b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of
MOS. Imagery analysts must possess the following qualifications:
(1) A physical demands rating of medium.
(2) A physical profile of 222211.
(3) Normal color vision.
( 4 ) N e a r v i s i o n c o r r e c t a b l e t o a p p r o x i m a t e l y 1 4 / 1 4 ( i n c h e s )
standard Snellen, distance vision correctable to 20/20 (inches) standa
r d S n e l l e n a n d n o r m a l s t e r e o s c o p i c a c u i t y , w i t h o r w i t h o u t
correction.
(5) Never been a member of the U.S. Peace Corps, except as
specified in AR 614-200, chapter 1.
(6) No information in military personnel, Provost Marshal, intelligence,
or medical record which would prevent the granting of a
security clearance under AR 380-67.
(7) A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area ST.
(8) The soldier must meet TOP SECRET security clearance and
S e n s i t i v e C o m p a r t m e n t e d I n f o r m a t i o n ( S C I ) a c c e s s e l i g i b i l i t y
requirements.
(9) The soldier must be a U.S. citizen.
( a ) M e m b e r s o f i m m e d i a t e f a m i l y ( s p o u s e , p a r e n t s , b r o t h e r s ,
sisters, and children) must also be U.S. citizens. Soldier and immediate
family members can be naturalized citizens. If naturalized,
there is no minimum residency requirements.
(b) Soldier and spouse must not have immediate family members
who reside in a country within whose boundaries physical or mental
coercion is known to be common practice, either against—
1.. ersons accused of or acting in the interest of United States or
2.. he relatives of such persons to whom they may be reasonably
considered to be bound by ties of affection, kinship or obligation.
Near relatives will also include uncles, aunts, grandparents, fatherin-law,
mother-in-law and relationships corresponding to any of the
above persons inloco parentis (AR 630-5 and 37 USC 501).
(10) Meet career management and development criteria contained
in AR 614-200, AR 600-200.
(11) Successfully completed (and be able to show proof of credit
by official copy of transcript) 1 year of high school algebra or
geometry.
(12) A high school graduate or equivalent.
(13) Formal training (completion of MOS 96D course under the
auspices of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center) mandatory.
(14) Have neither commercial nor vested interest in a country
within whose boundaries physical or mental coercion is known to be
a common practice against persons acting in the interest of the U.S.
This requirement applies to the soldier’s spouse as well.
(15) No record of conviction by court-martial.
(16) No record of conviction by a civil court for any offense
other than minor traffic violations.
(17) Be advised that due to the nature of training and assignments,
temporary restrictions may be place on foreign travel both
during and after the term of service.

10–271. 96H—Imagery Ground Station (IGS) Operator (IGS
Operator), CMF 96
a. Major duties. The imagery ground station operator supervises
or participates in detecting, locating and tracking ground targets and
rotary wing and slow moving fixed wing aircraft. The GSA receives
Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) near-realtime
radar imagery data, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) imagery,
Commander’s Tactical Terminal/Joint Tactical Terminal (CTT/JTT)
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) data, and Secondary Imagery Dissemi
n a t i o n ( S I D S ) p r o d u c t s w h i c h a r e t r a n s m i t t e d t o t h e C o m m o n
Ground Station (CGS) to provide situational development, battle
management, and targeting information and imagery intelligence of
value to the commander. Duties for the MOS 96H at each level of
skill are:
(1) MOSC 96H1O. Participates in pre-mission planning for aerial
surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Deploys and reploys the
IGS in a tactical environment. Operates the data systems and communication
equipment organic to the IGS. Analyzes JSTARS nearreal-time
radar imagery data, SIGINT data and SIDS products received
via the CTT/JTT. Analyzes softcopy imagery, to include
infrared and electro-optics received from UAV platforms. Assists in
the development of Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB)
products in support of IGS mission planning. Prepares JSTARS
imagery analysis reports. Performs maintenance on the prime mover
and the IGS mission equipment.
2. MOSC 96H2O. Performs duties shown in preceding skill level
and provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Supervises IGS shift
operations. Performs reconnaissance and IGS site selection. Performs
IPB in support of IGS mission planning. Participates in premission
planning for aerial surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
Prepares and disseminates JSTARS imagery analysis reports.

operations and maintenance of related equipment. Oversees the analysis

skill and provides guidance to subordinate soldiers. Plans, coordinates,
supervises and participates in activities pertaining to organization,
training, operations, and intelligence of JSTARS units.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of
MOS. IGS operators must possess the following qualifications.
(1) A physical demands rating of moderately heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 222111.
(3) Normal color vision.
