The door of hope and mercy by which men had<br />

for 1800 years found access to God was closed at<br />

<strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> 2300 days, but ano<strong>the</strong>r door was<br />

opened. This door led into <strong>the</strong> very presence of <strong>the</strong><br />

glory of God and <strong>the</strong> grand final blotting out of sin<br />

in <strong>the</strong> most holy place. Sin cannot abide in His<br />

presence, which is a consuming fire. The High<br />

Priest opened this door and "no man can shut it."<br />

But <strong>the</strong> Jews who refused to enter <strong>the</strong> first door at<br />

His ascension were left in total darkness. "That<br />

door by which men had formerly found access to<br />

God, was no longer open." The Jews refused to<br />

seek Him in <strong>the</strong> only way whereby He could be<br />

found.<br />

As Adventists approach <strong>the</strong> splendor of <strong>the</strong><br />

most holy place <strong>the</strong>y move toward a crisis. If we<br />

cling to <strong>the</strong> typical nature of Evangelical orthodoxy<br />

and are content with <strong>the</strong> routine substitutionary<br />

gospel of forensic, legal justification, we too will<br />

find ourselves rejecting <strong>the</strong> final work of <strong>the</strong> High<br />
