POWTERS<br />

Powters is one of many butchers who will be celebrating National<br />

Butchers’ Week with tastings, promotions and other events to<br />

promote the benefits of using a good butchers shop.<br />

With the so called ‘food revolution’ well underway, shoppers<br />

are far more choosey about what meat they cook with, where<br />

it comes from and most importantly - the quality of it. People<br />

are looking for exciting and original products which offer tasty<br />

modern twists. The growing popularity of restaurant and fast food<br />

eating has made consumers aware of many alternative ways of<br />

preparing and cooking meats – but they don’t necessarily want<br />

the inconvenience, neither can they spare the time to create<br />

these at home. This is where an artisan butcher comes in. They<br />

have detailed knowledge and source their meats locally to give<br />

assurance as to where the meat comes from and how it was<br />

raised.<br />

At Powters some of the most popular meat products are ‘kitchen<br />

ready’ which means that we have trimmed and prepared them,<br />

adding other ingredients so that all that remains is to place them<br />

in the oven or grill. These include world-inspired flavours which<br />

add a twist to traditional cuts.<br />

With summer just around the corner BBQ favourites include<br />

pork satay, lamb kebabs and burgers but sausages have always<br />

been the biggest attraction for Powters customers.<br />

The best-selling Newmarket Sausage we have now been making<br />

for an incredible five generations, since 1881!<br />

We’ve branched out now and have many tasty alternatives. Our<br />

Chilli Pig is a mild chilli flavoured sausage, ‘Scrumpy pig’ is made<br />

with cider and sage herbs, Tipsy Pig is a really rather good pork<br />

and ale sausage and our Skinny Pig low fat sausage weighs in at<br />

under 3% fat and only half a Slimming World Syn!<br />

“From the beginning, our in-house butchery has always been<br />

one of the attractions of visiting our Food Hall. Our butchers<br />

have striven to maintain an interesting choice of cuts of the best<br />

home-reared, and local meat presented in a most appetising<br />

display. In addition, the provenance we offer particularly of<br />

our own estate wild venison is second to none. Game when<br />

in season, rabbits, goat and even squirrel have all graced our<br />

butchery counter over the years. One or two of these having<br />

been the source of some inspiring and entertaining customer<br />

conversations regarding recipes!<br />

Always popular of course, our range of homemade sausages<br />

seems to get bigger all the time thanks to one of the butchery<br />

team who simply loves making them! The choice of homemade<br />

burgers is pretty good to.<br />

At Christmas (a little early perhaps) but still good to know, we<br />

can offer you free range Norfolk Bronze and black turkeys,<br />

geese, ducks and chickens all of which can become one amazing<br />

multi-stuffed bird if that is your wish. So whether your seeking<br />

one of our chicken breasts in a mouthwatering sauce or an entire<br />

venison fillet, one of our butchers will be on hand 7 days a week<br />
