10–162. 62G—Quarrying Specialist, CMF 51<br />

a. Major duties. The quarrying specialist supervises or operates<br />

electric, pneumatic, <strong>and</strong> internal combustion powered machines used<br />

in drilling, crushing, grading, <strong>and</strong> cleaning gravel <strong>and</strong> rock, or<br />

detonates explosives to blast rock in quarries <strong>and</strong> at construction<br />

sites. Duties for MOS 62G at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 62G1O. Operates rock drills under supervision. Assembles,<br />

adjusts <strong>and</strong> operates crushing, screening, conveying, <strong>and</strong><br />

washing units. Assists in blasting operations. Assists in performance<br />

of combat engineer missions.<br />

(2) MOSC 62G2O. Directs the erection of rock processing equipment.<br />

Determines screen sizes <strong>and</strong> crusher settings to produce aggregate<br />

to specifications. Directs quarry rock excavation to produce<br />

required sizes <strong>and</strong> tonnage of rock. Performs as blaster.<br />

(3) MOSC 62G3O. Conducts <strong>and</strong> plans quarry reconnaissance<br />

<strong>and</strong> plant layout. Supervises the setup <strong>and</strong> calibration of a rock<br />

processing plant. Plans <strong>and</strong> supervises blasting operations. Superv<br />

i s e s r o c k p r o d u c t i o n o p e r a t i o n s . D i r e c t s c o m b a t e n g i n e e r i n g<br />

missions.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications of initial award of<br />

M O S . Q u a r r y i n g s p e c i a l i s t s m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area GM.<br />

(5) MOS qualification may be attained by meeting the civilian<br />

acquired skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.<br />

c. Additional skill identifiers.<br />

(1) P5—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

(2) 2S—Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 <strong>and</strong> above).<br />

(3) 4A—Reclassification Training.<br />

10–163. 62H—Concrete <strong>and</strong> Asphalt Equipment Operator<br />

(Conc & Asphalt Eq Op), CMF 51<br />

a. Major duties. The concrete <strong>and</strong> asphalt equipment operator<br />

supervises or operates all equipment used in concrete <strong>and</strong> asphalt<br />

production <strong>and</strong> paving. Duties for MOS 62H at each level of skill<br />

are:<br />

(1) MOSC 62H1O. Produces concrete with concrete mobile mixer.<br />

Assists in the erection <strong>and</strong> operation of asphalt producing plant.<br />

Operates asphalt distributor, aggregate spreader <strong>and</strong> asphalt kettle.<br />

Assists in operation of asphalt paving <strong>and</strong> surfacing equipment.<br />

Assists in performance of combat engineer missions.<br />

(2) MOSC 62H2O. Erects <strong>and</strong> operates asphalt plant for the production<br />

of hot mix asphalt. Sets up <strong>and</strong> operates asphalt laydown<br />

equipment to meet desired asphalt specifications.<br />

(3) MOSC 62H3O. Directs employment of concrete mobile mixer.<br />

Plans <strong>and</strong> directs layout <strong>and</strong> erection of asphalt plant. Supervises<br />

production of hot mix asphalt. Directs asphalt laydown <strong>and</strong> rolling<br />

operations. Directs combat engineering missions.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Concrete <strong>and</strong> asphalt equipment operators must possess the<br />

following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Red/green color discrimination.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area GM.<br />

(5) Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator license.<br />

( 6 ) M a n d a t o r y f o r m a l t r a i n i n g ( c o m p l e t i o n o f M O S 6 2 H 1 0<br />

course conducted under auspices of U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Engineer School) or<br />

(Gen Const Equip Op), CMF 51<br />

a. Major duties. The general construction equipment operator operates<br />

air compressors <strong>and</strong> special purpose construction machines<br />

engaged in compaction, ditching, pumping <strong>and</strong> auguring. Duties for<br />

MOS 62J at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 62J1O. Operates air compressors <strong>and</strong> related pneumatic<br />

tools. Operates SEE <strong>and</strong> attachments, performing digging,<br />

backfilling <strong>and</strong> loading operations. Operates self-propelled compaction<br />

rollers during construction operations. Operates water distributor<br />

during compaction <strong>and</strong> dust control operations. Operates earth<br />

auger, rotary sweeper <strong>and</strong> tiller. Assists in performance of combat<br />

engineer missions.<br />

(2) MOSC 62J2O. Operates all general construction equipment.<br />

Directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. General construction equipment operators must possess the<br />

following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Red/green color discrimination.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area GM.<br />

(5) Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator license.<br />

(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 62J course conducted<br />

under auspices of U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Engineer School) m<strong>and</strong>atory, or meet<br />

the civilian acquired skills criteria listed in AR 601-210.<br />

a. Major duties. The construction equipment supervisor supervises<br />

construction equipment, quarry, paving, <strong>and</strong> plant equipment<br />

operations, <strong>and</strong> crew maintenance of equipment. Duties for MOS<br />

62N at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 62N3O. Supervises employment <strong>and</strong> maintenance activities<br />

related to lifting, general <strong>and</strong> heavy construction equipment<br />

in support of construction operations. Estimates equipment <strong>and</strong> operator<br />

requirements for specific jobs. Assists in supervision of unit<br />

engaged in construction equipment operation. Organizes <strong>and</strong> directs<br />

well drilling operations. Directs combat engineering missions.<br />

(2) MOSC 62N4O. Devises network flow diagrams such as the<br />

critical path method <strong>and</strong> coordinates work activities of supporting<br />

units. Provides supervision over all engineer construction equipment<br />

operations. Develops <strong>and</strong> executes a quality control plan. Plans <strong>and</strong><br />

organizes for combat engineering missions.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Construction equipment supervisors must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating—N/A.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Red/green color discrimination.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area GM.
