(5) MOSC 98G5L. Performs duties shown in preceding skill level<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Supervises immediate<br />

subordinates in SIGINT operations <strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong> intelligence procedures.<br />

Coordinates tactical <strong>and</strong> strategic SIGINT voice collection<br />

operations <strong>and</strong> provides appraisals of intelligence products, activities<br />

<strong>and</strong> operations. Develops unit intelligence training strategy.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Electronic warfare/signal intelligence voice interceptors must<br />

possess the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222121.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) Pass a phonetic sound discrimination test.<br />

(5) A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area ST.<br />

(6) The soldier must meet TOP SECRET security clearance <strong>and</strong><br />

S e n s i t i v e C o m p a r t m e n t e d I n f o r m a t i o n ( S C I ) a c c e s s e l i g i b i l i t y<br />

requirements.<br />

(7) A high school graduate or equivalent.<br />

(8) A qualifying score on the Defense Language Aptitude Battery<br />

(DLAB) as prescribed by AR 611-6.<br />

(9) Meet hearing acuity test st<strong>and</strong>ards per AR 40-501.<br />

(10) Never been a member of the U.S. Peace Corps, except as<br />

specified in AR 614-200, chapter 1.<br />

(11) No information in military personnel, Provost Marshal, intelligence,<br />

or medical records which would prevent the granting of a<br />

security clearance under AR 380-67.<br />

(12) No record of conviction by court-martial.<br />

(13) No record of conviction by civil court for any offense other<br />

than minor traffic violations.<br />

(14) The soldier must be a U.S. citizen.<br />

(15) Soldier <strong>and</strong> spouse must not have immediate family members<br />

who reside in a country within whose boundaries physical or<br />

mental coercion is known to be common practice, either against-<br />

(a) Persons accused of or acting in the interest of the U.S. or<br />

(b) The relatives of such persons to whom they may reasonably<br />

be considered to be bound by ties of affection, kinship, or obligation.<br />

Near relatives will also include uncles, aunts, gr<strong>and</strong>parents,<br />

father-in-law, mother-in-law, <strong>and</strong> relationships corresponding to any<br />

of the above persons in loco parentis (AR 630-5, para 6-2b).<br />

(16) Have neither commercial nor vested interest in a country<br />

within whose boundaries physical or mental coercion is known to be<br />

a common practice against persons acting in the interest of the U.S.<br />

This requirement applies to the soldier’s spouse as well.<br />

(17) Meet career management <strong>and</strong> development criteria contained<br />

in AR 614-200.<br />

(18) Formal training (completion of MOS 98G course under the<br />

auspices of U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Intelligence Center) m<strong>and</strong>atory. Must also<br />

complete formal language training or meet the civilian acquired<br />

skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.<br />

(19) Be advised that due to the nature of training <strong>and</strong> assignments,<br />

temporary restrictions may be placed on foreign travel both<br />

during <strong>and</strong> after the term of service.<br />

a . M a j o r d u t i e s . T h e c o m m u n i c a t i o n s l o c a t o r / i n t e r c e p t o r p e r -<br />

forms <strong>and</strong> supervises detection, acquisition, identification, exploitation<br />

<strong>and</strong> location of foreign communications employing international<br />

Morse code (IMC) <strong>and</strong> radio-printer (non-Morse) using signals intelligence/electronic<br />

warfare (SIGINT/EW) collection <strong>and</strong> location<br />

equipment. Performs collection management. Duties for MOS 98H<br />

at each skill level are:<br />

(1) MOSC 98H1O. Operates SIGINT/EW equipment to detect,<br />

acquire, identify, locate, <strong>and</strong> exploit foreign communications devices<br />

transmitting Morse <strong>and</strong> non-Morse signals. Provides processing<br />

<strong>and</strong> reporting of intercepted communications.<br />

( 2 ) M O S C 9 8 H 2 O . P e r f o r m s d u t i e s s h o w n i n p r e c e d i n g s k i l l<br />

level <strong>and</strong> provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Performs collection<br />

management functions in support of collection operations.<br />

Quality controls processing <strong>and</strong> reporting procedures.<br />

( 3 ) M O S C 9 8 H 3 O . P e r f o r m s d u t i e s s h o w n i n p r e c e d i n g s k i l l<br />

level <strong>and</strong> provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Evaluates mission<br />

taskings <strong>and</strong> assists in formulating collection plans. Supervises<br />

p r o c e s s i n g a n d r e p o r t i n g . S u p e r v i s e s c o l l e c t i o n m a n a g e m e n t<br />

process.<br />

( 4 ) M O S C 9 8 H 4 O . P e r f o r m s d u t i e s s h o w n i n p r e c e d i n g s k i l l<br />

level <strong>and</strong> provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Determines<br />

collection requirements <strong>and</strong> site selection for remote missions. Plans<br />

collection <strong>and</strong> exploitation strategies <strong>and</strong> allocates personnel <strong>and</strong><br />

equipment resources.<br />

(5) MOSC 98H50. Performs duties shown in preceding skill level<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Supervises subordinates<br />

in SIGINT/EW operations comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> intelligence proced<br />

u r e s . C o o r d i n a t e s t a c t i c a l a n d s t r a t e g i c M o r s e a n d n o n - M o r s e<br />

signals collection operations <strong>and</strong> provides appraisals of intelligence<br />

products, activities <strong>and</strong> operations. Develops unit intelligence training<br />

strategy.<br />

MOS. Communications locator/interceptors must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of moderately heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222121.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area ST.<br />

(5) Meet hearing acuity test st<strong>and</strong>ards per AR 40-51.<br />

(6) A qualifying score on the Audio Perception Test.<br />

(7) The soldier must meet TOP SECRET security clearance <strong>and</strong><br />

S e n s i t i v e C o m p a r t m e n t I n f o r m a t i o n ( S C I ) a c c e s s e l i g i b i l i t y<br />

requirements.<br />

(8) A high school graduate or equivalent.<br />

family members can be naturalized citizens. If naturalized,<br />

there is no minimum residency requirement.<br />

(b) Soldier <strong>and</strong> spouse must not have immediate family members<br />

coercion is known to be common practice, either against-<br />
