The maximum range of lowering offer the KW Street Performance 

coilover kits, which are made in stainless steel technology „inoxline“, 

and are available in three damping variants: Variant 1 factory 

adjusted in sporty-harmonic damper characteristic. Variant 2 offers 

the experienced sport driver the possibility besides the individual 

lowering to influence the pitch and roll behaviour of his automobile 

with the adjustable rebound damping. Variant 3 allows an independent 

from each other, in rebound and compression configurable 

damper setup for the perfect vehicle adaption.

The headquarters of KW automotive in 

Fichtenberg excels in flexibility and modernity. 

What started out as a small team of three employees working on a 

plant area of 150 sqm is today an internationally operative group 

of companies for innovative suspension systems. KW today employs more 

than 220 employees at several subsidiaries worldwide. The headquarters 

has a plant area exceeding 23.000 sqm. In 2012, the delivery programme 

covers more than 4.600 applications. Many construction steps made KW 

to one of the most modern production centres for innovative suspension 

solutions in Europe. R&D, production, sales and logistics are centred at 

the headquarters in Fichtenberg. Short ways, optimized processes and

Innovation, permanent developments and latest technologies

headquarters of Fichtenberg, Germany is the research and development. 

More than 18 employees are working permanently on 

new suspension and damping solutions as well as the continuously 

further development of existing products. All components pass 

a series of comprehensive testing procedures to meet the highest 

quality standards. In 2006 an ultra-modern 7post rig has been installed. 

KW now utilizes this leading edge technology to design 

and test KW’s performance street line of coilovers in a controlled 

environment. Outfit with the latest in CNC manufacturing equipment, 

our in-house manufacturing facilities offer our customers 

fast and flexible service that guarantee results. Product assembly 

is coordinated across individual specialty stations where our experienced 

team members ensure the highest industry standards are 

followed. From prototypes to series line production, our assembly 

team reacts quickly and efficiently to meet our customers needs. 

All departments are working hand-in-hand, thus guaranteeing a 

maximum of efficiency. All important R&D processes are managed

The race suspension program KW Competition has been 

developed for national and international motorsport. 

Racing kits 2A 2-way adjustable 

Our KW 2-way adjustable shock absorber is based on the twin tube damping design. The rebound and compression 

damping is independently adjustable at the end of the piston rod and the lower end of the damper 

housing. The KW 2-way damping system enables us to equip race cars, prototype cars, and exotic custom cars 

with a high-class, custom-made damping solution. Our KW 2-way dampers can be installed with a maximum 

inclination of 45°. Remote reservoirs filled with gas are used for inclination or horizontal mounting. 

Racing kits 3A 3-way adjustable 

Our 3-way adjustable racing shock absorber represents the latest solution in mono-tube technology. 

Featuring separate reservoirs, the system is designed to be used in professional Motorsport.

KW has a perfectly tuned suspension for every purpose and vehicle 

type, whether you‘re seeking comfort, athleticism or excellent performance. 

We can achieve the challenging goals we set ourselves thanks 

to our innovative, patented KW technology as well as our rebound and 

compression damping systems which can be adjusted independently 

of one another. We are not using either mono-tube or twin-tube technology, 

but a combination of both in order to use technical advantages 


Separate valve technology for compression and rebound 

damping for the perfect setup and influence of body 

movement and driving dynamics 

Pre-assembled suspension including all components, 

vehicle specific certificates and detailed 

installation instruction 

of each system. Depending on the installation position and the requirements, 

KW utilises the corresponding damping technology to deliver the 

best performance for the application in question. In order to guarantee 

optimal and individual tuning as well as suitability for everyday use, for 

our Version3, we avail of the advantages of twin-tube technology, the 

separate arrangement and adjustment of the valves in the compression 

and rebound stages. In addition, a pressure compensation container is

used in special applications. In this way, KW can perfectly 

combine the benefits of both mono-tube and twin-tube 

technology. The valves which can be adjusted separately 

and function independently of one another allow greater 

opportunity for shaping the car‘s damping characteristics 

and are indispensable for optimum performance and driving 

dynamics. This technology is what defines our tuning 

philosophy. For example, we deliberately try to control both 

wheel and body acceleration from the outset using lowspeed 

compression damping and, in doing so, place great 

emphasis on fine-tuning with the aid of complex valve 

technology. Our patented foot valve for example allows 

the customer to fine tune the ever so important low-speed 

compression damping across a wide, highly-efficient range 

without negatively impacting upon the high-speed 

compression damping values so crucial from the point of 

view of comfort. The application of this two-phase compression 

valve technology means that two usually incompatible 

characteristics, i.e. sportiness and driving comfort, 

can be reconciled in a unique way. KW‘s Version 3 coilover 

suspensions have always incorporated this technology. An 

optimal basic set-up, neutral in terms of athleticism, is supplied 

from the factory. In addition, this separate tuning means 

that the damper set-up can be adapted to match the 

driver‘s preferences or indeed to match changes in the vehicle 

in terms of weight, tyre characteristics or the rigidity of 

the vehicle body. Only through this individual tuning of the 

compression and rebound damping can performance really 

be improved. For example, the compression damping 

force can be increased in order to command better grip 

from the tyres or to improve steering – and all this without 

changing the rebound damping, which is ideally suited to 

the spring rate. Otherwise, a performance loss in terms of 

reduced grip would ensue.

The system is intended for the experienced driver who requires to not only determine the individual lowering of their vehicle, but 

also to be able to adjust the damper setting to fine tune the system to their needs. The individually adjustable rebound dampening

KW Clubsport – Coilover kits with track 

day setup for cars using semi slick tires. 

