a. Description of positions. Identifies positions requiring a pilot<br />

qualified in the MH-47E aircraft.<br />

b. Qualifications. Individuals must successfully complete qualification<br />

<strong>and</strong> certification training in the MH-74E aircraft, be accepted by an <strong>Army</strong><br />

Special Operations Aviation (ARSOA) unit, completed ARSOA training,<br />

<strong>and</strong> successfully completed 1 year of duty in an ARSOA assignment.<br />

Individual must be recommended for the SI by an ARSOA comm<strong>and</strong>er in<br />

the officer’s chain of comm<strong>and</strong>. The comm<strong>and</strong>er’s recommendation for<br />

award of si K6 will be forwarded to Comm<strong>and</strong>er, U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Special<br />

Operations Comm<strong>and</strong> (USASOC), Deputy Chief of Staff for Special<br />

Operations Aviation (DCSSOA), ATTN: AOAO-PER, Ft Bragg, NC<br />

b. Qualifications. Requires 3 years experience as a physician assistant<br />

<strong>and</strong> abachelors degree from an accredited college or university, with<br />

additional training in an orthopedic residency designed specifically for<br />

physician assistants.<br />

c. Restrictions. For use with physician assistant AOC 65D only. The<br />

Surgeon General will determine eligibility on a case-by-case basis.<br />

Title: Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant<br />

a. Description of positions. Identifies positions which require special<br />

qualifications in emergency medicine.<br />

b. Qualifications. Requires three years experience as a physician<br />

assistant <strong>and</strong> a bachelors degree from an accredited college or<br />

university, with additional training in an emergency medicine residency<br />

designed specifically for physician assistants.<br />

c. Restrictions. For use with physician assistant AOC 65D only. The<br />

Surgeon General will determine eligibility on a case-by-case basis.<br />

Title: Aviation Medicine Physician Assistant<br />

a. Description of positions. Identifies positions which require special<br />

qualifications in aviation medicine.<br />

b. Qualifications. Requires 3 years experience as a physician assistant<br />

<strong>and</strong> a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university, with<br />

completion of the Aviation Medicine Basic Course at Fort Rucker, AL.<br />

Title: Critical Care Medicine<br />

Proponent: OTSG<br />

a. Description of positions. Identifies positions which require special<br />

qualifications in managing, evaluating <strong>and</strong> integrating the care of<br />

critically ill patients with complex illness or injury, including multi–system<br />

organ failure. Physicians will support aeromedical evacuation <strong>and</strong> in<br />

theater resuscitation <strong>and</strong>stabilization, as well as participate in disaster<br />

relief.<br />

b. Qualifications. As a minimum, officers will be certified in AOC 60N<br />

(Anesthesiologist, 61F (Internist), <strong>and</strong> 61J (General Surgeon) <strong>and</strong> have<br />

successfully completed at least 1 year critical care medicine fellowship,<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or be Board eligible or Board certified in Critical Care Medicine.<br />

c. Restrictions. For use in TDA only with AOC 60N, 61F, <strong>and</strong> 61J. The<br />

Surgeon General will determine eligibility on a case by case basis.<br />

Code: M5<br />

Title: Emergency Nursing<br />

Proponent: OTSG<br />

a. Description of positions. Identifies positions requiring special<br />

qualifications in emergency nursing practice.<br />

b. Qualifications. <strong>Army</strong> Nurse Corps officers who have completed one<br />

of the following:<br />

(1) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Care<br />

Course or Combat Trauma Nurse Course, Pediatric Advanced Life<br />

Support or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course. Verification of Basic<br />

Competencies (will be annotated on the Verification of <strong>Army</strong> Nurse<br />

Corps Clinical Competencies - Emergency Nursing Skill Identifier DA<br />

Form 7373-R (Test) (Verification of <strong>Army</strong> Nurse Corps Clinical<br />

Competencies Emergency Nursing Skill Identifier) by the officer’s<br />

supervisor, in accordance with HQDA Ltr 40-97-1, Quality Assurance<br />

Administration, <strong>and</strong> 1,500 hours of emergency nursing clinical practice<br />

over the past 3 years.<br />

(2) ACLS, certification in emergency nursing sponsored by the<br />

Emergency Nurses Association, <strong>and</strong> verification of the Basic<br />

Competencies (see b(1)).<br />

(3) ACLS, verification of the Basic Competencies (see b(1)), <strong>and</strong> 2000<br />

hours of emergency nursing clinical practice over the past 2 years.<br />

(4) ACLS, verification of the Basic Competencies (see b(1)), completion<br />

of a 2 week, minimum 80 hour, emergency nursing course, in<br />

conjunction with an additional 320 hours in emergency nursing practice<br />

over an 18 month period.<br />

c. Restrictions. For use with <strong>Army</strong> Nurse Corps AOC 66H.<br />

The following tables provide the authorized abbreviations, st<strong>and</strong>ards<br />

of grade (SG) for Table of Distribution <strong>and</strong> Allowances (TDA),<br />

modified (MTOE)/TOE), battalion level <strong>and</strong> medical grades.
