10–277. 97G—Multidiscipline Counterintelligence<br />

Operator/Analyst (MDCI Analyst), CMF 96<br />

a. Major duties. The multidiscipline counterintelligence analyst<br />

performs <strong>and</strong> supervises analysis of friendly vulnerabilities to human,<br />

signals <strong>and</strong> imagery intelligence collection by Foreign Intelligence<br />

Services (FIS) <strong>and</strong> recommends countermeasures. Performs<br />

<strong>and</strong> supervises counter-signals intelligence data collection <strong>and</strong> analysis,<br />

<strong>and</strong> signal security support in a tactical or strategic environm<br />

e n t . S u p p o r t s s i m u l a t i v e e l e c t r o n i c d e c e p t i o n a n d d e c e p t i o n<br />

operations with C-RISTA <strong>and</strong> OPSEC evaluations. Performs other<br />

MDCI, C-RISTA, <strong>and</strong> OPSEC-related duties. Duties for MOS 97G<br />

at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 97G1O. Maintains the friendly force, <strong>and</strong> FIS threat<br />

MDCI data bases. Performs initial MDCI vulnerability assessment<br />

based upon friendly use of the electromagnetic spectrum. Deploys,<br />

installs, <strong>and</strong> operates counter-SIGINT collection systems in a fixed,<br />

strategic, or tactical operation. Collects data <strong>and</strong> produces transcripts<br />

a n d g r a p h i c r e p r e s e n t a t i o n s , i n c l u d i n g u n i n t e n t i o n a l e m a n a t i o n s ,<br />

based upon friendly use of the electromagnetic spectrum.<br />

(2) MOSC 97G2O. Performs duties shown in preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to lower grade soldiers in<br />

accomplishment of their duties. Develops <strong>and</strong> manages the MDCI<br />

database. Analyzes friendly vulnerabilities to the FIS collection efforts.<br />

Prepares draft MDCI vulnerability assessments <strong>and</strong> recomm<br />

e n d s c o u n t e r m e a s u r e o p t i o n s . S u p e r v i s e s c o u n t e r - S I G I N T<br />

collection team. Supports simulative electronic deception <strong>and</strong> deception<br />

operations with C-RISTA <strong>and</strong> OPSEC evaluations.<br />

(3) MOSC 97G3O. Performs duties shown in preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to lower grade soldiers in<br />

accomplishment of their duties. Performs MDCI analysis <strong>and</strong> related<br />

duties. Writes, edits, publishes <strong>and</strong> disseminates MDCI products <strong>and</strong><br />

reports. Nominates targets for exploitation, neutralization, or destruction.<br />

Supervises counter-SIGINT <strong>and</strong> deception related activities.<br />

Supports OPSEC <strong>and</strong> C-RISTA efforts at all levels.<br />

(4) MOSC 97G4O. Performs duties shown in preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to lower grade soldiers in<br />

accomplishment of their duties. Supervises <strong>and</strong> performs MDCI<br />

analysis <strong>and</strong> counter-SIGINT activities at all levels. Prepares the<br />

M D C I e s t i m a t e . M a n a g e s t h e c o u n t e r m e a s u r e o p t i o n s e f f o r t f o r<br />

communications, cryptographic <strong>and</strong> signal security related functions,<br />

a n d r e c o m m e n d s c o u n t e r m e a s u r e o p t i o n s . T a s k s f r i e n d l y i n t e l l i -<br />

gence collection resources to update the MDCI database. Coordinates<br />

OPSEC, C-RISTA, <strong>and</strong> deception efforts.<br />

(5) MOSC 97G5O. Performs duties shown in preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to lower grade soldiers in<br />

accomplishment of their duties. Develops countermeasure policies,<br />

p l a n s , d o c t r i n e , o p e r a t i n g p r o c e d u r e s , a n d p r o g r a m s . S u p e r v i s e s<br />

countermeasure options effort. Coordinates collection <strong>and</strong> analysis<br />

of <strong>Army</strong> emitters from the developmental to the operational testing<br />

s t a g e s . S u p e r v i s e s M D C I a n a l y s i s , C - S I G I N T , O P S E C , a n d C -<br />

