the more personal relationship they have with
fans.
Most cam networks offer some level of integration with
Twitter, however I recommend against using a tool that would
tweet every time a performer comes online, because it
becomes repetitive and boring. Consumers want performers
to engage with them through social media, not just spam
them repeatedly.
Social media tools such as HootSuite and Sprout Social can
schedule tweets, which can be pretty handy, and Hootsuite
even has a technology that will send a tweet when it has the
best chance of interaction with their follower base.
MacEwen: You should never automate. There are different
audiences on each of the networks, and your posts should
be customized for those networks. Tools that can help
expedite posting and engagement are Hootsuite, Tweetdeck,
and IFTTT, which can be valuable.
XBIZ: Can cam companies and studios also benefit from
social media marketing?
MacEwen: Twitter can be a primary traffic driver for cam
companies, plus it can be a great way to deal with customer
service issues. The cam companies can promote the
company, and the models, who like it when they are
receiving marketing support from the company. It is also a
good way to recruit models.
Housley: Of course, and not just to drive consumer traffic.
Cam companies and studios are using social media to recruit
new performers, and also to woo performers away from their
present networks. A cam network without performers is
useless, so we see more and more cam companies and studios
spending time talking about their programs and perfor-
Was professionelle Dienstleister
ming customer service to performers through social
media to drive consumer traffic — and even help their own
performers gain traction through social media with re-tweets
and mentions.
XBIZ: How can professional service providers help?
Housley: The hard truth about social media, especially for
performers, is that hiring outside help or an assistant is never
a substitute for the personality that comes through in
handling your own accounts. At its core, social media is
supposed to be a conversation, and it’s hard to communicate
sensuality through a translator.
If you need help getting setup with social media or some
pointers, feel free to tweet us @CamGirlTweet — we’ve
helped tons of performers. As for hiring a professional, there’s
simply no one who can talk about you better than you... hire
a PR person to help you develop a persona and message that
can be used in traditional media outlets, but be yourself on
social media.
MacEwen: I am awesome and I can do anything! That aside,
we have worked with many cam companies to help increase
their reach, do model recruitment, customer service, and
drive traffic back to the site.
There are many service providers, from SEO to traffic, that
can be helpful depending on if you are a site owner, studio
model, independent model, or affiliate. The professional
needs you may have will depend on your specific role. As a
professional service provider, we provide social media management
and strategy for models and companies looking
to expand and increase the efficacy of their social media.
Housley and MacEwen make it clear that social media is an
integral part of profiting for cam companies, performers, and
studios today — and as technology advances, it is sure to
offer further opportunities for those wishing to take their
careers and company’s success into their own hands,
cultivating connections through social media — and in many
cases, cutting the middle man from betwixt patron and
performer.
Zoosk veröffentlicht diesen Sommer zwei neue Apps
Art der Monetarisierung viel besser für ihren „One Match A Day“-Dienst
geeignet sei.
2. Once Tripled Revenue With Virtual Currency
During Once CMO Eva Peris’ excellent talk, she revealed that
after the French dating app switched its monetisation strategy
from a subscription to a virtual currency model, the
company tripled its revenue. The startup’s CMO said this type
of monetisation was much more suited to its “one match a
In a fascinating talk, Venntro CEO & co-founder Ross Williams
disaster came after the company was first blacklisted on
SpamHaus, then dropped by its payment company Worldpay
and having to find a new payment provider within 60 days.
Phua’s talk on building the Southeast Asian mobile
Die Auswahl des Provisionsmodells ist, neben Contentauswahl, Suchmaschinenoptimierung
und Trafficquellen, eine der wichtigsten Entscheidungen, mit
denen Webmaster beim Aufbau einer eigenen Website heutzutage konfrontiert
unterschiedliche Provisionsmodelle zur Monetarisierung seines Traffics bereit.
Revenue Share
A Hard Decision?
Apart from picking your content, search engine optimization, and traffic sources,
choosing a commission model ranks among the most important decisions a webmaster
is faced with nowadays when creating a website. If the webmasters won’t or can’t market
their own product on the website, the affiliate programs that provide the product usually
offer a number of commission models for the webmaster to choose from for monetizing
his traffic.
