We know exactly how many cubits long and how<br />

many cubits wide <strong>the</strong> structure was. We know <strong>the</strong><br />

color of <strong>the</strong> curtains, <strong>the</strong> height of <strong>the</strong> walls, <strong>the</strong><br />

glory of <strong>the</strong> ceiling, <strong>the</strong> splendor of <strong>the</strong> ark overlaid<br />

with gold. We know about <strong>the</strong> shovels, <strong>the</strong> basins,<br />

<strong>the</strong> fleshhooks, <strong>the</strong> firepans. But <strong>the</strong> question is, do<br />

we understand God's purpose in giving <strong>the</strong><br />

tabernacle service to His people? Does <strong>the</strong> remnant<br />

comprehend <strong>the</strong> irreconcilable conflict between sin<br />

and righteousness which is displayed in <strong>the</strong><br />

sanctuary service? Do <strong>the</strong> words of <strong>the</strong> true Lamb<br />

mean very much to us, when He said, "I came not<br />

to call <strong>the</strong> righteous, but sinners" (Luke 5:32)?<br />

We need to see that it was people, human<br />

beings like ourselves, that held <strong>the</strong> interest of God<br />

and His Son. The entire human race provided a<br />

reason for <strong>the</strong> sanctuary service, for all are sinners.<br />

Israel of old needed to understand this and this is<br />

<strong>the</strong> need of modern Israel, for we too have<br />

confused "acts" with basic sin. Along with our<br />

spiritual ancestors we are burdened with old<br />

covenant concepts. The service God gave was<br />

concerned with <strong>the</strong> "blotting out" of sin and this<br />
