West Lake - Ho tay<br />

West Lake, also known as Ho Tay, is <strong>Hanoi</strong>’s largest<br />

lake. Many restaurants can be found in the area as<br />

well as some of <strong>Hanoi</strong>’s oldest pagodas. Tran Quoc<br />

Pagoda, situated on an island, is the oldest Buddhist<br />

temple in <strong>Hanoi</strong> and dates back to the 6th century.<br />

Quán Thánh Temple is a Taoist temple from the 11th<br />

century. It is allso a great place for an evening stroll<br />

The Temple of Literature<br />

Temple of Literature or Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám was<br />

constructed in 1070 under Ly Thanh Tong’s dynasty,<br />

first to honor Confucius and nowadays to celebrate the<br />

doctorates and high rank scholars of Vietnam. In 1076,<br />

King Ly Nhan Tong continued the work and built Quoc<br />

Tu Giam as the first university of Vietnam.<br />
