The 10 Most Important Personality Traits for
Career Success
According to Dr. Tom Denham (2010) successful people tend to be/have:
1 Attitude – The capacity to stay optimistic and positive. The #1 quality for career
success is “Championship Thinking.”
2 Enthusiastic – The possession of intense and eager interest in a subject or cause.
It is an energy that often inspires others.
3 Ethical – The quality of having and living by a code of sound moral principles.
4 Goal Focused – The ability to have clarity on the objectives that you strive for in
your personal and professional life.
5 Listener – The capacity to suspend your own agenda and deliberately and
empathically allow others to be heard.
6 Networked – A well-developed circle of influence of interconnected positive
relationships.
7 Persistent – The ability to endure in the face of adversity. It is a patient and
relenting effort to achieve despite difficulties.
8 Self-Aware – The understanding and knowledge of who you are including your
skills, values, interests, behaviours and character.
9 Self-Confident – The firm belief in your abilities. Seek professional help if this is
an area of weakness – it will be worth it.

Does Rafizi fit those traits?
1 Attitude – The capacity to stay optimistic
and positive. The #1 quality for career
success is “Championship Thinking.”
He has a very positive attitude indeed. No matter
what comes before him, he will take it as a
challenge – he has encountered many problematic
staff and confronted number of difficult and
challenging situations. Though at times he had to
drag his feet to work, he pushes himself to the
fullest as he knows that nothing is impossible,
unless of course you want to see it as a problem.
2 Enthusiastic – The possession of intense
and eager interest in a subject or cause. It
is an energy that often inspires others.

as he is forever
enthusiastic in
whatever he does. Be it
at work or play, being
enthusiastic is what he
really is.
3 Ethical – The quality of having and living by
a code of sound moral principles.
No doubt, looking at his everyday attire, it simply
describes how ethical he is. Without fail, he would
dress up according to the day’s dress code – office
attire complete with neck tie on daily basis, Baju
Batik on Thursdays and Baju Melayu on Fridays.
From the way he dresses up, one can tell whether
he is ethical or not.
4 Goal Focused – The ability to have clarity on
the objectives that you strive for in your
personal and
professional
life.
In everything he does, he would have his own goals
and objectives. On top of his own goals, he would
make an effort to thoroughly understand the goals
of his superiors so that he is at par with the goals
of his organization.
5 Listener – The capacity to suspend your
own agenda and deliberately and
empathically allow others to be heard.
He has always been a good listener. Particularly, in
addressing his problematic staff. He would call
them, talk to them and listen to their problems and
issues, before
suggesting anything to overcome the issue at hand.

approachable. An extrinsic type of a personality he
has.

No questions asked. He would ensure that
everything is well managed, though he had to do
everything by himself. Most of the times, you would
still see him during odd hours, still at his desk,
working out on something until he is satisfied.
That’s him!
8 Self-Aware – The understanding and
knowledge of who you are including your
skills, values, interests, behaviours and
character.
He knows himself very well. He understands his
capabilities, talents and skills, and very well verse
with just anything particularly in the things he
adores. Just talk to him about politics, cars, people,
books, he would be able to voice out his views and
opinions without hesitation.
9 Self-Confident – The firm belief in your
abilities. Seek professional help if this is an
area of weakness – it will be worth it.
Does he not have this? Overwhelming. He has all
the confident in this world. If not, he wouldn’t be
asking questions in most talks and conferences,
which is a must for him. He wouldn’t be wearing
fancy outfits at theme oriented dinners. He
wouldn’t accept the task of a moderator or an
emcee.
10 Self-Discipline – The ability to control and
restrain impulses. Energy then can be
focused and channelled toward your
ambitions.
Being on time for work; going to work on sick days;
staying back late just in case any times are taken
away from office work; portraying good examples
to staff.
Those are among the things he does –portraying
self-disciplined in him.

FKE MoU Signing with Tokyo

On the 10th August 2016, Faculty of Electrical
Engineering (FKE), Universiti Teknologi MARA
(UTIM) received a visit from delegates of Tokyo
Denki University (TDU), Japan, in conjunction
with a memorandum of understanding (MoU)
signing ceremony between the two institutions.
The visit was organised by Center of
Communication Engineering Studies (CECES) of
FKE. TDU was represented by Prof. Dr. Hiroshi
Yasuda, President of TDU, and Prof. Dr.
Takehiko Kobayashi, Director of International
Center of TDU.

Majlis Menandatangani MoU Antara
UiTM - Tokyo Denki Universiti (TDU), Jepun
Prior to the signing ceremony, TDU delegates visited UITM's
Vice Chancellor office, where a short discussion was held with
Prof. Emeritus Dato' Dr. Hassan Said, the Vice Chancellor of
UITM. After the short meeting,
both parties signed the MoU in a
ceremony held at the Chancellery
Building. This MoU is hoped to
strengthen, promote and develop
international and research
cooperation between the parties
in terms of promoting institutional
exchanges between faculty and
staff, starting-off with joint
research in Microwave
Engineering and Information
Engineering. Other areas of
cooperation includes promotion of
undergraduate and graduate
students exchange, coorganization
of symposium,
conferences, short courses and
meetings on research related
issues. At the same event, we also
had the privilege to organize a
special lecture from the President
of TDU, Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Yasuda,
entitled "Future Prospects in the
Era of Web 3.0".

ILTIZAM @FKE: A
Passion Sharing Platform

On 25 January 2017, FKE organized
ILTIZAM @FKE, a program that
gathered all the staff of the faculty,
and where the Dean, Prof. Dr. Mohd
Nasir Taib, delivered a briefing
message from top management and
disseminated the latest information
and new progress about the
university.
ILTIZAM@FKE is planned for four
gatherings in 2017. In the first ILTIZAM
@FKE, which was conducted in
conjunction with the New Year 2017
celebration, a total of 180 staff were
present and the Dean took the
opportunity to wish Happy New Year
to everyone. He also conveyed his
message in support of the mandate
that was given by the Minister of
Higher Education and the Vice
Chancellor of UiTM.
e-Procurement PLUS
Workshop

Bengkel e-PROCUREMENT PLUS
Peringkat FKE
On 24 January 2017, the e-Procurement
Plus (EP +) Workshop was held at Sun 1
lab, Level 9 Faculty of Electrical
Engineering UiTM. The workshop was
attended by representatives from each
department and the technical staff who
are involved in managing procurement. It
is part of the preparation plan to manage
teaching and learning equipment where EP
+ is being implemented starting from
January 2017. Zaffur Azahar Mohd Nazri,
the Procurement Assistant Treasury
Officer and his team conducted the oneday
workshop, and they are expected to
help facilitate the procurement process at
the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Congratulation Mr. Hamdani as New President PPP UiTM

Persatuan Penolong Pensyarah (PPP) UiTM was officiated on February 15, 2017 at the Al-Haytam Seminar Room,
Level 8 Faculty of Electrical Engineering UiTM. The launching ceremony was officiated by Tuan Haji Zulkifli
Mohamed, the President of KKU UiTM at 11.30 am in the presence of representatives of management from Faculty
of Electrical Engineering and the office of the Registrar.
In his speech, the President of KKU stated that
the UiTM’s Penolong Pensyarah scheme is very
unique and is only available in UiTM. JPA also
recognizes this scheme and its unique existence
in UiTM. He hoped that the establishment of
this association can improve job performance
among its members. At the ceremony,
Hamdani Abu Hassan, Penolong Pensyarah
Tertinggi FKE has been appointed as the
President of the Association, which has over
100 members from various faculties and almost
all UiTM campuses.
In his speech, the President of KKU stated that
