(1) Description of duties. Plans, establishes, directs <strong>and</strong> supervises<br />

health delivery activities within military units authorized a<br />

surgeon, or within research <strong>and</strong> development, test <strong>and</strong> evaluation<br />

activities concerned with medical aspects of military operations.<br />

Comm<strong>and</strong>s medical unit or installation engaged in furnishing medical<br />

care to sick, injured, or wounded personnel.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must be able to perform duties described<br />

above <strong>and</strong> must have had postgraduate training or experience<br />

in fields of public health, health care administration, personnel<br />

administration, or in medical education administration.<br />

d. Nuclear Medicine Officer (60B).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Plans, conducts, interprets, <strong>and</strong> directs<br />

nuclear medical examinations <strong>and</strong> therapy including systemic administration<br />

of ionizing radiation, patient care, <strong>and</strong> activities conc<br />

e r n e d w i t h t h e m e d i c a l a s p e c t s o f n u c l e a r e n e r g y a n d<br />

bionucleonics.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the Office of The Surgeon<br />

General (OTSG).<br />

(3) Special grading of positions.<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

e. Preventive Medicine Officer (60C).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Determines status of, <strong>and</strong> conditions<br />

influencing health of military <strong>and</strong> appropriate civilian personnel;<br />

formulates <strong>and</strong> recommends measures for health improvements; <strong>and</strong><br />

plans, coordinates, <strong>and</strong> directs a program designed to maintain health,<br />

improve physical fitness <strong>and</strong> prevent disease <strong>and</strong> injury.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have Specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions.<br />

(a) Preventive Medicine Section of Hq & Co A of Medical Battalion,<br />

Air Assault Division (MAJ).<br />

(b) Chief, Epidemiology Section in the Theater <strong>Army</strong> Medical<br />

Laboratory (TAML)(MAJ).<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

f. <strong>Occupational</strong> Medicine Officer (60D).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Plans, directs <strong>and</strong> supervises occupational<br />

health programs for Department of <strong>Army</strong> civilian <strong>and</strong> military<br />

personnel.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

g. Pulmonary Disease Officer (60F).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or recommends<br />

course of therapy for adult patients, with particular emphasis<br />

on diseases of the respiratory system <strong>and</strong> tuberculosis.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

h. Gastroenterologist (60G).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or recommends<br />

course of treatment for patients, with particular emphasis<br />

on disorders of the gastroenterological system.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

i. Cardiologist (60H).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or recommends,<br />

course of treatment or therapy for patients, with particular<br />

emphasis on disorders of the cardiovascular system.<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

j. Obstetrician <strong>and</strong> Gynecologist (60J).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Provides medical care during pregnancy,<br />

performs obstetric deliveries, <strong>and</strong> examines, diagnoses <strong>and</strong> treats<br />

or prescribes course of treatment for patients who have gynecological<br />

disease, injury or disorder.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

k. Urologist (60K).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or prescribes<br />

course of treatment or surgery for patients having disease,<br />

injury, or disorder of genito-urinary tract, <strong>and</strong> performs required<br />

surgery.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

(4) Unique duty positions. None.<br />

l. Dermatologist (60L).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or prescribes<br />

course of treatment for patients having diseases of the skin.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions.<br />

m. Allergist, Clinical Immunologist (60M).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or recommends<br />

course of treatment for diseases with particular emphasis<br />

on conditions of allergic or immunologic origin.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

n. Anesthesiologist (60N).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Administers or supervises administration<br />

of anesthetics to patients.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

o. Pediatrician (60P).<br />

p. Pediatric Cardiologist (60Q).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or recommends<br />

or prescribes course of therapy for children, with particular<br />

emphasis on disorders of the cardiovascular system.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

q. Child Neurologist (60R).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats <strong>and</strong><br />

directs management of infants <strong>and</strong> children suffering from organic<br />

disorders, injuries, <strong>and</strong> diseases of the central nervous system.<br />

(2) Special qualifications. Must have specialty training in this<br />

field at a level that is recognized by the OTSG.<br />

(3) Special grading of positions. None.<br />

r. Ophthalmologist (60S).<br />

(1) Description of duties. Examines, diagnoses, <strong>and</strong> treats or prescribes<br />

course of treatment for personnel suffering from diseases,<br />

injuries, or disorders of eyes, <strong>and</strong> performs surgery when required.<br />
