Afterwork Networking Wednesdays at Trelawni Place By Toni Johnson Brooklyn, NY ‒ Close to fifty business owners, entrepreneurs, artistes, artisans, community organizers and concerned residents, participated in last week’s monthly Afterwork Networking Wednesdays’ (ANW) session, held at Trelawnie Place Seafood Bar and Grill, 1440 Utica Avenue in Brooklyn. The ANW session, is held on the last Wednesday of every month and is co-hosted by the “dynamic trio” Edmund Sadio of Century 21 Achievers, Gerry Hopkin of Hopkins Consulting Group LLC and Cheryl Vincent, RN, a Recording Artiste of Cheryl V Music LLC. Following the conclusion of the event, founder and co-host, Edmund Sadio, noted that after being in real estate for 27 years, his experience has taught him the importance of supporting “our own,” meaning Caribbean businesses. He said it is for this reason that the space at Trelawni Place, was identified for this monthly networking event, which facilitates the further growth of established entities and the development of new businesses. He also referred to the near instant exchange of business information and resources among participants, which takes place at each Networking session. He also noted that this is one of the several success stories of the event. Co-host Gerry Hopkin, stated that “Afterwork Networking Wednesdays’ sessions are a forum that brings together established business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, investors, community leaders and concerned residents, to share intelligence, support each other and engender small business growth in Brooklyn and beyond.” Hopkin highlighted that many of the hundreds who have “attended sessions since this initiative was launched over a year ago, have reported having scored dividends with the contacts made. He further noted that format used includes an opening segment which allows all present to introduce themselves and/or their entities, followed by a featured guest or guests, who would speak on a topic relevant Caribbean kinetic artist, Guy Beckles and recording artistes, Cheryl Vincent, Ameena Caesar and Bomani. to the optimization of small business development. “Featured guests generally share tips on best practices, budgeting and sourcing of finance, based primarily on their own experience, to the benefit of attendees,” added Hopkin. The main featured guest at the instant session was a young female entrepreneur, Tawana Sophie St. Paul, the managing director of All Access Transportation Group Inc.
