The Cleansing of <strong>the</strong><br />
"True Tabernacle"<br />
As a people we have been content to see in <strong>the</strong><br />
prophecies <strong>the</strong> sum total of our place in <strong>the</strong><br />
Christian world. Once we became a "church" we<br />
were able to carve out a niche for ourselves and<br />
overcome those less skilled in <strong>the</strong> scriptures, and<br />
this has become our "ego" stronghold.<br />
But this intellectual strength has in it <strong>the</strong> seeds<br />
of defeat, for <strong>the</strong> "time of trouble" must ultimately<br />
involve a confrontation with "self" that "<strong>the</strong> man of<br />
sin" might be revealed. For this reason <strong>the</strong> last<br />
conflict of <strong>the</strong> people of God, just before Christ's<br />
second coming, has been compared to Jacob's<br />
experience. Through humiliation, repentance, and<br />
self-surrender, this sinful erring mortal prevailed<br />
with <strong>the</strong> Majesty of heaven and <strong>the</strong> supplanter<br />
became a prince with God. In <strong>the</strong> audience<br />
chamber of <strong>the</strong> Most High he became a victor. His<br />
