10–257.3. 92R—Parachute Rigger, CMF 92<br />

a. Major duties. The parachute rigger supervises or packs <strong>and</strong><br />

repairs cargo <strong>and</strong> personnel parachutes, <strong>and</strong> rigs equipment <strong>and</strong><br />

supply containers for airdrop. Duties for MOS 92R at each level of<br />

skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 92R1P. Inventories, cleans, receives, stores <strong>and</strong> issues<br />

all airdrop equipment used in airdrop operations. Rigs supplies,<br />

equipment <strong>and</strong> vehicles for airdrop. Assembles airdrop platform,<br />

c u s h i o n i n g m a t e r i a l s , c a r g o , e x t r a c t i o n a n d p e r s o n n e l p a r a c h u t e<br />

along with other airdrop related equipment. Inspects, tests <strong>and</strong> installs<br />

extraction <strong>and</strong> release systems. Performs technical, routine <strong>and</strong><br />

in-storage rigger-type inspection on cargo, extraction <strong>and</strong> personnel<br />

parachute as well as other airdrop equipment before, during <strong>and</strong><br />

after each use. Pack cargo, extraction <strong>and</strong> personnel parachutes.<br />

Performs unit, direct <strong>and</strong> general support maintenance on all parachutes,<br />

textile components <strong>and</strong> other airdrop equipment. Uses <strong>and</strong><br />

m a i n t a i n s m a c h i n e s a n d t o o l s f o r f a b r i c a t i o n , m o d i f i c a t i o n a n d<br />

repair to parachute <strong>and</strong> other airdrop equipment. Drop-test trooptype<br />

personnel parachute to check proficiency.<br />

(2) MOSC 92R2P. Performs duties in pacing, airdrop rigger <strong>and</strong><br />

airdrop equipment repair shown at the above skill level. Provides<br />

technical guidance <strong>and</strong> supervision to subordinate personnel. Maintains<br />

production reports <strong>and</strong> records. Inspects <strong>and</strong> classifies airdrop<br />

items. Performs initial <strong>and</strong> final inspection on all parachutes <strong>and</strong><br />

airdrop textile component. Performs as inspector testers, pack-inprocess<br />

inspector <strong>and</strong> as quality assurance personnel. Performs as<br />

malfunction officer at the drop zone. Diagnoses malfunctions occurring<br />

in airdrop equipment during airborne operations.<br />

(3) MOSC 92R3P. Performs duties at preceding skill level. Supervises<br />

parachute pack, maintenance or airdrop sections. Directs<br />

section activities, schedules <strong>and</strong> assigns work load, instructs personnel<br />

on job requirement, techniques <strong>and</strong> inspects work in progress.<br />

Inspects <strong>and</strong> certifies airdrop loads, airdrop equipment repair <strong>and</strong><br />

parachute packing. Inspects air items to ensure manufacture quality<br />

control. Controls <strong>and</strong> expedites coordination with airborne support<br />

activities. Assists in planning <strong>and</strong> coordinating training for st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

<strong>and</strong> nonst<strong>and</strong>ard rigging, sling loading <strong>and</strong> airdrop procedures.<br />

(4) MOSC 92R4P. Performs duties shown at preceding skill level.<br />

Supervises <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate pers<br />

o n n e l . A s s i s t a i r d r o p o f f i c e r i n p l a n n i n g , c o o r d i n a t i n g ,<br />

requisitioning, receiving <strong>and</strong> storing equipment <strong>and</strong> supplies for<br />

airdrop. Coordinates with supporting Air Force <strong>and</strong> <strong>Army</strong> aviation<br />

elements. Provides technical direction <strong>and</strong> coordination for activities<br />

supporting routing <strong>and</strong> contingency missions. Maintains status on all<br />

jumps <strong>and</strong> airdrops to include schedules by G3 at division level.<br />

Prepares <strong>and</strong> submits required status reports. Maintains a reference<br />

library of current publication, regulations <strong>and</strong> SOP relating to airdrop<br />

<strong>and</strong> airdrop support. Participates in development <strong>and</strong> operational<br />

testing of airdrop equipment. Performs as the senior NCO in a<br />

separate detachment/unit engaged in parachute packing, maintenance<br />

<strong>and</strong> airdrop equipment rigging.<br />

(5) MOSC 92R5P. Performs duties shown at preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel. Supervises<br />

operations of organizations performing airborne <strong>and</strong> resupply<br />

by airdrop missions. Supervises development <strong>and</strong> preparation of<br />

operations information, plans, maps, sketches, overlays, <strong>and</strong> related<br />

data to facilitate airborne operations. Advises on airborne operational<br />

matters <strong>and</strong> performs liaison between staff <strong>and</strong> supported<br />

personnel.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Parachute riggers must posses the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 111121.<br />

(3) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area GM <strong>and</strong> 90 in<br />

aptitude area CO.<br />

(4) Normal color vision.<br />

(5) The soldier must be qualified as a parachutist.<br />

(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 92R course conducted<br />

m<strong>and</strong>atory.<br />

10–258. 92Y—Unit Supply Specialist (Unit Supply Spec),<br />

CMF 92<br />

a. Major duties. The unit supply specialist supervises or performs<br />

duties involving request, receipt, storage, issue, accountability, <strong>and</strong><br />

preservation of individual, organizational, installation, <strong>and</strong> expendable<br />

supplies <strong>and</strong> equipment. Duties for MOS 92Y at each level of<br />

skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 92Y1O. Receives, inspects, inventories, loads, unloads,<br />

segregates, stores, issues, delivers <strong>and</strong> turns-in organization <strong>and</strong><br />

installation supplies <strong>and</strong> equipment. Operates unit level computer<br />

(ULC). Prepares all unit/organizational supply documents. Maintains<br />

automated supply system for accounting of organizational <strong>and</strong> installation<br />

supplies <strong>and</strong> equipment. Issues <strong>and</strong> receives small arms.<br />

Secures <strong>and</strong> controls weapons <strong>and</strong> ammunition in security areas.<br />

Schedules <strong>and</strong> performs preventive <strong>and</strong> organizational maintenance<br />

on weapons.<br />

(2) MOSC 92Y2O. Performs duties shown at preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to lower grade personnel.<br />

Inspects completed work for accuracy <strong>and</strong> compliance with established<br />

procedures. Coordinates supply activities. Reviews <strong>and</strong> annot<br />

a t e s c h a n g e s t o u n i t m a t e r i a l c o n d i t i o n s t a t u s r e p o r t . P o s t<br />

transactions to organizational <strong>and</strong> installation property books <strong>and</strong><br />

supporting transaction files. Determines method of obtaining relief<br />

from responsibility for lost, damaged <strong>and</strong> destroyed supply items.<br />

(3) MOSC 92Y3O. Performs duties shown at preceding level of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides guidance to lower grade personnel. Directs supply<br />

personnel in establishing supply <strong>and</strong> inventory control management<br />

functions. Maintains property under st<strong>and</strong>ard property book system<br />

(SPBS). Reviews daily <strong>and</strong> monthly records of issues of petroleum<br />
