divine one. But by <strong>the</strong> incarnation of <strong>the</strong> Son of<br />

God, <strong>the</strong> purpose of Heaven is fulfilled. God<br />

dwells in humanity, and through saving grace <strong>the</strong><br />

heart of man becomes again His temple. . . . In<br />

cleansing <strong>the</strong> temple from <strong>the</strong> world's buyers and<br />

sellers, Jesus announced His mission to cleanse <strong>the</strong><br />

heart from <strong>the</strong> defilement of sin.<br />

Had man not agreed to sin, <strong>the</strong>re would have<br />

been no need for a temple in <strong>the</strong> days of Israel.<br />

Man as he was created would have continued to be<br />

<strong>the</strong> temple of God and <strong>the</strong> communion would never<br />

have been broken. There would have been no need<br />

for a mediator. With special force this tells us who<br />

have <strong>the</strong> sanctuary/judgment truth, that when <strong>the</strong><br />

"heart of man becomes again His temple," <strong>the</strong> need<br />

for a mediator will cease. Substitution will be at an<br />

end for substitution and perfection cannot tolerate<br />

each o<strong>the</strong>r. The confrontation with "self" in <strong>the</strong><br />

light of <strong>the</strong> cross will have removed <strong>the</strong> excuse to<br />

kill God. The depravity of <strong>the</strong> human heart will be<br />

exposed and man will be willing to take his place<br />

on <strong>the</strong> cross with Christ. It was <strong>the</strong> removal of <strong>the</strong><br />