RISTA activities at all echelons.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Mulitdiscipline counterintelligence operator/analyst must possess<br />

the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222121.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) Minimum scores of 95 in aptitude area SC <strong>and</strong> 95 in aptitude<br />

area ST.<br />

(5) The soldier must meet TOP SECRET security clearance <strong>and</strong><br />

S e n s i t i v e C o m p a r t m e n t e d I n f o r m a t i o n ( S C ) a c c e s s e l i g i b i l i t y<br />

requirements.<br />

(6) A high school graduate or equivalent.<br />

(7) Never been a member of the U.S. Peace Corps, except as<br />

specified in AR 614-200, chapter 1.<br />

(8) No information in Provost Marshal, intelligence, military personnel<br />

records jacket, or medical records which would prevent the<br />

granting of a security clearance under AR 380-67.<br />

(9) No record of conviction by court-martial.<br />

(10) No record of conviction by civil court for any offense other<br />

than minor traffic violations.<br />

(11) Pass hearing acuity test on audiometer wherein sound amplitude<br />

must not exceed 15 decibels at frequencies 250, 500, 1000,<br />

2000, <strong>and</strong> 4000 CPS (HZ).<br />

(12) Have neither commercial nor vested interest in a country<br />

within whose boundaries physical or mental coercion is known to be<br />

a common practice against persons acting in the interest of the U.S..<br />

This requirement applies to the soldier’s spouse as well.<br />

(13) The soldier must be a U.S. citizen.<br />

(a) Soldier <strong>and</strong> spouse must not have immediate family members<br />

who reside in a country within whose boundaries physical or mental<br />

coercion is known to be a common practice, either against—<br />

(b) Persons accused of or acting in the interest of the U.S..<br />

(c) The relatives of such persons to whom they may reasonably<br />

be considered to be bound by ties of affection, kinship, or obligation.<br />

Near relatives will also include uncles, aunts, gr<strong>and</strong>parents,<br />

father-in-law, mother-in-law, <strong>and</strong> relationships corresponding to any<br />

of the above persons in loco parentis (AR 630-5, para 6-2b).<br />

(14) Meet career management <strong>and</strong> development criteria contained<br />

in AR 614-200.<br />

(15) Complete m<strong>and</strong>atory formal training.<br />

c. Additional skill identifiers.<br />

(1) P5—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

(2) 2S—Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 <strong>and</strong> above).<br />

(3) 4A—Reclassification Training.<br />

d. Physical requirements <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards of grade. Physical requirements<br />

<strong>and</strong> SG relating to each skill level are listed in the<br />

following tables:<br />

2–278. 97L—Translator/Interpreter (Reserve Components),<br />

CMF 96<br />

a. Major duties. Prepares, edits <strong>and</strong> supervises translations <strong>and</strong><br />

conducts interpretations in English <strong>and</strong> foreign languages. The duties<br />

at each skill level for MOS 97L are:<br />

(1) MOSC 97L1O. Prepares translations of non-technical foreign<br />

language material. Prepares non-technical translations into the foreign<br />

language. Performs sight translations from a foreign language<br />

into English.<br />

(2) MOSC 97L2O. Performs translation <strong>and</strong> interpreter duties.<br />

(3) MOSC 97L3O. Provides translation <strong>and</strong> interpretations for<br />

complex, high-level proceedings.<br />

( 4 ) M O S C 9 7 L 4 O . P e r f o r m s s e n i o r t r a n s l a t o r a n d i n t e r p r e t e r<br />

functions <strong>and</strong> supervises language maintenance at the team <strong>and</strong><br />

platoon levels.<br />

( 5 ) M O S C 9 7 L 5 O . P e r f o r m s c h i e f t r a n s l a t o r a n d i n t e r p r e t e r<br />

functions.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualification for initial award of<br />

M O S . T r a n s l a t o r / i n t e r p r e t e r m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical rating of medium.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A qualifying score of 95 in aptitude are ST.<br />

(5) A security clearance of SECRET.<br />

(6) Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) comprehension<br />

rating of at least L2-R2 in a foreign language.<br />

(7) Must have a basic underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the geographic, social,<br />

cultural, economic, <strong>and</strong> political conditions of the foreign country,<br />

area or force of his/her language.<br />

(8) Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Post secondary<br />

language study or the equivalent such as extended residence or<br />

exposure to the target language is desired.<br />

(9) Good voice quality <strong>and</strong> ability to speak English <strong>and</strong> foreign