Clubsport was developed for customers, who demand a better 

KW handling car when participating in track day events, but also require 

an official road approval to use their car every day. The setup was 

specifically designed for the Nordschleife using track day tires. By using the 

optional available adjustable top mounts, the suspension geometry can be 

adjusted to the requirements of tires and the intended use. The mentioned 

adjustment options combined with the independently adjustable rebound 

and compression damping technology allow individual setup adjustments 

according to the vehicle load, tire characteristics and different track conditions.

KW DDC Coilovers – 

Individuality by the push of a button. 

DDC coilover kit stands for Dynamic Damping Control in 

KW combination with a proven KW coilover kit in stainless steel 

technology inox-line. The KW DDC coilover kit allows an individual lowering 

and three different damper setups by the push of a button for an easy 

adaptation to the respective road conditions. It can be chosen between 

a basic setup for sporty driving on normal roads, a comfortable setup 

for un-even/poor road surfaces and the extra sporty setup for maximum 

driving dynamics on well-maintained roads and race tracks. The different 

damper settings will be controlled electronically with a proportional valve 

that regulates the flow of oil in the damper in milliseconds. The KW DDC 

coilover kit is available as „DDC Plug & Play“ solution for VW cars with 

standard electronic damping control for an easy replacement of the series 

dampers. With the KW DDC coilover kit „DDC ECU“ an electronic damping 

control system can be upgraded, which also may optionally be controlled 

and programmed via an app.

KW DDC Coilover kit „Plug & Play“ 

KW DDC Coilover kit „DDC ECU“ 

The Plug & Play solution of the KW DDC (Dynamic Damping 

Control) coilover kit was developed for VW models, which have 

a standard Electronic Damper Control (VW DCC). The standard 

dampers can easily be replaced by the KW DDC coilover kit. The 

existing control unit and the interior switch that was installed for 

the operation of the damper control will be kept. For the first time 

the KW DDC coilover kit combines the advantages of a KW coilover 

kit and the comfort of standard damper control. By pushing a button, the driver can choose 

between Comfort-, Normal- and Sport-setup. Also the KW coilover kit allows an individual lowering in 

the TÜV-tested adjustment range. 

The KW DDC (Dynamic Damping Control) coilover kit with ECU (Electronic Control Unit) was developed 

for individual lowering and installation of an electronic damping control system. The scope of delivery 

contains a KW inox-line coilover kit with electronically controlled dampers, a high-performance 

control unit, the car specific cable set with control switch and a detailed manual for an easy installation. 

The KW DDC coilover kit has three car specific developed damper settings. By the push of a button 

the driver can choose between the sport basic setup, a very sporty and performance-oriented Sport+ 

setup and the comfort mode for un-even/poor road surfaces. The height adjustment of KW coilover 

kits also allow an individual lowering within the TÜV-tested adjustment range. 

KW „DDC App“ (only for DDC ECU) 

Optional for KW DDC ECU solutions available damping control for iPhone, iPod or iPad. With the DDC app you can 

also save up to five own individual setups programmed by yourself and share them with your friends via e-mail. A 

variable damper setting of 0% (maximum comfort) up to 100% (maximum Sport+), as well as the separate damper 

setting for front and rear axle is possible and will be transmitted via iPhone within milliseconds to the dampers. For the communication 

between iPhone and KW DDC control unit, a KW DDC W-LAN module is required.

KW Hydraulic Lift System – clear obstacles more easily. 

The HLS Lift Kit provides additional road clearance for lowered vehicles. When expanded, a range of up to 45 mm of lift is produced, 

thereby helping sport cars avoid road clearance difficulties such as speed bumps, road construction, etc. The HLS Lift Kit is available as 

vehicle specific solution or individual conversion kit depending on the car model. 

The HLS Lift Kit is available in two different versions: HLS 2 which is fitted to the front axle and HLS 4 which can be attached to the front and 

rear axle and allows lifting the entire vehicle. The hydraulic cylinder unit is located on the coilover body between spring perch and spring. 

The advantage of a hydraulic system is that there is no compression (motion) of the extended cylinder unit (resulting in no unwanted 

additional suspension movement) while driving.

Individual height adjustability of the serial suspension kit. 

The KW Coilover Spring Kit is used for lowering the vehicle in combination with the 

serial dampers, even when electronic damper control is installed. This lowering 

solution from KW optimises the dynamic performance and the steering behaviour 

without the electronic damper control deactivated. For this solution vehicle specific 

adjustable spring seats with adjusted KW lowering springs and the matching elastomer 

as well as the dust cover system will be used. This complete conversion allows an

KW Sport Shock Absorbers meet all claims of a modern high-performance 

damping system. All KW sport shock absorbers are specially developed 

with a sportive damping setting for road-use. KW engineers are using all 

their knowledge from suspension development and motorsport to find a 

perfect setting during extensive road testings. The twin-tube shock absorbers 

with low gas pressure are equipped with hardened, chrome-plated 

piston rods and offer ideal protection against stone chips and corrosion. A 

new innovative monoblock rod guide and seal system raise the pressure 

resistance, reduce the friction and enhance the capability. The new working 

piston with V-shaped Teflon seals reduce the friction losses to a minimum 

and ensure a high temperature-resistant and long-lasting damping 

system. All KW sport shock absorbers are equipped with a rebound (shortened 

stroke), assure optimum bore-stroke ratio and arrange pre-stressed 

springs. A big part of the rear axle shock absorbers is equipped with spring 

plates which are height adjustable by slots. This enables to vary the car 

height in 5 additional positions.
