on smoke generating equipment, NBC identification/detection <strong>and</strong><br />

decontamination equipment, performs NBC reconnaissance.<br />

(2) MOSC 54B2O. Operates <strong>and</strong> performs operator maintenance<br />

on smoke generating equipment, leads smoke generating or fuel<br />

s u p p l y s q u a d s , s u p e r v i s e s r e c o n n a i s s a n c e / d e c o n t a m i n a t i o n o p e r a -<br />

tions, serves as company NBC NCO.<br />

(3) MOSC 54B3O. Supervises smoke generator <strong>and</strong> fuel supply<br />

squad, computes <strong>and</strong> plots NBC data, supervises reconnaissance <strong>and</strong><br />

decontamination squads, serves as NBC NCO in battalion or squadron<br />

headquarters authorized a chemical branch officer, or as company<br />

NBC NCO in a separate company or in organic companies of<br />

combat service support battalions.<br />

(4) MOSC 54B4O. Supervises a chemical platoon <strong>and</strong> controls<br />

company smoke operations, supervises NBC decontamination platoon<br />

or comparable unit, monitors technical operations of an NBC<br />

company, <strong>and</strong> serves as brigade (except for separate brigades), battalion,<br />

or squadron NBC advisor in headquarters not authorized a<br />

chemical branch officer.<br />

(5) MOSC 54B5O. Serves as first sergeant in a chemical company,<br />

conducts battalion <strong>and</strong> group operations <strong>and</strong> intelligence funct<br />

i o n s , a n d p r o v i d e s N B C o p e r a t i o n s a d v i s o r y s u p p o r t t o<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>ers at separate brigade, group, division, Corps <strong>and</strong> <strong>Army</strong><br />

level.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Chemical operations specialists must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 122221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 95 in aptitude area ST.<br />

(5) Active component personnel (all grades): For initial award of<br />

MOS, soldiers must attend resident training at the U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Chemical<br />

School (USACMLS) where they will be exposed, while wearing<br />

NBC protective wear, to toxic agents in a decontamination facility.<br />

Correspondence course will not be the basis for MOS qualification.<br />

ARNG/USAR personnel (all grades): National Guard <strong>and</strong> <strong>Army</strong><br />

Reserve soldiers will attend the resident course at USACLMS or at<br />

an accredited USAR school or national Guard academy.<br />

c. Additional skill identifiers.<br />

(1) J5—Technical Escorting.<br />

(2) L1—Master Fox Scout (SL 3 <strong>and</strong> 4 only).<br />

(3) L4—Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS) (SL 1<br />

thru SL 4).<br />

(4) L5—NBC Reconnaissance.<br />

(5) P5—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

(6) 2S—Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 <strong>and</strong> above).<br />

(7) 4A—Reclassification Training.<br />

d. Physical requirements <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards of grade. Physical requirements<br />

<strong>and</strong> SG relating to each skill level are listed in the<br />

following tables:<br />

10–154. 55B—Ammunition Specialist (Ammo Sp), CMF 55<br />

a. Major duties. The ammunition specialist receives, stores <strong>and</strong><br />

issues conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets <strong>and</strong><br />

other ammunition related items; performs maintenance (unit, direct<br />

s u p p o r t a n d g e n e r a l s u p p o r t ) m o d i f i c a t i o n , d e s t r u c t i o n a n d<br />

demilitarization on ammunition <strong>and</strong> explosive components; <strong>and</strong> operates<br />

computer hardware <strong>and</strong> software/utilities manual records to<br />

perform stock control <strong>and</strong> accounting procedures. Duties for MOS<br />

55B at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 55B1O. Assists in receipt, storage, issue, maintenance,<br />

modification, destruction <strong>and</strong> demilitarization of explosive items.<br />

Performs ammunition supply stock control <strong>and</strong> accounting duties<br />

using both automated <strong>and</strong> manual procedures. Operates MHE to<br />

maneuver ammunition.<br />

(2) MOSC 55B2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Assists in the preparation<br />

of transportation of ammunition, ammunition components <strong>and</strong><br />

explosives.<br />

(3) MOSC 55B3O. Performs duties in the preceding skill levels,<br />

supervises lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to<br />

the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Prepares/reviews<br />

ammunition storage waivers. Prepares complex ammunition malfunction<br />

reports. Ensures ammunition quality assurance/quality control<br />

procedures are followed.<br />

(4) MOSC 55B4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Interprets technical<br />

data <strong>and</strong> instructs subordinates in the technical aspects of ammunition,<br />

missile <strong>and</strong> other explosive items receipt, storage, maintenance<br />

a n d s u p p l y . T e c h n i c a l a d v i s o r o n a m m u n i t i o n s u r v e i l l a n c e a n d<br />

safety matters.<br />

(5) MOSC 55B5O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Supervises <strong>and</strong> manages<br />

the SAAS-MOD at theater, theater <strong>Army</strong>, area comm<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong><br />

Corps materiel management centers (CMMC). Assists in the survey<br />

<strong>and</strong> layout of areas allocated for the establishment of ammunition<br />

storage areas. Plans requirements for labor, equipment <strong>and</strong> supplies<br />

i n p r e p a r a t i o n a n d a p p l i c a t i o n o f p l a n s , w o r k p o l i c i e s a n d<br />

procedures.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

M O S . A m m u n i t i o n s p e c i a l i s t s m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area ST.<br />

(5) A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.<br />

(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 55B course conducted<br />

under the auspices of the USAOMMCS, to include Phase II MOS<br />

training for RC personnel) is m<strong>and</strong>atory.<br />

(7) Non-allergic to explosive components.<br />

(8) Non-claustrophobic tendencies.<br />

(9) A U.S. citizen.<br />

c. Additional skill identifiers.<br />

(1) P5—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

(2) 2S—Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 <strong>and</strong> above).<br />

(3) 4A—Reclassification Training.<br />

10–155. 55D—Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)<br />

Specialist (EOD Sp), CMF 55<br />

a. Major duties. Locates, identifies, renders safe, <strong>and</strong> disposes of<br />

foreign <strong>and</strong> domestic conventional, chemical, or nuclear ordnance<br />

<strong>and</strong> improved explosive devices (IED); supports VIP missions for<br />

the U.S. Secret Service, State Department, <strong>and</strong> other Federal agencies.<br />

Duties for MOS 55D at each level of skill are:<br />

( 1 ) M O S C 5 5 D 1 0 . R e s e a r c h e s a n d i d e n t i f i e s o r d n a n c e u s i n g<br />

EOD technical publications. Detects the presence of <strong>and</strong> identifies<br />

chemical agents. Prepares <strong>and</strong> maintains EOD tools, equipment, <strong>and</strong><br />

vehicles. Assists in operating an Emergency Contamination Control<br />

Station (ECCS) <strong>and</strong> Emergency Personnel Decontamination Station<br />

(EPDS). Assists in locating <strong>and</strong> gaining access to buried ordnance.<br />

Assists the EOD Team Leader in performing the major duties.<br />

(2) MOSC 55D2O. Performs duties in the preceding grade level.<br />

Supervises <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to less experience soldiers.<br />

Performs radiological monitoring. Reads <strong>and</strong> interprets x-rays,<br />