AWM pro 81
Report
Grundlegend können die verschiedenen Provisionsmodelle
in zwei Monetarisierungsarten unterteilt
(selten zweistelligen) Eurobereich bewegen
muss also durch eigene Tests erst herausfinden, ob
In diesem
Basically, the various commission models
can be divided into two types of monetization.
On one hand, you have a one-time commission,
usually flat-rate, in the form of a fixed sum per
lead, click, or action. This commission model is
very similar to selling traffic to an affiliate program,
consequently, it is also described as cost
per lead/click/action (CPL, CPC, CPA). With this
one-time commission, the traffic is basically
sold, and everything to do with it, from
conversion to skimming profits, is then up to the
buyer/product provider. How much money webmasters
get usually depends on the quality of
their own traffic, from a few cents a few euro,
maxing out in the high single-digit figures (very
rarely, you get two-digit figures). Often, there is
an ad network somewhere in the middle so the
webmasters don’t sell their traffic directly to the
product provider but to the ad network which
then re-sells it. The advantage here is that a network
can often get better lead prices from the
product providers, and due to their ad server resources,
they can also utilize it more effectively.
However, the ad network also wants to make
money so they keep a percentage, and the webmaster
only gets a small part of the actual lead
price. Therefore, webmasters have to do some
tests to see whether working with an ad network
pays off for them – quite literally.
Apart from that, there’s the revenue share model
where webmasters get a percentage of the turnover
that has actually been generated. In this
case, the traffic won’t be sold to a product provider
but instead, the webmasters remain part
of the equation. Conversion, skimming profits,
etc. – the webmasters are part of that, participating
directly and continuously, getting their
share of all the money the product generates.
Depending on the product, the webmasters usu-
mehr einer Partnerschaft mit dem produktgebenden
Revenue Share bietet dem Webmaster die
Möglichkeit, mit erfolgreichen Produkten langfristig zu
monetarisieren. Insbesondere Abo- und/oder lang -
fristig kundenbindende Produkte sind für dieses Provisionsmodell
sehr interessant.
Wie entscheidet ein Webmaster jetzt aber, welches
Provisionsmodell das für ihn profitabelste ist? Nun,
Produkt, welches er bewerben will, genau
anschauen, damit er nicht mit falschen Versprechungen
am Produkt vorbei wirbt. Passen Produkt
ally get 30% to 50% of the overall turnover. This
commission model is a lot like a partnership with
the affiliate program that provides the product, and
less like a simple business relationship. Revenue
sharing allows webmasters to make money off
their successful products in the long run. Subscription-based
products or products with a high rate
of long-term retention are particularly suited for
this commission model.
But how does a webmaster decide which model is
best for him? Well, that depends on the quality of
his or her traffic and on the product. As a rule of
thumb, the traffic should be right for the advertised
product, and it shouldn’t bounce around the web
aimlessly. Furthermore, webmasters should take a
close look at the product they want to advertise so
they don’t make any false promises about the product.
If product and traffic match, the webmaster
should take a closer look at the terms and conditions
tied to the different commission models.
There are a few pitfalls to look out for, because
those could dampen the prospect of success. Is
the lead price fixed or variable? Does the product
provider reserve the right to axe leads or change
the terms of the commission model? Is there a cap
and a floor in terms of volume? Is the revshare
payout a net amount, or are there additional costs
erfolgt mittels Leadvalue, also Erfolg pro Lead.
Voraussetzung
ist hier natürlich, dass das Partnerprogramm die
Lifetime-Bindung des Kunden garantiert.
Die Entscheidung, ob kurzfristige Monetarisierung pro
Lead oder langfristige Erfolgsbeteiligung via Revenue
for billing, etc. – put differently, are the 50%
we mentioned earlier really what you get, or is it
50% of the user turnover minus billing and service
costs, i.e. not really 50% revshare? Is there a
clause in the revshare model that binds the provider
to the webmaster, or are there limitations?
Once all these things are worked out, you can
compare the two commission models based on
their potential for success in the long run. To make
that comparison, use the lead value, i.e. success
measured by lead. With CPL, the lead value can
easily be deduced from the fixed payment per
lead. With revenue share, you need to consider
how long the product is advertised in a
subscription situation, and you need to keep an
eye on possible upgrades, cross-sales, coin purchases,
and other possibilities for conversion in
order to calculate the lifetime value of a customer.
