10–224.1. 81L—Lithographer, CMF 81<br />

a. Major duties. The lithographer operates <strong>and</strong> performs operator<br />

maintenance on offset duplicators/presses, copy cameras, plate making<br />

<strong>and</strong> various types of bindery <strong>and</strong> film processing equipment;<br />

supervises <strong>and</strong> performs all printing <strong>and</strong> binding, camera operations,<br />

layout, <strong>and</strong> plate making activities. Duties for MOS 81L at each<br />

level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 81L1O. Produces lithographic film products such as<br />

contact negative/positive film, contact paper prints <strong>and</strong> line negatives/positives.<br />

Produces color proofs, deep etches, peel coat images,<br />

scribes, pre-sensitized plates <strong>and</strong> color key images. Produces flats<br />

for press operations. Performs bindery operations <strong>and</strong> operates offset<br />

duplicators <strong>and</strong> presses to reproduce printed materials. Performs<br />

preventative maintenance on all photo-lithographic equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 81L2O. Performs duties in the preceding skill level<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel. Produces<br />

film products to include continuous tone <strong>and</strong> half tone negatives.<br />

Produces multi-color printed matter using a two color offset duplicator.<br />

Performs <strong>and</strong> supervises operator/preventative maintenance on<br />

all photo-lithographic equipment.<br />

(3) MOSC 81L3O. Directs <strong>and</strong> prepares transportable/mobile <strong>and</strong><br />

modular print system sections for operations movement. Directs<br />

photo-lithographic section for operations. Directs preventive maintenance<br />

on photo-lithographic equipment.<br />

(4) MOSC 81L4O. Supervises preparation of transportable/mobile<br />

<strong>and</strong> modular print system organization for operations <strong>and</strong> movement.<br />

Prepares field operations layout for transportable/mobile organization.<br />

Supervises preventive maintenance schedules for photolithographic<br />

equipment.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. The lithographer must possess the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong> rating of heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222122.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 85 in aptitude area ST.<br />

(5) Formal training m<strong>and</strong>atory (completion of MOS 81L course<br />

conducted under the auspices of the Defense Mapping Agency) or<br />

meet civilian acquired skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.<br />

(6) A SECRET security clearance required prior to promotion to<br />

SSG.<br />

(7) A U.S. citizen.<br />

(1) J6—Reproduction Equipment Repair.<br />

(2) P5—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

(3) Y2—Transition (personnel only).<br />

10–226. 81T—Topographic Analyst, CMF 81<br />

a. Major duties. The topographic analyst supervises <strong>and</strong>/or perf<br />

o r m s c a r t o g r a p h i c a n d t e r r a i n a n a l y s i s d u t i e s ; c o l l e c t s a n d<br />

processes military geographic information from remote sensed imagery,<br />

digital data, intelligence data, existing topographic products<br />

<strong>and</strong> other collateral data sources; edits cartographic <strong>and</strong> terrain analysis<br />

products; advises comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> staff officers on topographic<br />

operations <strong>and</strong> special map product planning. Duties for MOS 81T<br />

at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 81T1O. Extracts terrain data from remote sensed imagery,<br />

field reconnaissance, digital data, existing topographic produ<br />

c t s a n d o t h e r c o l l a t e r a l d a t a s o u r c e s . R e c o r d s a n a l y s i s r e s u l t s<br />

addition to a military graphic data base. Draws, scribes, digitizes<br />

<strong>and</strong> scans cultural, topographic, hydrographic, <strong>and</strong>/or other features<br />

on overlay/scribing surfaces or in digital formats. Utilizes basic<br />

drafting techniques to tailor terrain products <strong>and</strong> revises planimetric<br />

<strong>and</strong> topographic maps. Performs digital manipulation of topographic<br />

information by querying, viewing, evaluating, <strong>and</strong> downloading digital<br />

data.<br />

(2) MOSC 81T2O. Performs duties in the preceding skill level,<br />

supervises lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to<br />

the soldiers in accomplishment of their duties. Analyzes collected<br />

military geographic information to produce tactical decision aids.<br />

Predicts terrain <strong>and</strong> weather effects as applied to comm<strong>and</strong>, control,<br />

communication, computer, <strong>and</strong> intelligence systems. Performs data<br />

base management for the storage of aerial photographs, maps, digital<br />

data bases, <strong>and</strong> collateral source materials. Performs quality<br />

assurance during all stages of topographic operations.<br />

(3) MOSC 81T3O. Performs duties of preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to<br />

s o l d i e r s i n t h e a c c o m p l i s h m e n t o f t h e i r d u t i e s . S u p e r v i s e s<br />

topographic analysts at division, Corps <strong>and</strong> EAC topographic units<br />

to include maintenance of assigned equipment. Evaluates source<br />

materials for military geographic information analysis. Supervises<br />

quality assurance during all stages of topographic operations. Ensures<br />

required administrative, intelligence, source data, <strong>and</strong> reference<br />

files are maintained. Advises comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> staff officers on all<br />

aspects of topographic operations <strong>and</strong> doctrine.<br />

(4) MOSC 81T4O. Performs duties of preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to<br />

s o l d i e r s i n t h e a c c o m p l i s h m e n t o f t h e i r d u t i e s . S u p e r v i s e s<br />

topographic analysis activities at all levels. Coordinates <strong>and</strong> validates<br />

collection requirements. Supervises quality assurance program<br />

for all topographic operations. Plans <strong>and</strong> coordinates activities pertaining<br />

to the organization, training <strong>and</strong> the tactical <strong>and</strong> technical<br />

operation of the assigned unit. Directs preparation for movement<br />

<strong>and</strong> operation of mobile/transportable work sections. Advises comm<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> staff officers on all aspects of topographic operations <strong>and</strong><br />

d o c t r i n e . C o o r d i n a t e s t h e p l a n n i n g a n d p r o d u c t i o n o f m i l i t a r y<br />

geographic information. Supervises preparation of transportable/mobile<br />

work sections. Advises comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> staff officers on all asp<br />

e c t s o f t o p o g r a p h i c o p e r a t i o n s a n d d o c t r i n e . C o o r d i n a t e s t h e<br />

planning <strong>and</strong> production of military geographic information.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

M O S . T h e t o p o g r a p h i c a n a l y s t m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of moderately heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 211222.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A maximum of 175 seconds of arc visual stereoscopic acuity.<br />

(5) A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area ST.<br />

(6) Successfully completed (<strong>and</strong> be able to show proof of credit<br />

by official copy of transcript) 1 year of high school algebra or<br />

geometry, or equivalent.<br />

(7) A security clearance of SECRET.<br />

(8) Formal training (completion of MOS 81T course conducted<br />

under the auspices of the U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Engineer School) is required.<br />

(9) A U.S. citizen.<br />

c. Additional skill identifiers.<br />
