10–119. 35W—Electronic Maintenance Chief (Elect Maint<br />

Chief), CMF 35<br />

a. Major duties. The electronics maintenance chief supervises,<br />

monitors, <strong>and</strong> directs the electronics maintenance mission of the<br />

U.S. <strong>Army</strong>, <strong>and</strong> oversees <strong>and</strong> performs direct <strong>and</strong> general support<br />

(DS/GS) level maintenance of all <strong>Army</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ard electronics equipment,<br />

systems, <strong>and</strong> associated devices, to include communications<br />

security (COMSEC) <strong>and</strong> controlled cryptographic items (CCI) devices.<br />

Duties for MOS 35W at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 35W4O. Develops <strong>and</strong> implements unit level electronic<br />

maintenance programs. Develops <strong>and</strong> enforces policy <strong>and</strong><br />

procedures for facility management. Organizes work schedules <strong>and</strong><br />

instructs subordinate personnel in the technical maintenance of field<br />

communications <strong>and</strong> electronics equipment <strong>and</strong> systems, <strong>and</strong> associated<br />

devices. Ensures repair of COMSEC devices complies with<br />

published security requirements. Provides advice <strong>and</strong> technical assistance<br />

to comm<strong>and</strong>ers. Requests logistic support; assimilates <strong>and</strong><br />

prepares reports <strong>and</strong> maintenance statistics.<br />

( 2 ) M O S C 3 5 W 5 O . I n t e r p r e t s A r m y m a i n t e n a n c e p o l i c y a n d<br />

writes technical <strong>and</strong> operational procedures used in comm<strong>and</strong> electronic<br />

maintenance operations. Serves as material management staff<br />

noncommissioned officer in field <strong>and</strong> garrison electronic maintenance<br />

operations. Inspects assigned electronic maintenance activities<br />

for compliance with repair priorities, quality control, <strong>and</strong> shop practices.<br />

Advises comm<strong>and</strong>er <strong>and</strong> staff on all aspects of electronic<br />

maintenance operations.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

M O S . E l e c t r o n i c m a i n t e n a n c e c h i e f m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating—N/A.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

10–120. 35Y—Integrated Family of Test Equipment (IFTE)<br />

Operator <strong>and</strong> Maintainer (IFTE Opr/Maint), CMF 35<br />

a. Major duties. The integrated family of test equipment (IFTE)<br />

operator <strong>and</strong> maintainer operates, performs, <strong>and</strong> supervises unit,<br />

direct support <strong>and</strong> general support (DS/GS) level maintenance on<br />

the Base Shop Test Facility (BSTF), AN/TSM–191. Performs DS/<br />

GS level electronic maintenance, adjustments, tests, fault isolation,<br />

<strong>and</strong> repairs of supported system line replaceable units (LRU), shop<br />

replaceable units (SRU), <strong>and</strong> test program sets (TPS). Operates <strong>and</strong><br />

performs preventive maintenance checks <strong>and</strong> services (PMCS) on<br />

assigned vehicles <strong>and</strong> power generators. Duties for MOS 35Y at<br />

each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 35Y1O. Performs march order <strong>and</strong> emplacement of the<br />

BSTF, installs supported weapon system test program sets, initiates<br />

unit under test (UUT) procedures, isolates UUT/BSTF printed circuit<br />

board or component malfunctions, replaces defective parts/comp<br />

o n e n t s a n d p e r f o r m s U U T / B S T F a l i g n m e n t s a n d a d j u s t m e n t s .<br />

P e r f o r m s B S T F p r e v e n t i v e m a i n t e n a n c e c h e c k s a n d s e r v i c e s<br />

(PMCS) <strong>and</strong> operational checks. Operates <strong>and</strong> performs PMCS on<br />

assigned vehicles <strong>and</strong> power generators.<br />

(2) MOSC 35Y2O. Performs duties shown in preceding skill level.<br />

Supervises lower rank soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance<br />

to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Installs BSTF<br />

equipment modifications, prepares maintenance <strong>and</strong> supply forms<br />

<strong>and</strong> records, <strong>and</strong> provides technical assistance for corrective maintenance<br />

procedures.<br />

(3) MOSC 35Y3O. Performs duties shown in preceding skill levels.<br />

Establishes workload <strong>and</strong> repair priorities. Recommends procedures<br />

for receipt, storage, inspection, testing <strong>and</strong> repair of items.<br />

Organizes <strong>and</strong> conducts on the job training (OJT) programs. Demonstrates<br />

proper maintenance <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting techniques. Determines<br />

faulty work practices. Prepares maintenance reports.<br />

( 4 ) M O S C 3 5 Y 4 O . S u p e r v i s e s a n d c o o r d i n a t e s D S / G S l e v e l<br />

maintenance of IFTE systems <strong>and</strong> associated trainers <strong>and</strong> test equipment.<br />

Supervises calibration of system associated electronic equipm<br />

e n t . I m p l e m e n t s q u a l i t y c o n t r o l m e a s u r e s . P e r f o r m s a s<br />

maintenance quality assurance <strong>and</strong> quality control (QA/QC) inspector.<br />

Performs initial <strong>and</strong> final type checkouts <strong>and</strong> inspection of<br />

system items. Establishes <strong>and</strong> maintains maintenance records.<br />

(5) MOSC 35Y5O. Performs duties shown in preceding levels of<br />

skill <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to lower grade personnel in the<br />

accomplishment of their duties. Plans, coordinates, <strong>and</strong> supervises<br />

activities pertaining to training <strong>and</strong> technical operation of unit to<br />

which assigned. Interprets <strong>and</strong> supervises execution of policies <strong>and</strong><br />

SOP, develops <strong>and</strong> reviews correspondence relating to support activities.<br />

Provides liaison to supported staff <strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s. Performs<br />

principal noncommissioned officer duties associated with SQI. “M”<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. IFTE operator <strong>and</strong> maintainer must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A qualifying score of 110 in aptitude area EL.<br />

(5) A security clearance of SECRET.<br />

(6) A U.S citizen.<br />

(7) Formal training (completion of MOS 35Y Course conducted<br />

under the auspices of the U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Ordnance Missile <strong>and</strong> Munitions<br />

School) m<strong>and</strong>atory; or waiver may be granted by Comm<strong>and</strong>ant,<br />

USAOMMCS, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35897-6090.<br />