Furthermore, you need to establish how many
leads you need to generate a paying customer (i.e.
conversion rate). From this, you can calculate the
average lead value: Just divide the lifetime value
by the number of required leads.
This way, you can compare the different commission
models and determine which one is better
suited for your traffic. However, you should not
hurry these tests as the lifetime value in the
revshare models only builds over time. This is
especially true for products with additional conversion
options. The long-term turnover can increase
considerably over the course of months or
years, so that should not be underestimated. Of
course, this option only makes sense if the affiliate
program can guarantee lifetime retention.
Share kann also grundsätzlich mittels Berechnung der
Leadvalue entschieden werden. Man sollte hierbei
Monetarisierung via CPL immer davon
beschrieben.
In
diesem Sinne, allen
ein glückliches Händchen
bei der Auswahl
ihres Provisionsmodells
und
natürlich der
Produkte.
venue share. But as always, there are also other
factors that should be taken into consideration. For
instance, short-term CPL monetization is only effective
if you have a steady traffic flow; otherwise
there might be sudden dry spells. As for the
revenue share model, you depend largely on your
existing customers, and everybody who’s endured
a few Google updates knows how quickly traffic
sources can evaporate. Consequently, it is no surprise
that CPL is found in media buying more often
than in regular webmaster business.
Last but not least, you should know that the
product provider will follow the same logic described
in this article when calculating the CPL lead
payout. Therefore, even if you get a good payout,
you can be sure that the product is making a lot
more money than you’d think. The profit margin
here is carefully chosen by the provider. With the
revshare model, on the other hand, you’d get a
better percentage, but you also need more
patience. On that note, I wish you all good luck and
lots of success picking your commission model
and your products as well.
An Expensive Affair
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the most expensive football player in
the world… WRONG! Football Leaks claim to have found out that Gareth Bale,
who is supposed to transfer from Tottenham to Real Madrid for a 100 million Euro,
is now supposedly the most expensive player in the world. Three times World
Footballer of the Year Ronaldo will probably be quite hurt, as he is known to be
quite vain… uhm, I mean honourable, because it should be obvious, that who is
the most expensive, is also the best… or is it?
The most expensive Cocktail
When a former jeweller turns to barkeeping, the term “cocktail mixing” can be taken literally: Pete
Gugni offers a drink called “Ruby Red” at his Chicago Club called “Reserve”. It contains pomegranate
liqueur, orange juice, vodka and a dash of Dom Perignon Champagne. The price tag is quite high at $950,
due to the small ruby that floats at the bottom of the glass, which makes the Ruby Red the most expensive
drink of all times, according to Gungi… which is not a 100% true: In New York a Martini with a diamond in
it is served, it supposedly costs $10,000 – cheers!
Prost!
Das teuerste Fleisch…
...kommt vom japanischen Kobe-Rind. Warum?
The most expensive beef…
… is the meat of the Japanese Kobe cattle.
Why? It is the meat with the highest grade
of marbleisation of all different cattle breeds
with the fewest saturated acids. The animals
are reared in a way that is three times more extensive than rearing “regular”
cattle. The animals are being stroked and fussed over without end, which culminates
in a retail price of €400 to €600 per kilogram. Whether the regular
consumers palate can appreciate this luxury meat in its grilled form remains
to be seen.
The most expensive water…
… might also be given to the Kobe cattle in Japan,
who knows!? In any case, water is an object of
prestige in certain spheres – namely those wo can
afford it. Japan seems to be populated by quite a
lot of these affluent gourmets, because that is
where one can buy “Kona Nigari”. The water originates
at the Hawaiian coast and retails at €400
per litre.
Das teuerste Wasser…
...kriegen die Kobe-
Rinder vielleicht auch zu
trinken, wer weiß. Auf
jeden Fall gehört Wasser
längst zum Prestige-Objekt
unter Kennern - und
denen, die es sich leisten
können. Irgendwie scheint
Japan stark besiedelt von
solchen Gourmets zu
sein, denn dort bekommt
man das "Kona Nigari".
Das Wasser stammt von
der hawaiianischen Küste
und kostet 410 Euro (pro
Liter, versteht sich).
