epair priorities. Provides technical assistance <strong>and</strong> teaches subordinates<br />

technical skills. Assigns specific duties to supporting forward<br />

deployed maintenance teams. Coordinates logistical support <strong>and</strong> advises<br />

superiors on maintenance status of in-shop equipment. Prepares<br />

maintenance reports <strong>and</strong> writes MOS technical portion of<br />

maintenance shop operating procedures. Coordinates <strong>and</strong> prepares<br />

paperwork, as necessary, to procure repair parts for microcomputers<br />

from commercial vendors.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Telecommunications terminal device repairer must possess<br />

the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 111221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 110 in aptitude area EL.<br />

(5) A security clearance of SECRET.<br />

(6) High school graduate or equivalent.<br />

(7) Successful completion of one year of high school algebra <strong>and</strong><br />

general science.<br />

(8) A U.S citizen.<br />

(9) Formal training (completion of MOS 35J Course conducted<br />

under the auspices of the U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Ordnance Missile <strong>and</strong> Munitions<br />

School) m<strong>and</strong>atory; or waiver may be granted by Comm<strong>and</strong>ant,<br />

USAOMMCS, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35897-6090.<br />

10–116.1. 35L—Avionic Communications Equipment<br />

Repairer (Avionic Comm Eq Rep), CMF 35<br />

a. Major duties. The avionic communications equipment repairer<br />

performs intermediate <strong>and</strong> depot maintenance on aircraft communications<br />

equipment. Duties for MOS 68L at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 35L1O. Troubleshoots faulty communications equipment<br />

to diagnoses <strong>and</strong> isolate the causes of equipment malfunction<br />

or nonfunction with common or specialized h<strong>and</strong> tools <strong>and</strong> test<br />

equipment. Replaces faulty components <strong>and</strong> individual parts. Tests,<br />

aligns, <strong>and</strong> adjusts repaired communications equipment. Alters or<br />

modifies communication equipment according to modification work<br />

orders. Performs operator maintenance on tools <strong>and</strong> test equipment.<br />

Requisitions <strong>and</strong> maintains shop <strong>and</strong> bench stock for repair of aircraft<br />

communications equipment. Prepares forms <strong>and</strong> records related<br />

to aircraft <strong>and</strong> communications equipment maintenance.<br />

(2) MOSC 35L2O. Performs duties described in paragraph (1)<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel. Schedules<br />

m a i n t e n a n c e o n t e s t , m e a s u r e m e n t , a n d d i a g n o s t i c e q u i p m e n t .<br />

Troubleshoots <strong>and</strong> repairs faulty circuit boards.<br />

(3) MOSC 35L3O. Supervises <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to<br />

subordinate personnel performing maintenance of aircraft communications<br />

equipment. Evaluates maintenance operations <strong>and</strong> facilities<br />

for compliance with directives, technical manuals, work st<strong>and</strong>ards,<br />

safety procedures, <strong>and</strong> operational policies. Performs, maintenance<br />

trend analysis <strong>and</strong> applies production control, quality control <strong>and</strong><br />

other maintenance management principles <strong>and</strong> procedures to aircraft<br />

<strong>and</strong> conducts technical training in aircraft communications equipm<br />

technical training program. Monitors requisition of parts, tools, <strong>and</strong><br />

supplies. Develops new electronic equipment while assigned to research<br />

<strong>and</strong> development projects.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Avionic communications equipment repairers must possess<br />

the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 100 in aptitude area EL.<br />

(5) Formal training (completion of appropriate nonresident instruction<br />

conducted under the auspices of USAAVNC or waiver<br />

issued by Comm<strong>and</strong>er, USAAVNC) m<strong>and</strong>atory or meet the civilian<br />

acquired skills criteria in accordance with AR 601-210.<br />

(6) Alcohol <strong>and</strong> drug abuse as defined below will disqualify any<br />

soldier or potential enlistee from this MOS. This disqualification<br />

will not be waived, even though the soldier/potential enlistee satisfactorily<br />

completes the <strong>Army</strong> Alcohol or Drug Abuse Rehabilitation<br />

Program or a civilianequivalent, except as specified below:<br />

(a) A medically diagnosed history of alcohol abuse as defined in<br />

the substance use disorder section of the Diagnostic <strong>and</strong> Statistical<br />

M a n u a l I I I , 3 r d E d i t i o n , 1 9 8 0 ( D S M I I I ) i s d i s q u a l i f y i n g .<br />

PERSCOM may waive this disqualification after a soldier/potential<br />

enlistee in this MOS successfully completes the <strong>Army</strong> Alcohol <strong>and</strong><br />

Drug Abuse Prevention <strong>and</strong> Control Program (ADAPCP) Track I, II<br />

or III, or its civilian equivalent, based on the recommendations of<br />

the chain of comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> the Cdr, USA Aeromedical Center. A<br />

soldier/potential enlistee who completes any aspect of the ADAPCP<br />

program <strong>and</strong> is involved in an additional offense involving alcohol<br />

or alcohol abuse will be immediately reclassified or denied enlistment<br />

in this MOS as a high risk.<br />

(b) Except as provided in (e) below, a wrongful or improper use<br />

of narcotic or other controlled substance or dangerous drug as defined<br />

by 21 USC 801, et seq, is disqualifying.<br />

(c) A positive result of urine test administered per AR 600-85<br />

that leads to medical evaluation <strong>and</strong> a finding of “no diagnosis<br />

apparent, improper use” is disqualifying.<br />

(d) Except as provided in (e) below, a documented instance of<br />

the use, sale, transfer, possession, or manufacture of any narcotic or<br />

other controlled substance or dangerous drug as defined by 21 USC<br />

801, et seq, is disqualifying. A documented instance includes conviction<br />

by any courts martial or any civilian court. Convictions<br />

include juvenile adjudication, non judicial punishment under Article<br />

15, UCMJ, or voluntary confession after proper rights warning according<br />

to Article 31(b), UCMJ.<br />

(e) A soldier or potential enlistee will not be disqualified for<br />

t e e n a g e c i v i l i a n e x p e r i m e n t a t i o n w i t h m a r i j u a n a o r o t h e r c a n -<br />

nabinoids disclosed in voluntary confessions of drug experimentation<br />

documented solely by information obtained from DD Form<br />

1966, SF 88 or SF 93. (Experimentation is defined as one time use<br />

or casual use over a short period of time resulting from peer pressure.)<br />

The use disclosed must have occurred prior to the individual’s<br />

18th birthday, <strong>and</strong> prior to enlistment in any armed force.<br />

10–117. 35M—Radar Repairer (Radar Rep), CMF 35<br />

a. Major duties. The Radar repairer performs or supervises unit,<br />

direct <strong>and</strong> general support (DS/GS) level maintenance on Ground<br />

Based Sensor (GBS) <strong>and</strong> FIREFINDER radar electronic assemblies<br />

<strong>and</strong> associated equipment. Duties for MOS 35M at each level of<br />

skill are:<br />

( 1 ) M O S C 3 5 M 1 O . T r o u b l e s h o o t s t h e G r o u n d B a s e d S e n s o r<br />

(GBS) <strong>and</strong> FIREFINDER Radar assemblies, subassemblies, modular<br />

<strong>and</strong> circuit elements with common <strong>and</strong> system-peculiar test equipment<br />

for deficiencies <strong>and</strong> malfunctions. Repairs, removes, <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

replaces defective components <strong>and</strong> parts of these systems. Inspects,<br />
