Special Reporting Codes and Duty Assignment
14–1. College trainee (09D)
This code (09D00) will be used to report and identify soldiers
undergoing training in a college, university technical institute, or
similar institution of higher learning.
14–2. Commissioned officer candidate (09S)
This code (09S00) will be used as primary and duty MOS to report
and identify soldiers undergoing training in an officer candidate
school, or similar training facility that upon successful completion
will result in appointment as an officer. If such training does not
result in appointment, the code will be withdrawn and previously

designed PMOS will be reported, unless other reclassification per
AR 600-200 is appropriate.
14–3. Warrant officer candidate (09W)
This code (09W00) will be used as primary and duty MOS to report
and identify soldiers specifically selected for or undergoing training
in a warrant officer MOS producing course, or similar training that
on completion will result in appointment as warrant officer. If such
training does not result in appointment, the code will be withdrawn
a n d p r e v i o u s l y d e s i g n a t e d P M O S w i l l b e r e p o r t e d u n l e s s o t h e r
reclassification per AR 600-200 is appropriate.
14–4. College student officer program (CSOP) Army
National Guard (09T) Reserve Components Reporting
Code
This code (09T00) will be used as primary and duty MOS to report
and identify ARNG personnel attending non-ROTC colleges who
have enlisted in the ARNG for the specific purpose of attending a
State Officer Candidate School. This code will be withdrawn on
successful completion of or withdrawal from the CSOP. This code
is for use in identification of ARNG personnel only.
14–5. Simultaneous Membership Program Participant
(09R) Reserve Components Reporting Code
This code (09R00) will be used as primary and duty MOS to report
and identify USAR/ARNG individual while enrolled in ROTC Advanced
Course or scheduled for such enrollment. The code will be
withdrawn on successful completion of or withdrawal from the
SMP. This code is for use in identification of USAR/ARNG personnel
only.
14–6. Special duty assignment (00D)
a. This code (00DOO) will be used to identify approved special
d u t y a s s i g n m e n t p o s i t i o n s i n o r g a n i z a t i o n a l a u t h o r i z a t i o n d o c u -
ments, and to report the duty MOS for soldiers assigned to these
positions. Authorization documents will not be identified with MOS
00D prior to approval by HQDA, PERSCOM (TAPC-PI). Special
duty positions must meet the following criteria:
(1) Duties require unique civilian skills/education or componentunique
experience not classified as an identifier elsewhere in this
regulation.
(2) Skills and knowledge cannot normally be acquired from other
duty positions in other military organizations.
(3) Service school course, resident or non-resident, are neither
available nor practical for training personnel to perform the required
duties.
(4) Number of positions involved are too small to warrant establishment
of a new MOS or other occupational identifier.
b. Requests to identify positions with MOS 00D will be forwarded
to the Commander, PERSCOM, ATTN: TAPC-PLC-C, 200
Stovall Street, Alexandria, VA 22332-0406, and will include the
following information:
(1) Unit identification code, command code and document number
of authorization document in which position exists.
(2) Paragraph and line number.
(3) Pay grade.
(4) Number of authorizations.
(5) Job description, including—
(a) Duties.
(b) Minimum skills and knowledge required.
(6) Summary of civilian education/training/experience required to
successfully perform the job.
(7) Explanation of why the job cannot be coded with an existing
Army identifier.
c. Approval will remain valid until mission changes occur or for
3 years, whichever comes first. If the requirement remains valid for
more than 3 years,justification must be resubmitted for HQDA review
and approval.
14–7. Equal opportunity (00U)
This code (00UOO) will be used to identify soldiers in grades MSG
