(d) Except as provided in (e) below, a documented instance of<br />

the use, sale, transfer, possession, or manufacture of any narcotic or<br />

other controlled substance or dangerous drug as defined by 21 USC<br />

801, et seq, is disqualifying. A documented instance includes conviction<br />

by any courts martial or any civilian court. Convictions<br />

include juvenile adjudication, non judicial punishment under Article<br />

15, UCMJ, or voluntary confession after proper rights warning according<br />

to Article 31(b), UCMJ.<br />

(e) A soldier or potential enlistee will not be disqualified for<br />

t e e n a g e c i v i l i a n e x p e r i m e n t a t i o n w i t h m a r i j u a n a o r o t h e r c a n -<br />

nabinoids disclosed in voluntary confessions of drug experimentation<br />

documented solely by information obtained from DD Form<br />

1966, SF 88 or SF 93. (Experimentation is defined as one time use<br />

or casual use over a short period of time resulting from peer pressure.)<br />

The use disclosed must have occurred prior to the individual’s<br />

18th birthday, <strong>and</strong> prior to enlistment in any armed force.<br />

10–187. 67Z—Aircraft Maintenance Senior Sergeant (Acft<br />

Maint Sr Sgt), CMF 67<br />

a. Major duties. The aircraft maintenance senior sergeant superv<br />

i s e s a v i a t i o n < / t i t l e > u n i t m a i n t e n a n c e ( A V U M ) , i n t e r m e d i a t e<br />

(AVIM), <strong>and</strong> depot maintenance in activities having a mix of aircraft<br />

maintenance <strong>and</strong>/or component repair MOS. Prepares studies,<br />

evaluations, special reports, <strong>and</strong> records pertaining to aircraft maint<br />

e n a n c e , c o m p o n e n t r e p a i r , a n d r e l a t e d a c t i v i t i e s . P l a n s a i r c r a f t<br />

maintenance areas, components repair shops, <strong>and</strong> facilities. Applies<br />

production control, quality control <strong>and</strong> other maintenance management<br />

principles <strong>and</strong> procedures to aircraft maintenance <strong>and</strong> shop<br />

operations. Supervises the verification <strong>and</strong> validation of technical<br />

manuals, training devices <strong>and</strong> contractor furnished training material<br />

pertaining to new aircraft <strong>and</strong>/or component fielding. Supervises<br />

research <strong>and</strong> development projects in aviation <strong>and</strong> related areas.<br />

Assists in the development of maintenance procedures for prototype<br />

aircraft <strong>and</strong> components. Supervises the development <strong>and</strong> instruction<br />

of training programs. Recommends <strong>and</strong> establishes plans, policies<br />

<strong>and</strong> procedures for aircraft maintenance operations. Maintains supply<br />

economy <strong>and</strong> discipline.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS.<br />

(1) Aircraft maintenance senior sergeants (MOS 67Y) must be in<br />

grade specialist (E4) (non-promotable) or below unless they have<br />

held a CMF 67 MOS for a minimum of 12 months at skill level 1 or<br />

2, 18 months at skill level 3 or 24 months at skill level 4. Waivers<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or exceptions must be approved by Cdr, USAAVNC, ATTN:<br />

ATZO-AP, Ft Rucker, AL 36363-5000.<br />

(a) Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating—N/A.<br />

(b) A physical profile of 323222.<br />

(c) Minimum score in aptitude area— N/A.<br />

(2) Alcohol <strong>and</strong> drug abuse as defined below will disqualify any<br />

soldier or potential enlistee from this MOS. This disqualification<br />

will not be waived, even though the soldier/potential enlistee satisfactorily<br />

completes the <strong>Army</strong> Alcohol or Drug Abuse Rehabilitation<br />

Program or a civilianequivalent, except as specified below:<br />

(a) A medically diagnosed history of alcohol abuse as defined in<br />

the substance use disorder section of the Diagnostic <strong>and</strong> Statistical<br />

Manual III, 3rd Edition, 1980 (DSM III) is disqualifying. Cdr,<br />

PERSCOM may waive this disqualification after a soldier/potential<br />

enlistee in this MOS successfully completes the <strong>Army</strong> Alcohol <strong>and</strong><br />

Drug Abuse Prevention <strong>and</strong> Control Program (ADAPCP) Track I, II<br />

or III, or its civilian equivalent, based on the recommendations of<br />

the chain of comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> the Cdr, USA Aeromedical Center. A<br />

soldier/potential enlistee who completes any aspect of the ADAPCP<br />

program <strong>and</strong> is involved in an additional offense involving alcohol<br />

or alcohol abuse will be immediately reclassified or denied enlistment<br />

in this MOS as a high risk.<br />

10–188. 68B—Aircraft Powerplant Repairer (Acft<br />

Powerplant Rep), CMF 67<br />

a. Major duties. The aircraft powerplant repairer supervises, inspects<br />

<strong>and</strong> performs aviation unit (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM)<br />

<strong>and</strong> depot maintenance on aircraft turbine engines <strong>and</strong> components.<br />

Duties for MOS 68B at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 68B1O. Removes, replaces, services, prepares, preserves,<br />

cleans <strong>and</strong> stores engine assembles or components. Disass<br />

e m b l e s , r e p a i r s , r e s e m b l e s , a d j u s t s , d i a g n o s t i c a l l y t e s t s t u r b i n e<br />

engine systems, subsystems <strong>and</strong> components according to directives.<br />

Assists in troubleshooting engines <strong>and</strong> rigging engine controls. Performs<br />

limited maintenance operational checks. Uses <strong>and</strong> performs<br />

user maintenance on common <strong>and</strong> special tools. Requisitions <strong>and</strong><br />

maintains shop <strong>and</strong> bench stock for repair of aircraft engines. Prepares<br />

request for turn-ins <strong>and</strong> repair parts <strong>and</strong> engine components.<br />

Prepares forms <strong>and</strong> records related to MOS.<br />

(2) MOSC 68B2O. Performs duties described in paragraph (1)<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel. Diagnoses<br />

<strong>and</strong> troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft engines <strong>and</strong> their components.<br />

Participates in maintenance test flights as required.<br />

(3) MOSC 68B3O. Supervises <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to<br />

subordinate personnel performing aircraft powerplant maintenance.<br />

Evaluates maintenance operations <strong>and</strong> facilities for compliance with<br />

directives, technical manuals, work st<strong>and</strong>ards, safety procedures <strong>and</strong><br />

operational policies. Performs maintenance trend analysis <strong>and</strong> applies<br />

production control, quality control <strong>and</strong> other maintenance management<br />

principles <strong>and</strong> procedures to aircraft engine maintenance
