Panoply Arts Festival Huntsville, Alabama - April 27-29 Since its first year in 1982, the Panoply Arts Festival, sponsored by The Arts Council of Huntsville, has grown to be a major cultural attraction of the region, including local and regional artists in every medium in the Art Marketplace, a juried competition with cash awards for category winners. Panoply also features children’s art activities, entertainment stages and more - including the Alabama State Fiddle Competition. Admission is $5 ($10 for an all-event pass) and children under 12 years of age are admitted for free. Located adjacent to the Figge Arts Center, the Beaux Arts Fair provides plenty of cultural attractions with music, food and children’s activities. The Beaux Arts Fair is organized as a semi-annual event, with another exhibition scheduled for September 8-9. Located in City Square Park in uptown Marion, the event features 100 artists as well as a half marathon, food and the Empty Bowls project where more than 1,000 ceramic bowls created by area students are sold for charity. Unique to this fair is the Emerging Artists Pavilion where peer-juried art from undergraduate students in Columbia is displayed but not sold. Another facet of Art in the Park is the regular rotation of music and magic on the performing stage. Today, more than 200 select artists gather in downtown Des Moines near the beautiful John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Garden. The range of art is incredible, with large scale metal sculptures, awe-inspiring oil paintings and introspective photography. In addition to the variety of artwork available, attendees enjoy an eclectic mix of food, music and art education activities. The festival attracts approximately 10,000 visitors drawn by a reputation for offering an affordable and diverse selection.
