MOS. Heavy-wheel vehicle mechanics must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222222.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 105 in aptitude area MM.<br />

(5) Current equipment qualification record for all types of equipment<br />

maintained.<br />

(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 63S course conducted<br />

u n d e r t h e a u s p i c e s o f t h e U S A O r d n a n c e C e n t e r a n d S c h o o l )<br />

m<strong>and</strong>atory.<br />

10–174. 63T—Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Mechanic<br />

(BFVS Mech), CMF 63 (Closed to women-see chap 13)<br />

a. Major duties. The Bradley fighting vehicle system (BFVS)<br />

mechanic supervises <strong>and</strong> performs unit maintenance on, <strong>and</strong> recovery<br />

operations of the improved tow vehicle (ITV), infantry fighting<br />

vehicle (IFV), cavalry fighting vehicle (CFV), fire support vehicle<br />

(FISTV), multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), <strong>and</strong> the 113 family<br />

of light armored vehicles, including the automotive, turret, fire<br />

control, <strong>and</strong> chemical protection systems. Duties for MOS 63T at<br />

each skill level are:<br />

( 1 ) M O S C 6 3 T 1 O . M a i n t a i n s ( i n s p e c t s / t r o u b l e s h o o t s / r e p l a c e s /<br />

repairs/ adjusts/performs preventive maintenance checks <strong>and</strong> services<br />

(PMCS)) diesel power plants/packs/units, compression engines,<br />

wheel vehicle clutch assemblies, compression ignition engine fuel<br />

systems, compression ignition air induction systems, vehicle exh<br />

(3) MOSC 63T3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, perform<br />

<strong>and</strong> supervise Bradley fighting vehicle system turret mechanic<br />

(MOS 45T) duties, supervises lower rank soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides<br />

technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their<br />

duties. Inspects <strong>and</strong> troubleshoots: M113 series vehicle automotive<br />

<strong>and</strong> general support (DS/GS) maintenance on wheel vehicles,<br />

material h<strong>and</strong>ling equipment (MHE) (less propulsion motor on electrical<br />

MHE), trailers, <strong>and</strong> associated items. Duties for MOS 63W at<br />

each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOS 63W1O. Repairs diesel power plants/packs, wheel vehicle<br />

clutch assemblies, compression ignition engine fuel systems,<br />

compression ignition air induction systems, vehicle liquid cooling<br />

systems, wheel vehicle chassis electrical systems, st<strong>and</strong>ard transmission<br />

assemblies, automatic transmission assemblies, air controlled<br />

semiautomatic transmission assemblies, transfer assemblies, axle assemblies<br />

air (wedge, s-cam) brake systems, wheel vehicle hub ass<br />

e m b l i e s , w h e e l v e h i c l e m e c h a n i c a l ( m a n u a l ) s t e e r i n g s y s t e m s ,<br />

wheel vehicle hydraulic (power) steering systems, <strong>and</strong> articulated<br />

steering systems. Repairs wheel vehicle using battlefield damage<br />

assessment <strong>and</strong> repair (BDAR).<br />

(2) MOSC 63W2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties.<br />