The most expensive sneakers…
… some value their ears, others their feet: The Air Jeezy “Red October” was sold out in 15 minutes, which
made one bidder bid $17 million for one pair. This is possible due to the popularity of the designer, rapper
Kayne West. One might argue that no one would be surprised really if Mr. West himself was the ominous
bidder. Currently the red sneakers are available for around $200, when they are not sold out, which shows
that price decline is something that can happen to even the most expensive things in the world.
ausverkauft.
Nun bekommt man
The most expensive headphones…
… are supposed to be the best of the best, and is made by
Sennheiser: the newly reissued Orpheus HE 1060. The ceramic
transducers are gold-vaporised, the diaphragms are platinumvaporised.
There are quite a few more exclusive features, listing
them all would take up way too much
space. One thing that can definitely be said
is that this wonder of sound
with state of the art technology
with a companion
tube amplifier costs
around 50.000 EUR.
Der teuerste Kopfhörer…
…soll wirklich der Beste sein, kommt
von Sennheiser und ist der neuaufgelegte
Wandler sind goldbedampft;
die Membranen gar platinbedampft.
Er kann natürlich noch viel mehr, aber
das würde hier den Rahmen spren -
gen. Fakt ist, dass das State-of-the-
Art-Technik-und-Klangwunder mit zugehörigem
Rushing over the lawn…
… is something you can do in only four seconds -
with the Honda Mean Mower. That is how long it
takes the Mean Mower to go from zero to a hundred.
The cool thing is: it mows the lawn at the
same time, because in real life it is also “just” a
lawn mower. It just does more than 180 kilometres
per hour and will probably even make a Golf GTI
look bad. Honda wanted to get into the Guinness
Book of World Records – and made it. If this lawn
mower ever reaches the market you would need a
pretty large lawn, otherwise you would mow most
of your neighbours’ lawns before you know it, due
to the high speed.
Drawing from the extensive technical know-how of
SGM Media and the company’s first-class international contacts,
CEO Andy Wullmer and the team have started SGMPro,
a powerful performance network in the mainstream market.
However, just because that’s the key market for SGMPro doesn’t
mean that adult webmasters won’t also find a selection
of first rate products with top conversions. They’ll get the
same quality they’ve come to expect from SGM.
SGMPro sets new standards as far as technology, statistics,
and precision are concerned. The performance network is
based on highly intelligent routing, novel IP identification for
traffic filtering, and a high-performance, modern frontend for
stats. These three components allow our partners to achieve
the best-possible conversion with their traffic. At the heart of
SGMPro is a complex interplay of multi-layered filtering (IP,
menspiel aus mehrschichtigem Filtering (IP, Cookie,
Algorithmen. Dieses System ermöglicht ein
bestmögliches Targeting, das durch überdurch -
schnittliche eCPMs einer stetig wachsenden Anzahl von
Publishern zugute kommt.
Dazu bietet SGMPro neben
klassischen Statistiken auch den "Clickalyzer", der alle
Zahlen auf einer einzigartigen Oberfläche visualisiert. Mit
diesen individuellen Möglichkeiten des Controllings machen
gute Umsätze gleich doppelt so viel Spaß.
This system allows for optimum targeting, and with extraordinary
eCPMs, the number of publishers who benefit
from this system is growing constantly.
But there’s more. Of course, every publisher wants to be able
to analyze their traffic or the turnover generated from it,
having all relevant KPIs at his fingertips. SGMPro offers just
that, not just with conventional statistics, but also with the
Clickalizer that visualizes all numbers in a unique fashion.
The possibilities for individual control are vast, making sound
turnover twice as satisfying. Moreover, the extensive range
of analytical tools hold plenty of potential for bigger turnover.
Publishers can influence the structure of their offer any way
they wish, from nuanced selection layers – for analyzing their
traffic and directing it to the right offers – to smartlinks, which
take care of this fine-tuning quickly and reliably, utilizing the
power of the technologies mentioned above. This way, any
publisher can have personal control over his traffic, and they
can always be sure to achieve top results.
SGMPro is easy and intuitive to use, but of course, our publisher
managers are always there to provide webmasters,
media buyers, and traffic brokers with professional advice
and know-how. After all, it’s also in our interest that feedback
keeps getting better and better.
But of course, none of that would be doing much good if
there weren’t strong, well-converting offers from the advertisers.
This is where the exclusive partnerships of SGM Media
come into play, as well as newly established business relationships.
Thanks to the great reputation of SGM Media
This has resulted in impressive growth that continues
